Rated 5 out of 5 by CailinBeag A jacket for all weathers!
Not sure if it's necessary to write a review, as this jacket already has so many 5 stars? However, I've just purchased the same one again, same color, except the price sadly has gone up $25! So, if you see this one for any less than $159 go grab yourself one! I decided to do this in case they discontinued it. Would have liked a different color but didn't like the other selection.
I am 5'4 weigh 153 lbs and bought the large which is perfect under a tee or light sweater. I wore it this summer in a very wet and windy France sailing along the Canal du Midi for 11 days. It kept out every bit of wind and the jacket kept me toasty and dry. On to Ireland next where again it was windy, wet and cool. Went shopping and found all the zipped pockets very handy, especially the one inside the jacket for my wallet so I didn't have to carry a purse! I swore to my husband the moment we got back I was going to write a great review as this jacket definitely deserves one! So use this review twice, because I bought the same one for him and he loves his too especially as he wore it sitting on the top deck driving the boat and it kept him warm and dry!

Rated 4 out of 5 by MariusJ My best lightweight jacket so far.
My best lightweight jacket so far. Only minor inconvenience - both front pocket zippers got stuck by picking up inner fabric. Maybe that's already addressed with newer model. Mine is > 5 years old.

I've been buying my 16 year old son's jackets and coats from here since Pre-K have never been disappointed til now. Only 3 months old and is getting fuzzy on back of jacket. Good news LLBean has the best customer service and I know they will replace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PistachioinNM My "go to" jacket
I purchased this PrimaLoft hooded Packaway two years ago and find myself reaching for it 85% of the time I grab a jacket. When travelling or on those cold, windy days in the teens, I wear a breathable shell parka over top. The weight and pack-ability are welcome when back packing, hiking, snow shoeing, or travelling. Fit is a little loose around my 5'9", 146 lb frame, but it allows layering with a bulky sweater on very cold days. The drawstring at the bottom seals in heat, when I'm wearing a tee shirt underneath.
This jacket has kept me warm, and surprisingly dry in a 30 minute Spring down burst. The "water resistant" fabric beaded, at first, but after 10 minutes and pelting with hail, the outer shell was soaked, although the fabric against my back and sides was predominately dry by the time the sun reappeared. Impressive.
After two years of regular use the nylon shell has picked up a few runs in the fabric and stitching, but no tears. I can't detect any thin spots forming in the fill, but then again, the entire lining of the fill is amazingly thin for the warmth this jacket provides. The elastic in the cuffs is beginning to lose some elasticity on my right (dominant) arm. The chest pocket holds a thin fleece hat or headband for ready access. The chest pocket is a bit small for a phablet.
I bought the Hooded PrimaLoft Packaway after living with the un-hooded model for a year. The Hooded jacket is much more utilitarian and weighs only 0.7 oz more than the un-hooded jacket (which I occasionally wear as my "house coat"). The hooded model is more difficult to stuff into the built-in stow pocket and the zipper often gets stuck onto the fabric when closing/opening the stow pocket. Regardless of the minor issues, I am quite glad I bought this jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by creativeusername Great jacket but needs something
This is my second winter with this jacket and I'm loving it except for one thing.
Sizing: The XL fits my 6' 2", 220 pound body perfectly. The cut is just long enough to cover everything.
Warmth: I have worn this jacket to the low 30's-high 20's and have been warm with just a t-shirt underneath, if I'm active (hiking, walking the dog, playing in the snow). You do start to feel the chill though, when you stop. The cut is big enough to layer, so you can add additional layers for warmth when necessary.
Colors: I saw all the colors in the store and they were beautiful. I went with classic black though, so It can be worn on the trail and in town without going out of style.
Hood: the hood is an excellent addition but there are no adjustments. It is a bit big and when turning my head, the hood doesn't move so it blocks my vision. When wearing a ski hat under it, the hood fits fine, but you shouldn't have to wear a hat every time you use the hood. Even one adjustment pull at the hood opening would be enough to close it down snuggly and articulate with your movement.
All in all, I would recommend this jacket.

I purchased this for my boyfriend when he saw mine and how light and warm it is - perfect backpacking jacket! I bought it in his favorite color, green ("kelp green" here), but it was very brown. Online it looks like a pewter with brown undertones, so I should have expected the unexpected with "green" in the name, but aside from that, I love it. (And he likes it, so that's all that matters.) There are several differences between the men's and women's (quilting pattern, chest pocket placement, logo placement) but it's serving its purpose as expected. He wears a M tall in all his shirts, but my jacket had a nice length, so I took a chance and got a M reg. and it's perfect.
I never even thought about a drawstring on the hood until some men mentioned it here (no women made mention of it) and now I'm thinking that would be helpful; while it does have a slight elastic around it, it does blow off in high winds if you're not wearing a hat or beanie...it stayed put when wearing them. (My opinion goes for this one, too, that the hood should be stowaway and/or removable, rather than an entirely different jacket.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scubka Excellent warmth, fits very well and light
Very pleased with this purchase. Although no draw cord in the hood, when zipped up all the way, hood stays put. Wore this coat for the 1st time up in Steamboat, Colorado durning a very cold snap (-10F) recently and it performed like a champ with only a tee shirt and long underwear top underneath. LL Bean does it again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Farther Nice but:
Let me start by saying I love Primaloft insulation. I haven't decided to keep the jacket yet and the tags are still on it. I knew they ran small so I sized up to an XXL. Still it is slightly snug across the shoulders (5'8" & 230 lbs.) but the waist is roomie. The lack of hood adjustment and lack of thumb holes in the sleeves could be a deal breaker. It would have been nice to have a couple of interior pockets for gloves and beanie too. For the price it should have all those features. I have a LLBean windproof fleece hoodie that has no adjustment for the hood either. Who at LLBean is designing hoods with no adjustment.
