Rated 5 out of 5 by PreppyMainer Perfect
Purchased for my high schooler. She is very lanky. The womens small is perfect. It's a great layer for the bus rides to/from school or sporting events. We live in central Maine; this is a perfect multi-season jacket. Great windblock abilities. Great waterproofing. Perfect unless it's 20 below. Great purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HighDesertGal Not as good as the previous Pathfinder
Bought a Pathfinder 3-4 years ago and I love it. Wanted another so ordered the current version. I did notice the Velcro wrist closures in the photo, but they didn't look so bad. Upon receiving the jacket I immediately noticed three major disappointments:
1) It was lighter in weight but assumed a new, improved fabric was the reason. I expected the same warmth as the previous version.
It is not as warm or wind resistant.
2) The Velcro wrist tabs are obviously an afterthought in design and style. The strap is not covered in the fashion-fabric. The Velcro is just glued to the sleeve.
3) The sleeves are much too long. I'm 5'7" with average length arms and do like sleeves a bit long in order to keep wrists covered during out door activities. These are long enough for an Orangutan!
The Sapphire / Colbalt is a beautiful color and wish I could keep it. However, this is not the LL Bean quality I expected. It is being returned.
Please! Bring back the previous material quality, shorten the sleeves 2-3 inches and return to the previous soft elastic fleece inner wrist cuff as a wind guard!! I want to buy one!

My coat was delivered today. I have to admit after reading the reviews regarding sleeve length and the Velcro issue, I Was hesitant to purchase it. I'm so glad I did. I'm 5'5" and ordered the medium, in black. The coat fits perfectly. The sleeve length isn't an issue for me, and if the Velcro comes up from the sleeves, I'll stitch it back myself ( that's why I purchased the black ) . it's a very nice coat! Perfectly happy :). Whoop!

Rated 1 out of 5 by 2horsemom So sad I had to return this jacket
I was hoping the reviews regarding the extremely long sleeves would not apply to me, but I'm sorry to say, it did. Everything else about the jacket was great, it fit perfectly everywhere else, but the sleeves were 6" too long! You could not see my hands at all! I am 5' 2" and I ordered the XS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pinkbicycle09 Even better than I expected!
I am consistently pleased with the quality of L.L. Bean products, and this jacket is no exception. To be honest, I was expecting little more than a lined windbreaker, decent in cool weather but not necessarily for the cold. Wow, was I wrong! This jacket is quite warm, especially considering how lightweight it is, and does a remarkable job at blocking the wind. I just rode my bike in a rather brisk breeze, and I came away from it rather sweaty -- very unusual for late December in Ohio.
Other reviewers have remarked upon the jacket's freakishly long sleeves. I must admit that I was surprised at the length of the sleeves, but perhaps I shouldn't have been. I ordered the small in regular length, and I'm 5'3, maybe 5'4 on a good day. The hem of the sleeves extends past my knuckles, but I'm also fairly short. I'm not sure what to make of it. But, it's such a minor concern that it certainly doesn't detract from the overall quality of the product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DoctorMomPhD Sleeve Tab Doesn't Hold Up
This jacket is breathable and warm (for California), and in general I'm happy I purchased it. However, there is one issue that really degrades my happiness with the jacket. The sleeves are adjustable, and have these really nice looking tabs that allow you to snug up the sleeve. The tabs have velcro on one side and black suede on the other side. I thought that looked really nice, until I washed the jacket. Now the suede has peeled off, requiring me to slice off the suede to avoid it flopping around. Now I have these ugly looking raw velcro tabs on the sleeves. Yuck.

Love this jacket, lightweight for colder weather in Myrtle Beach. Cover your back and lower his in back. Only con would be sleeves are too long for a petite, but overall this jacket is a winner

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rhubarb737 Really nice
I purchased this jacket on a daily markdown so I got quite a good deal and wasn't as worried about the Velcro issue I saw come up in a number of reviews on that basis. I haven't really put the jacket to the test yet, but on first inspection and try-on it is a beautiful looking jacket that seems warm and well made. I love it. It runs slightly big as I always wear XS and it is a bit generous in the body, but I will keep this size to allow for layering. As well, the sleeves are indeed slightly long, but not too bad and adds warmth and you can tighten the Velcro to accommodate it. I got the light turquoise with darker arms and it is a lovely colour. As of now, I'm very happy with the jacket, but am worried that I will eventually experience the Velcro issue everyone is having in the reviews, but I hope either with maybe dry cleaning that I might prevent it or if it does occur, given the good price I got it for, I might be able to have better Velcro straps installed.

by 8120 Nice jacket but small problem
Me and my wife we both have pair of this soft shell jacket. Nice and comfortable, warm and cozy but we have a little issues. The problem we have and we have it on both jackets its the Velcro part on the sleeves its pealing from the rubberized material after the first time they get washed or wet. We did replacement once and the same problem its present. Looks ugly

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tupper Nice looking jacket but not windproof
I got this jacket last December to wear with warm layers underneath in cold weather. I expected it to be windproof and give me a good thermal layer. I am disappointed that the jacket is not more windproof. I can only wear it in late spring or early fall. Have thought of returning it. Is it too late?
