I bought two of these last year. I started with the size I can virtually always fit into, with some room. Nope, not in this dress. I ordered a size larger, which fit until it was washed. I considered buying one this year, again, one size larger, but after trying on the now slightly too small one, decided not to. I'm long waisted, and these dresses are very short waisted. So even in a larger size I wouldn't actually be happy. You can't tell from the photo, but there's a stitched in waist in this dress. It seems ridiculous; if this had been constructed as a shift it could fit a variety of body types, and would probably be easier and less expensive to construct. So, if you're short waisted, and buy a dress about two sizes larger than your regular size, this is a lovely dress. I'll take my two to the thrift shop.

I am glad I ordered this, as I am looking to add a few cool dresses to my wardrobe to be prepared for warm weather this summer. The fabric seems like it will be light, breathable & comfortable to wear on warm days.
Love the color of the mallard green.
I am glad I ordered up in size to a 6. Usually a 4 in bean sizes would be roomy. This dress is cut so it fits very snug at the bust, nearly gapping at one set of buttons. The reviews advising to size up really helped me! I would consider exchanging it for an 8, but I can see the back torso of the dress would be bunching out & fit oddly if I did.
Dress hits very slightly above the knee on me, the rounded hem of the dress & side slit still is modest enough of a length for me.

With that incomparable Wisteria Blue color and gentle floral pattern, I knew immediately that I wanted this dress.
But in the past, size 4's were too big, especially with sleeveless armholes. So I procrastinated the longest time, the clock ticking ...
What to buy, Petite or Regular? And should I buy it at all? It might be too big. Many found the dress too short, and I wasn't sure if I could wear a Summery Sleeveless linen dress with tights - though I'm always open to suggestion.
The reviewers were helpful, especially when describing the armholes as small, the shortness of the Petite, and where on the knee the Regular fell in relation to their height.
Because the armholes were small, I felt the 4 would fit me, and it did, perfectly. And I opted for the Regular, even though I'm only 5 feet tall. That was because the dress curved upward at the sides, making it even shorter than in front. I have nothing against short dresses, but I'm also happy with the length I bought - I can sit down with less worry! And then there's always the possibility of shrinkage in length. If I decide I want it shorter, I can always hem it.
Hope this helps someone who's been hesitant to buy. And look at that price!

This dress is lovely. The green is striking, and the material is soft and a nice weight. But I agree with a previous reviewer - it looks beautiful on me... until I sit down. The entire bottom of the dress pulls and puckers between the buttons, to the point that it's really open. So, it will be going back.

This is a very good weight of linen. Not heavy or tissue thin, as in
some linen materials. I purchased a size 12. It is nearly a perfect dress. It pulls a bit at the bust opening, but not as much when I
changed into a bra that reduces one a size. FYI: 5'9, weight 148 lbs., bust 38.5, waist 31, and hips 38.5. In other brand dresses
which are a size 12 there is usually more room overall in the fit.
I actually like that this dress has no gaping under the arm. This
is a fitted dress as stated in the description, and it does has darts in the bust, back on either side of the spine, and back and front
waist darts as well, plus having a stitched waistline where the belt sits. The belt loops on me sit at my waist when the belt is tied. It
may be that I am short waisted for some one who is tall. I would recommend trying this dress. I am going to wash it and see if I can shake it and pull it a bit while it is damp, and allow it to air dry.
I do this with all my jeans, by standing on the hems while they are damp then pulling on them at the waist with an upward movement
so that the pant lengthens out a bit. I may do so with this dress as well, but not for length, but for the bust and waist. It doesn't fit me
tightly, but is fitted and I want to see if I can loosen the ease a bit.
The length is great, just barely above my knee. Love the neutral linen color. I think I just might have talked myself into keeping it!

When I am standing this dress looks nice, but it is cut short. I usually find petites to be long-waisted, but this one is actually almost short-waisted on me, and the skirt is short -- well above the knee. When I sit down, the bottom of the front gapes open, way higher than I am comfortable with! I find myself constantly holding the hem shut with my hand if I am sitting where my lap can be seen. I plan to sew the front shut, but I am afraid that then the side seams may not hold at the bottom. We'll see. Just make the dress three inches longer next time, and all will be fine!

I am 5'3" 120 lbs. I can range from a 6 to 8. I ordered an 8. Fits perfect but like other reviews this is a slim fit. It has thread belt loops that seemed a bit high but that is not a big deal because they can be cut off or moved. The arm holes seemed a little small. I would rather have them small than showing big pits. The fabric is beautiful. A good weight and no slip needed. The dress hits me right at the knee. Really cute dress that can be worn to casual work place or a date

This is an excellent summer dress. It's comfortable and can look casual or dressy depending on your accessories. The Cirrus Blue is that perfect periwinkle I always look for and hardly ever find.
Note on sizing: It runs true to other manufacturers sizes; not the usual, extra roomy llbean sizing.

I ordered this dress in both the black and blue and in petite and regular sizes. I'm 5'2" (on a good day) and normally wear a size 2 or 4 petite. The cut of the 4 petite is extremely short - the waist hit 3" above my waistline and the whole fit was more like a very small 2 petite. I'm glad I ordered the 4 regular in both colors because the fit is perfect and the skirt hits right at the middle of my knee. I agree with the other reviewers about the fabric as it's a very nice weight. I think these dresses will be seeing a lot of wear over the next several months. Suggestion to LLBean - please give the overall dress length in your description.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rexa comfy but not universally flattering
I ordered this online and have kept it, though I have some minor complaints. As the reviewer below posted, it can be quite short ,especially if you have long legs as I do, but the weight is really nice. I wish it was more tapered in the waist as it can look a little dumpy if you don't cinch it tight and I may have mine taken it a bit to give it a little more appeal. Overall a nice summer dress, just not the ultimate.
