Rated 5 out of 5 by WestervilleShopper cozy and classic, looks expensive
I considered the sizing advice carefully and went P-XL when I usually try REG - L in Bean sweaters. I am really happy with this. The natural color is darker than I expected. I will try to be careful about laundering it, though typically I machine wash and dry Bean cotton sweaters and they take the abuse. The sleeves may end up a little too short but too long of sleeves are a nuisance too. I am pleasantly surprised with the Bean sweaters that I have acquired this year. They are more fitted and therefore more flattering.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MEMama2 I love the style, but...
I have tried two different sizes of the Coveside cardigan and have had the same problem with each: after washing (cold and air-drying), the button holes have stretched, as has the sweater in odd places. After a wash, it felt like this sweater was somewhat stiff and a bit misshapen. The buttons, too, have loosened quickly, so they hang a bit. I have the non-cardigan version of this sweater and have had no problems with it at all. It's not terrible, but I don't end up wearing it very often and I had thought it would be a favorite.

I am 5ft 6 1/4in. tall, 135lbs and I normally wear an XS in LL Bean sweaters but sized up to a SMALL after reading the reviews, glad I did. The small fits perfectly, and the mallard green color is gorgeous! This is a beautifully detailed sweater, so pretty!

I'm glad I had the opportunity to try this on in the store first. I really like the style, the weight of the cotton, and the unique stitch pattern. But it definitely runs small, as others have noted. I usually wear a large, but the sleeves were very snug, particularly in the lower arms, and a little too short. The length was not particularly flattering as it hit above the hip area. I sized up to an XL, which I've never needed to do, and I was much happier with the fit. Slightly large in the body, but the sleeves and overall length were much better. I just don't find shorter sweaters to be very flattering, especially for wearing to work. So I'm happy with the purchase but definitely needed to try on first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Consumerista Even better than expected
This is a classic, a piece that will never, ever go out of style. It's an extremely substantial knit in the fisherman sweater tradition, but in comfortable cotton; warm enough for an East Coast fall and winter, and with a hand-knit look. Even better, it has a modern fit--it conforms flatteringly to one's shape and yet doesn't feel tight. I'm 5'4" and normally wear a size 6; the regular small is just right, even with a tailored shirt or a tee underneath, and it's anything but ordinary-looking. The day it arrived I ordered a second one in another color. Wish I could get them all.

Ah, this cardigan is fashionable and comfortable and on my 5'1, 100 pound frame the sleeves are long enough, but not too long-so I can comfortably wear it as it is shown on my monitor-with a button-down-the front shirt over my 31A chest, with the sweater being comfortably snug, not tight.
I purchased the Petite Extra Small and, as I say, I'm delighted with it.

Great, beautiful sweater. However, over the past year, LL Bean has been making all their sweaters noticeably smaller! I have long arms and this looks like a 3/4 on me! Plus, it is very tight fitting. I would urge everyone to go up an entire size from what you normally order! I'm thin and I'm ordering a large!

Rated 2 out of 5 by chemic6 inconsistent sizing
I purchased this sweater in petite xs navy and natural. The natural was too small for me in all aspects. That is a first for me as I have a hard time finding clothes small enough for me. The navy was about 2 inches longer in length and the sleeve were too long. Yet- they were both marked the same size. Disappointing as it is an attractive sweater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by busyboat Just right, and well-made
I ordered this sweater on sale and because there were petite sizes. I chose Navy in a Large Petite. It is just the right weight for a little warmth indoors (we keep our thermostat at 67 and sometimes that feels chilly here in the Northwest). It's also a nice light layer under a light or midweight jacket. The length doesn't seem particularly short on me, probably because it's a Large, but the sleeves are perfect for my shorter arms. Yay!

Rated 3 out of 5 by llbeanmomincolorado Runs very small!!!
I thought this was a beautiful sweater, nice cable detail and well made. However, it's not just slightly fitted but VERY fitted. normally wear an XL at llbean but would have needed a 1X in this, which it doesn't come in. Too bad, would have loved it.
