Rated 1 out of 5 by NWICustomer Bring back the previous version of this Jacket!!!
I currently have a Primaloft Hooded pack away jacket (Men's Large) that is about a year old. A family member raved about it, so the rest of my family had to buy one also. It is by far the best jacket I have ever purchased, so I decided to buy 2 more recently. When I received this "new & improved" version of the jacket, I was extremely disappointed. This jacket is not at all like the one I have. It is really thin and light, and feels more like a windbreaker than a cold weather jacket. The amount of insulation in it is at least half compared to the one I have. They also changed the fit to a slimmer fit(in a man's jacket?). I immediately called customer service thinking I purchased the wrong one. I was told the previous "model" was discontinued, and this is the new style. I will be returning the two I just purchased plus one I purchased for a friend. I am completely disappointed with L.L. Bean.
Now I understand why there are so many bad reviews. I really hope L.L.Bean takes these reviews into consideration and brings back the previous mode/version.

Rated 2 out of 5 by chancers Looks nice, but....
It's too light and flimsy. Not enough material to keep me warm. The exterior cloth is too thin and not durable. Years ago I bought the Primaloft hooded jacket. That jacket was 3 times as thick (yet still light weight and very warm). Since that jacket served me so well, I decided to buy another one. Boy, I was disappointed. The new jacket was nothing like my old Primaloft jacket. Also, the large size did not fit. The arms and shoulder regions were too tight.
I sent it back. I cannot recommend this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mladetto Great Layer for cold weather hiking
Great super light weight jacket for when you're active outside in the cold. Have worn it hiking, with only a T-shirt underneath and stayed very warm; Temps in high 20s. Make sure you understand the "15F" comfort rating to not be caught off guard. To reach this temp, you have to wear quite a bid of clothing under the coat. Also great to throw in your pack for when you stop and need a warmth layer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NHGary Good addition for winter hikes
Hard to find Primaloft jacket with hood (A little Velcro can partially compensate for lack of hood adjustment).
Primaloft fill in hood sufficent for warmth.
At 5'9", 160lbs medium fit fine-Mid to heavy weight base layer underneath is more than sufficient for day hikes down to 30 degrees in the Whites.
Packability and light weight make it perfect for smaller backpacks

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarrieT Awesome jacket! Fits great!
I have the pullover 1/4 zip style of this jacket and wanted a full zip as well to use as an easy on/off extra layer. Well, this jacket fits the bill! Its super lightweight, yet incredibly warm! It fits perfectly under my other waterproof LL Bean Primaloft jacket, so it works great as the extra layer. It also works great on its own. I can see myself reaching for this jacket a lot this fall and winter. I love the length, the pocket placement, the zipper and how it comes right up over my chin and the hood fits me perfectly. I know there's no drawstring, but I don't think I'll need one unless its a super windy day. This was definitely a good buy!

Good Jacket, as specified. Didnt like the fact that in the picture the zipper is the same color as the jacket, when i received the package and opened the bag the zipper is grey :-(

Rated 4 out of 5 Great Jacket, - needs hood closure.
Pro - I was glad to find a PrimaLoft jacket with a hood. I really love PrimaLoft for its insulation, weight, loft, and compressibility attributes. My old Columbia PrimaLoft jacket was my standard insulation layer for extreme conditions backpacking for many years. My only wish was that it had a hood because I really don't like cold drafts on my neck.
Con - I won't buy this jacket unless/until it has a drawstring closure around the hood. Without some method of tightening the hood, wind can blow in and around your head. I don't believe this jacket is suitable for field conditions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by WinterBiker Arms too small
The upper arms are too small in my size L-Tall jacket. I'm disappointed since otherwise it is a very nice jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChooChoo927 great warmth to weight ratio
Great jacket. Good value too. I can use it by itself in weather down to the 40's or layered under a shell when colder. Has some wind and light rain protection.
I like how it can pack into its own pocket. When clipped to my climbing harness it's hardly noticeable, but great to put on while belaying. It's also generally long enough so it doesn't slide up over my harness (can't really access the side pockets under a harness though).
If I were to change anything, I'd add a drawstring to the hood. That would keep my head warmer and keep out the wind better. Because the jacket material is so light, it will tear if you scrap against rough rock, say climbing a wide crack, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SYinAZ Light, Warm, Packable!
My wife and both daughters have this jacket and love its versatility. Based on the reviews for the men's version, I ordered one size larger and the fit is just right. It will be a perfect, packable travel companion for changeable weather trips.
