I had an LL Bean raincoat, happily, for years. Someone took it at a party. :-(. I ordered this one when it was on sale, and was delighted to be getting a replacement at last.
Unfortunately, not to be. Much too short for good protection in a heavy rain. Hood not removable.

I'm planning to use this raincoat in a colder, wetter climate than where I curently am. But Texas has been surprisingly cold and wet this winter as well, so it's been great to have here this week. This coat has a comfortable added layer of warmth to it without being bulky. It's not very shiny. I plan to use it in an urban, rainy setting and had hoped for a slightly dressier look than it is (though didn't expect it, just would have liked it).
Mostly I'm writing in regard to sizing, since it was a bit confusing to me which size to order. I wear a size 8 comfortably, am 5'2'' and the petite medium is a great fit, falling just above my knees. Plenty of room for lighter layering, even with the middle cinched. Love that the arms snap to make a tighter fit, as my wrists are fairly small.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Inkwells Fits at least two sizes smaller than last season's
I have two of last season's coats in size small, and they fit with room to spare. Just received size small in this version and it won't even zip over my bust. Am worried the medium would still be too snug there. I have not grown, and while I would expect some differences in an updated version, this seems like a pretty extreme fluctuation. No garment measurements listed, and I don't have $600 laying around to allow me to buy three sizes of a coat to get the right size. Multiple exchanges are not usually an option as sizes and colors sell out. I'm pretty disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sunshine908 Runs small
I checked I would recommend, with apprehension as I have not used this Rain Coat yet as I am not sure I should keep it as the size medium I purchased is a tight fit. I did read a review that did say it ran small. I am a size 10 and thought the large would be too big. This is the problem when ordering clothing. I purchased a downs long winter coat last year and it is a size medium; a good fit except the pockets are too small?is this a way of cutting the cost?

This raincoat is the best raincoat I've ever had. I bought it last week in the vibrant blue, a wonderful color to chase away a dreary day, and the large fits perfectly. I'm 5'8", 155 pounds, and this coat even gives me a bit of a waistline, worn with medium weight winter clothing. The Primaloft lining is the same color as the coat. The inside pocket is useful, but I think the addition of a zipper pocket on the outside of the chest would be a good idea. I especially like the hood which is just the right depth and does not need holding with the hand in a driving rain. After washing the coat in cold water, I hung it to dry rather than put it in the dryer. The zipper works smoothly and I like the snap front as well. Thank you, LLBean, for a well made raincoat.

I'm 5'8 /160 and large according to other coats (L) I buy and the description should have been perfect. I tried it on with a pair of yoga pants a cotton T and a loose fitting sweat shirt. It fit like a Med. pulled across my hips/ back side and restricted my arms from normal motion. This is the type coat that'll be put on over ever thing else. This is too small, order up if you plan to use it over mid-weight clothes as the description indicates. I would have given it 5 stars if the description was correct. Now I'll have to send it back for X-Lg... Which annoys me because that cost me $$$, I would have ordered an X-lg the first time if they said "slightly fitted". Come on llbean, get your descriptions right.
It is a beautiful coat and light weight. I didn't try it for rain. I love the length and look forward to my butt staying dry for a change when walking dogs in the rain.
