I am a horseback rider, and I spend a lot of time trail riding, often alone. It's critical to carry a few items (cell phone, truck keys, etc.# on one's person, because it's not safe to keep those items in saddlebags on the horse, just in case you and the horse part ways unexpectedly, lol... However, most vests are just way too heavy and hot to wear in the summer.
This vest has two zippered pockets #one chest, one waist# and one open #waist) pocket with a velcro closure, so there's plenty of room for a few necessities. The fabric was actually a bit heavier than I was expecting, but the vest isn't nearly as "full coverage" as a regular vest and can be worn as tight or as loose as you'd want, so I don't think overheating will be an issue.
The other review stated that these vests run really small. I am definitely "plus-size," so I ordered the L/XL, and I didn't find it to be too small at all-- the front strap closure expands to well over 6", which was way too loose even for me. This vest isn't designed to BE full-coverage like a regular vest-- it's just to give you some visibility and a few pockets, that's it.
The only reason I'm rating it less than 5* is due to the fabric being oddly heavy considering that it's advertised as "superlightweight"--I wouldn't quite call it that. But for visibility, some pockets, and minimal bulk, this is great.

The vest is well made and has a number of zipped pockets and pouches that would be useful. BUT, it is way too small. I'm 150 lb and 6' tall but the L/XL vest fit on me like I was 4' tall and rail thin. It fit on my 5'3" wife OK, but still did not offer a lot of bright surface area in the back for visibility; it was cut narrow in the back. Look at the picture carefully to appreciate the fit. Again, nice vest but too small.
