I was thrilled to find a jacket for travel that was both waterproof and warm, with a zip-out lining to allow wear in warmer seasons. I'd tried on the H2Off jacket with mesh lining in my local LL Bean store, and then ordered this H2Off jacket with the PrimaLoft lining online. (The store does not stock this style.) I was disappointed to find that the fits and shapes of the two were very different, though ordered in the same size. The mesh-lined jacket was roomy, comfortable, and attractive, whereas the PrimaLoft version was snug in the chest and mid-section (with just a light-weight blouse underneath), and cinched up and flared in the front. There was definitely no room for layers underneath with this jacket. Unfortunately, I returned the PrimaLoft jacket and have no other warm waterproof option. So disappointed in the sizing and style.

I purchased the coat in the long and knee length, the coat was not roomy for mid weight clothes underneath and the shape was off from the previous version. The waist drawstring was up too far in the front and about right in the back. The coat shape made a person look barrel shaped from the chest down and was narrow in the shoulders, I don't understand how llbean could change the design so drastically especially at the high price point. Not a good change.

This is the perfect coat. Stylish, functional and practical. All LL zip in/out linings seem to be interchangeable which really works with this coat. Purchased an earlier version a few years ago in a lovely bright pink. BUT this fabric attracts and shows dirt within seconds of removing it from the dryer especially on cuffs and pocket seams. Not good when out on business. YIKES. However, I loved all the other features of the coat - length, hood, lining, easy zip, utterly waterproof, 3 seasonal - that I could forgive it the soiling issue. The trick is to buy the colours that won't reveal the dirt...navy. It is a lovely bright navy and with a print scarf etc, it is perfect for many occasions. Now the pink version is for dog walking and the navy version is for out and about. Great coat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NJSue Bring back the old version!
I loved my previous petite H2Off coat purchased in 2010. I wore it day in and day out for 3 seasons a year. The fit was roomy enough to wear layers on colder days. I removed the hood to give it a dressier look, but was very happy to have the hood on cold/rainy days. The length was perfect (slightly above my knee), long enough to keep me warm and dry but not so long that it was constricting. I am only replacing it now because one of the decorative buttons on the back broke and the fabric is fading a bit along the seams - I can't complain though as this coat has been incredibly durable.
The current version has none of the benefits of my previous coat. It is too narrow and about 3" longer than my old one. I had to unzip it from the bottom to walk or sit in my car. I tried the jacket version and it was too short, barely coming down to my hips. The hood does not detach and the zip out liner does not seem very warm.
I am returning both the coat and jacket versions and hoping that LL Bean will redesign this classic for the better next year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Excellent in heavy rain
This is the best raincoat I've ever owned. It is completely rain proof, even at the seams and front closure, in heavy drenching downpour and wind. The medium length is perfect for keeping my thighs dry. With the lining it is still not very warm, so not a good winter rain coat, but all other seasons is excellent quality.

The perfect coat for traveling.. This coat took us to Rome and Dublin and a few places in between..Always felt perfect for the occasion in it.. Runs a bit big, but I like to layer clothing anyway.

I do a lot of traveling and believe in layering. this is too fitted to do this. It is not a relaxed fit. I have an older version if this coat and the styling was perfect--Ragland sleeves with room for a fleece sweater. I plan on returning it.

I purchased a version of this coat many years ago. I still have it in a pretty light blue, perfect condition. I wanted a new raincoat to wear for everyday with a lining to keep me cozy during fall and spring. I don't think this coat is warm enough, very thin quilted lining in the body and nothing in the sleeves. I ordered three different sizes because the reviews were very conflicting. My other coat, without that ridiculous cinch in the middle, is a size PXL. I am able to comfortably layer a heavy sweater underneath. This new style however, without a sweater is tight across the chest and butt, and puffs out in front and sides. RXL was no better. 1X fits comfortably but looks very strange due to the awkward design. Also I am only 5'2" and the waistline on the raincoat is about 3 inches above my natural waistline. I may keep the coat because I like the color, Dark Orchid, the material, snaps instead of Velcro on the front flap and cuffs, and the length of the coat (1 to 2 inches below my knees). LLBean, please return to the older version and make the lining more substantial, also prettier colors.

I bought this to wear on a cruise to Alaska and it was perfect. If needed, wear a fleece underneath for added warmth or even a thin jacket. This keeps the heat in and the moisture off. Very nice choice for an outer layer. So glad I had this for my trip.

I purchased this coat in September of 2015 and have found it to be more versatile than I expected. I love the coat. I am finding that I wear it in the winter when there is wet snow and the temperature is 25 degrees or higher. I also wear it more frequently than my down coats/jackets when I'm shopping in the winter months because it isn't so hot when I'm in the store. As far as the fit, I like that it has a little shape to it compared to my down coats. I'd say it fits a little slimmer than my usual size S from LLBean but not to the point where it's too tight. Very nice coat. I have no complaints at all.
