Rated 2 out of 5áby Ravendon Not as good as the original
I'd prefer a looser fit that you can layer underneath easier. I'd also prefer a rear buttwarmer flap like on the original.

Rated 4 out of 5áby ChicagoBurbs66 Almost perfect coat!
I purchased this coat in Oct 2014 and I have been very happy with it! It's very light weight but really warm. I live in the Chicago area and generally do not like wearing coats because they're too bulky but this one is great!
It's surprisingly warm when running errands or being active outside. It's got great pockets to carry your cell, gloves and whatever else you might need and the zippers insure you won't loose anything.
The only drawback is they should have put a draw string on the hood so on windy/rainy days you can keep the hood in place. I found the size to run true to other winter coats. I am 5' 11'' and 190 bought the XL which is a very comfortable fit.
Definitely recommend this coat to those who don't like wearing coats but some day's it's just too cold to go without one!

Rated 4 out of 5áby DRBrit Excellent but a needs Drawstring for Hood
This is my favorite insulated jacket for Spring, Fall and Winter wear in temps down to the upper teens. I usually wear undershirt + lightweight turtleneck layers and am plenty warm. The only significant drawback is that it NEEDS A DRAWSTRING FOR HOOD. I sewed two 1" 'tucks' into the edge of the hood and then sewed them down flat. That gives a nice snug and toasty fit when zipped right up to my chin and adds a lot to the warm feeling. If the hood had a drawstring I would date this product a 5++!

Rated 4 out of 5áby vaughn2974 Surprisingly warm for weight - needs hood cinch
This jacket is is surprisingly warm given it's incredibly light weight. Not much heavier than a UL 850 fill down vest I also own but it is less puffy. I have walked 1 hour plus in 30 degree weather with nothing more than a t-shirt underneath without any issues. The biggest complaint like many others is the lack of some type of cinch tool on the hood. This reduces the insulation qualities of the hood but still helps repel wind and water. Overall I really like this jacket and would like to see the hood improved in the future.

Rated 2 out of 5áby jLman Hood needs refinement
I own the hood less version of this jacket, same model year, and it is a favorite. . So I thought I would get a hooded version. Hoods are normally really great at trapping body heat, but to do so, the closure around the face should have some sort of adjustment This hood has no drawstring for the face opening and therefore cannot seal your body heat in. If you have wind blowing around in your hood, or blowing the hood off your head, what's the point? As a survival piece, or a piece you sleep in while backpacking, this jacket needs a drawstring for the hood. Finally I have an extra large head. The hood on the size large must be made to go over a helmet. It just flopped around on my head when I zipped up the jacket. LLBean, please add the drawstring to next year's model. I'll wait.

Rated 1 out of 5áby NWICustomer Bring back the previous version of this Jacket!!!
I currently have a Primaloft Hooded pack away jacket (Men's Large) that is about a year old. A family member raved about it, so the rest of my family had to buy one also. It is by far the best jacket I have ever purchased, so I decided to buy 2 more recently. When I received this "new & improved" version of the jacket, I was extremely disappointed. This jacket is not at all like the one I have. It is really thin and light, and feels more like a windbreaker than a cold weather jacket. The amount of insulation in it is at least half compared to the one I have. They also changed the fit to a slimmer fit(in a man's jacket?). I immediately called customer service thinking I purchased the wrong one. I was told the previous "model" was discontinued, and this is the new style. I will be returning the two I just purchased plus one I purchased for a friend. I am completely disappointed with L.L. Bean.
Now I understand why there are so many bad reviews. I really hope L.L.Bean takes these reviews into consideration and brings back the previous mode/version.

Rated 2 out of 5áby chancers Looks nice, but....
It's too light and flimsy. Not enough material to keep me warm. The exterior cloth is too thin and not durable. Years ago I bought the Primaloft hooded jacket. That jacket was 3 times as thick (yet still light weight and very warm). Since that jacket served me so well, I decided to buy another one. Boy, I was disappointed. The new jacket was nothing like my old Primaloft jacket. Also, the large size did not fit. The arms and shoulder regions were too tight.
I sent it back. I cannot recommend this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5áby mladetto Great Layer for cold weather hiking
Great super light weight jacket for when you're active outside in the cold. Have worn it hiking, with only a T-shirt underneath and stayed very warm; Temps in high 20s. Make sure you understand the "15F" comfort rating to not be caught off guard. To reach this temp, you have to wear quite a bid of clothing under the coat. Also great to throw in your pack for when you stop and need a warmth layer.

Rated 4 out of 5áby NHGary Good addition for winter hikes
Hard to find Primaloft jacket with hood (A little Velcro can partially compensate for lack of hood adjustment).
Primaloft fill in hood sufficent for warmth.
At 5'9", 160lbs medium fit fine-Mid to heavy weight base layer underneath is more than sufficient for day hikes down to 30 degrees in the Whites.
Packability and light weight make it perfect for smaller backpacks
