Rated 5 out of 5áby SYinAZ Light, Warm, Packable!
My wife and both daughters have this jacket and love its versatility. Based on the reviews for the men's version, I ordered one size larger and the fit is just right. It will be a perfect, packable travel companion for changeable weather trips.

Warm even though it is light weight. Wind resistant and the hood came in handy crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

I must admit that I was a little hesitant when I ordered this jacket after reading a number of reviews stating the the "redesign" was a mistake and that the jacket no longer fit as well as its predecessor. However, I wanted a Primaloft pack-able jacket to complement my down light jacket, so took a chance. And I'm glad I did. The jacket (L) fits me perfectly (6', 175 pounds) and is quite warm for such a light weight garment. The only change I might recommend would be a drawstring in the hood for a tighter fit in certain conditions.

Got mine today and I immediately took it out for a walk with my dog... The fit is really designed to go over a light sweater, fleece zipper T or the alike..
I am writing this review while wearing the jacket.
Sleeves are long enough for reach without the annoying "bunching" -
Chest is a bit loose if one doesn't wear a sweater; I only had a T-shirt underneath the jacket; it didn't bother me at all..
I tried on a fleece Zip-T, and the fit is perfect -
Very light and very warm for its size.. I am not sure what else one can ask for...
I am sure this jacket will be with me for most of the fishing trips, travelling and walk about town....

Very comfortable jacket for spring and fall weather...great for layering over a fleece in colder weather. I am very happy with my purchase. I do however agree with some of the other reviewers on the sleeve fit. I am a female and the men's extra large is a great fit for me but I do not have men's biceps. If I were a male that usually wore an extra large definitely order a larger size, the upper arms would be tight on anyone that does not have wimpy arms.

Rated 3 out of 5áby Backpacker68 Hood is an afterthought
I give 5 stars for the coat and 1 star for the hood. The hood on this jacket is not adjustable and is so thin that it reminds me of the fold up hoods that could be zipped into the collars of some rain jackets. It is definitely not worth another $20 over the price of the regular jacket. My recommendation is to save your money and wear a hat with the jacket. The jacket by itself is not going to keep you warm in the winter without a rain shell, but it's warm for it's weight and very packable. Just don't expect it to be equal in warmth with a good down jacket. Of course, the advantage is it doesn't lose all it's warmth when wet like a down jacket.

Rated 1 out of 5áby RickyDC Way too short
I have an older Ascent Packaway jacket that I love, but my son took it from me so I thought i would replace it. The new jacket is way too short. its 2 inches shorter than the older model. The tall, while long enough in the body is way too long in the sleeves. Had to return it and wait to see if they come out with a new model in the fall that is longer in the body.

Rated 5 out of 5áby NJKayaker Great Jacket!
I have been wearing the vest for over a year and I just got the hooded jacket. I love how it is a active cut to layer under a shell. I did not go up a size but I can see how some people will want to.
My girlfriend liked it so much she took it for me, I have a women's on order for her. This is my new spring, fall, light winter jacket. It also packs very easy into its pocket.

Rated 3 out of 5áby BrooklynNY Versatile
Overall, I recommend this jacket due to its versatility and good looks. I would wear this alone in 40+ degrees Fahrenheit or as a mid layer, due to its weight and thinness It is very, very thin, and it weighs only at around 13 ounces in a large. It also has a wind flap behind the front center zipper and it has cinch cords at that bottom to help prevent the wind from entering.
As a comparison, the L.L. Bean Ultralight down sweater is lighter in weight (only 10 ounces) and to me slightly warmer (even though they are both rated at 35 degrees F.), but the down sweater leaks a lot of down, so for this reason alone, I recommend the Ascent packaway over the down sweater.
Personally, I wish that the back of the Ascent packaway jacket was longer. It seems to me that the front of the coat may be longer than the back of it, which is a little weird for me. Also, for me, the collar should be higher and a little snugger.

Rated 5 out of 5áby a2nwb Lightweight, form-fitted, warm, stylish
This jacket is surprisingly warm given how lightweight and thin it is. I've tested in temperatures ranging from 20-50, and for me it is most comfortable in the 30-45 range. If I were to wear in significantly colder weather it would be as a layer under another jacket.
Regarding fit, this jacket is very form-fitting. For comparative reference, a traditionally-fit Large Tall L.L. Bean jacket is normally a bit loose and hangs an inch or two below my waist, but the Large Tall size in this jacket hugs my skin and hangs right at my waist. There isn't much room for more than a base layer and maybe one shirt under this jacket. If you like a bit more room/flexibility you might want to go up a size. That said, one advantage of its fit is the jacket's tremendous slimming effect.
