Rated 5 out of 5 by GJZH GREAT JACKET FOR ICELAND!
I purchased this jacket to wear in Iceland. I thought it would be great for keeping out the elements; wind, rain, snow, sleet, and hail while treking about on the trails in Iceland. It performed well and was a great jacket for layering. The weather in Iceland can change at a moments notice. When we woke in the morning and it was cool and sun shining the jacket was good, but later as we traveled out to the mountains and the weather became quite brisk with wind and sometimes rain or snow the jacket performed well. I never removed the lining and layered it over a shirt and sweater and used the hood to keep my head dry. Absolutely recommend this jacket if you are traveling to Iceland in late winter months, March, April, May. Make certain you layer with a sweater, knit hat and gloves and you are good to go! It did the job of keeping me warm and dry in all kinds of weather. It also has an inside zipper pocket large enough to hold my wallet, cell phone, and extra camera batteries and SD cards. Love this coat...Nice heavy zippers that work both ways. If I could recommend anything it would be more inside pockets with zippers.

I walk almost a mile to and from the L every day and had to get this jacket for the cold, rainy Chicago Spring weather. It's perfect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by justduckytoo Too bulky
Wanted a lightweight jacket for an upcoming trip to Italy and was really hoping this jacket would fit the bill. The inner pocket and hood were strong selling points for me. But sadly, I found this jacket to be bulky and a wrinkled mess. It would not even look nice for casual wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DiMar Perfect for cool spring/fall wear in the midwest
Love the asphalt color, between a taupe and gray color. I do wish the vertical front pocket had a closure of some sort, but there is an inside pocket for a phone. The sleeves are unlined but run fairly wide, but that is for bulkier sweater and layers.. I really like it though and it's a keeper! I wear a size 10 and sometimes a 12, and the medium is perfect.

I have only worn this jacket about six times and have yet to be caught in a real downpour, so can't advise on whether or not it is truly waterproof. That said, however, it's a very comfortable jacket to wear and easy to zip. I wanted a jacket that I could wear over a sweatshirt (ordered the Medium size). It's a bit snug but I think when I remove the lining the size will feel perfect. The size Large was way to big for me.
The jacket looks to be well-made and stylish and the sleeve length is good for me.
I am 5'8" and weigh 130 lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RRivergirl Like it, would like more colors
I ordered this jacket late in the winter, so the colors I liked (wine or teal) were sold out. I ended up getting black, which wasn't what I wanted. But it is just the right weight for mild winter weather, very comfortable. I had a similar LLBean jacket in red years ago that I sadly got paint on. That one had a removable hood, which I wish this one did.

Rated 2 out of 5 by bschenen Meh. Great fabric, odd cut
I really wanted to like this coat. I have a long H2Off coat from some years back when the styling was sleek and unencumbered. Now too many details, weird inverted pleat... Strange cut that is too small in one size and too big in the other... And both look huge! The top is very big and wide... Then something approximating a waistline which is too low so it catches on the hips. NOT flattering. I've bought it before and I somehow thought one of us would have changed. But no such luck. Have to send it back yet again. Please. Simple. Unencumbered. Clean lines. Is it too much to ask? Ever hopeful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by PCD1 Very disappointed with this coat
I bought this coat for days when the temperature would be 40-45 deg or above. On the plus side, I do like the style of the coat and it does repel water very well. However on the negative side I found the pockets are not angled deep so if you put your car keys in the pockets, they can fall back out. I also noticed that the sleeves of the removable liner are of thin nylon and not the same as the torso part of the liner which is heavier and blocks the wind. When I was pumping gas on a windy day, my arms were freezing but my torso was warm. There is also a problem with the length of the sleeves. I am 5' 2" so I ordered a Petite large. I had to roll the sleeves up because they were down to the end of my fingers. I am really disappointed with this coat. I have bought numerous coats from LL Bean over the years and this is the first coat which I can say is not worth the high price tag for the lack of quality and incorrect sizing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ElaineGSD Wetter inside than out!
I returned this jacket. It doesn't breathe. That means in light rain, even with the liner removed, you get wetter inside the jacket due to condensation and sweat than you would be if you weren't wearing the jacket.
Might be good in areas where downpours are common, but here in California it just doesn't make sense.
The jacket is tailored beautifully, nicely made, plus has a very flattering cut and the purple color is lovely. I'm sad that it didn't work for me.

I bought about 10 jackets and sent them all back except this style in a 1X. Several of the ones I tried were different sizes or versions of this one. I am a plus size woman with short arms. Most LLBean jackets have arms so long they hang down past the tips of my fingers! Not so with this plus size jacket. I did have to spend quite a bit of money at the Gore-tex repair place in Seattle where they added an extra half snap onto the cuffs so I could really tighten up the sleeves on my wrists. I hate them getting in the way when I wash my hands.
I love the magenta color and have gotten several compliments on how cute the color and style are. It looks fancier and more feminine than most of my other jackets so I'm sure to wear it with a dress. It has nice looking pockets that don't have zippers like so many sportier jackets do. There is a zippered pocket on the interior that has plenty of room for a wallet or sunglasses.
This jacket is light weight and comfortable. I bought it roomy enough to fit over my fleece cardigan when the weather is chilly. I doubt if I'll use the liner much since I only bought the lined version because it seemed to have a bit more room across the back so it doesn't constrict my arms or shoulders.
The thing I love most about this jacket is the snap storm flap. I rarely zip my jacket because I like the collar open and the ease of sitting down when getting in the car. Often when I'm out for a walk I'll just close one or two snaps instead. Hook and loop closures aren't good for this and tend to get stuck to my gloves.
This rain jacket is a good choice for the Pacific Northwest.
