Bought these last minute for our trip to Ireland. I take a 7 but ordered a 7.5 as hiking shoes always run small for me and like to have option of wearing thicker socks. Fit is perfect for me. At first they were a bit snug around the middle of my larger foot but after wearing for a few days they were fine. The color is more fuschia/purple and gray. Wasn't sure as some pics showed a tan color. OK so we were in Ireland, which is wet, and we hiked in a bog....these shoes stayed completely dry. The only issue someone might have is that the heel is low cut so obviously if you step in water that goes over the heel then they will get wet inside. But it does say low heel on the description. After covering them with bog mud I found puddles to splash in to get the mud off...still dry even when the toe was covered with water. I did put a gel heel cushion under the shoe pad for a little spring and the heel runs a bit loose because it's low cut but I couldn't see knocking down a point for that as I really like these shoes!

I have a field job that requires a good pair of well-made waterproof boots. I can count on the LL Bean duck boots to keep my feet dry, but I was looking for a shoe that was more for hiking over the uneven terrain I encounter during my work day. I walk about 5 miles a day for work, so I was looking for comfort and durability as well as waterproof. I did not find them in these hiking boots. First, they aren't waterproof. Or perhaps they were for the first puddle, but once they got wet, it soaked through. I cannot express the discomfort of walking around in wet socks all day. Second, they were uncomfortable. My normal shoe size varies between a 9 and a 9.5, so I went with a 9.5. Nope, too small. Reordered a 10 and wear them, though they are just uncomfortable. I could've gone another size up. After 6 months, I'm so disappointed in them that I'm sending them back. I did not pay $120 for uncomfortable, non-waterproof hiking shoes.

These boots are nice looking, but they are too narrow in the toe area, for me anyway. I bought them for hiking, I can't , if my toes are scrunched up and rubbing. I have chosen to get a refund rather than an exchange, I think I'll go and try some on, so I won't have to bother with sending another pair back.

I am very happy with the stability and traction this shoe provides. I bought this primarily due to the "Select Grip" outsole being advertised as giving traction in cold and wet conditions. I found the grip on this shoe to be excellent in cold and wet conditions.
I am recovering from an ankle fracture. I trusted this shoe to get me safely to my physical therapy appointments during ice and snow and it has worked out well. I went a half size bigger due to the foot swelling on my injured foot. I wear a thin sock on the injured foot and thick socks on the normal foot and the fit is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HoundDogs Comfortable, great fit and meant for my feet!
I loved how these looked, but I was hesitant to order due to the narrow width. My feet are a size 8, and kind of wide. They arrived in a couple of days, and fit true to my size with plenty of room for my feet. I got them for walking & hiking. Highly recommend them. I wore them right out of the box. Thanks, LL Bean!
