Rated 3 out of 5 by PoodleMom407 Goodbye Kick Pleat!
This a great coat. However, I need to replace mine which is now several years old. The fabric is wonderful and it has all the elements of a terrific coat that can take you from walks in the rain to an evening out. My one complaint is the kick pleat which I find really dates the coat. It makes it look 'old fashioned'. It adds a cumbersome and unnecessary amount of fabric to the back of the coat. How many coats do you see now that have kick pleats? I hope LL Bean will update the design of this great coat and I'll hold off ordering my new one until I see what happens!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Neecy Nice Coat--runs very small
This coat is well made and has great pockets. It runs very small in the shoulders and chest/rib cage. I have a small to medium frame, wear a size 10-12 and ordered a medium but it was too small--definitely could not wear a midweight layer underneath it as noted in the description. My old H2off rain coat (a size medium) is several years old, has been worn many times and is beginning to fray at the sleeve hems. This one has been radically redesigned and the smaller cut should be noted in the description. I returned it the day after it arrived. I would recommend this rain coat to someone because of the quality as long as they knew it was cut so small.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Adriennenz Great value for money
This rain coat is just what I am after for frequent city walking in Wellington New Zealand. We gets lots of weather, cold, rain and wind. There is no bad weather only bad clothing, and this rain coat is just the ticket for dealing with the weather. It fits perfectly. I am a size 22 and the 1x fits like a glove. It is a beautiful blue, and is very well finished with great closures and pockets.

I love this coat, but I have one issue. I purchased the same coat with a zip-in liner in a 1X. Because of the design, it was tight across the chest. I recently ordered the mesh-lined one in a 2X. Although the chest is a little bit roomier, there is almost no difference in the sizes. This is a flaw that needs to be addressed. I have an older model in the 2X that I swim in which is why I ordered the smaller size. Please revert back to the former design - we need the comfort and room!

I've had this coat for 5+ years and it's still going strong. It's perfect for spring and fall and breathable enough for really rainy summer days (if it's not too hot out). Looks great (I get lots of compliments on it) and really functional. I almost wish it would wear out so I could order another really cute LL Bean jacket. I have the black and it shows no signs of wear after 5 years.
Wish they would make a men's version.

LLB's easy returns let me exchange last year's version of this coat after a year! Because I didn't benefit from any discounts on the exchange the coat cost me fifty dollars more than I originally paid though (originally paid $136.00 but this time it was $189.00-ouch!#. This year's improvements are immediately noticeable. The hood is much better. I have large braids that never fit under anything but the improved hood does a really good job of covering most of them. Overall the coat is very well made & has great deep pockets. I found that the khaki color I had last year picked up marks easily every time I wore it. This year's Deep Navy isn't really traditional navy but it's a beautiful color. Compared to other LLB coats I've purchased in the past this one runs on the small side. I usually order a 2x but in this item a 3x was necessary. If I had my way I would have it be even a 1/2 size bigger than the 3x in order to wear bulky stuff underneath. #We're still having sketchy weather here in the mid-Atlantic). All in all though it's a very nice raincoat that I'm looking forward to enjoying all Spring and Summer

I needed a coat to take on an overseas trip next month. I debated whether to get my usual black or the dark blue, and ended up with the blue. Good choice! The color is rich and not too bright. I like the 2-way zipper, snap closures (not Velcro), interior drawstring at the waist, interior zip pocket and the extra set of snaps at the cuffs. My only gripe is the hood can't be removed, but I'll get over it. On the whole, it's a great coat.

Just received this raincoat and it fully met my expectations. I got it in 2X which is well cut and fits great allowing ample reach while not too blousy. The seams and stitching are meticulously done.
The navy color is an attractive blue that is not drab.

i purchased llb's mesh-lined raincoat after buying, & returning, the trail model raincoat. although comfort level is a subjective call, the mesh-lined raincoat is everything the model isn't. i chose the ?deep navy,? which is akin to an air force blue. from the start, the coat was comfortable, the way an old sweater or broken in pair of shoes might be. it?s cut like a trench coat, hitting my knees, with a back pleat for ease of walking. in monsoon weather, rubber boots complete the look. no rain hat is necessary as there is a permanently attached hood with a supplemental visor. the fabric is water proof, without being clammy, & is lined in mesh to forestall sweating. the sleeves are cut loosely, without being baggy, & have snaps near the cuffs for cinching in, or i slightly roll them. the closure is a combination of double zipper & snaps. the outside pockets are at a perfectly positioned slant for hands, tissues or gloves. my only misgiving is inside pockets might have been useful. all in all, i think i?ve finally found the perfect raincoat.

I ordered the deep wine color. I'm 5'7", 146lbs and the Misses Medium is a great fit. Enough room for me to wear a thick sweater on cold rainy days, but not too big that I'm swimming in it wearing a light shirt. The hood design is great and should work well to keep the rain off of my face. Now I'm waiting for rain!
