Rated 4 out of 5 by ActiveOhioan Great pants for work or play
I bought these pants this summer to wear for work- I work for a hardware retailer, and spend much of the day bending, stretching, stooping, on my knees, etc.- and wanted pants that would stand up to the physical challenges of my work.
After six months of wearing them (almost daily) for work, I am very pleased with these pants. The fabric is very tough and abrasion resistant, the cut is loose enough for comfort but refined enough to be professional looking, the articulated knees provide great comfort and range of motion, and the side utility pockets are great for cell phone, utility knife, etc.
My only criticism of these pants is the rear pockets- the velcro flapped pockets don't add anything but bulk on the rear....patch pockets would perform just as well, and look better, in my opinion.
I have come to enjoy wearing these pants outside of work as well- great for active work around the yard, etc.
Great pant- strongly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Torontobeanfan A Great Pair of Pants
I originally bought a pair of this type of pants made by another company last winter when I was in California. I have always joined wearing them as I find them more comfortable and more durable than my jeans. When I went to L.L. Bean a couple of weeks ago, I checked to see if they had a similar type of pants to my current pair. To my pleasure I found these Riverton pants which were like the pants that I have but better. These pants have zippered and Velcro pockets which give me more security when I wear them travelling. I love these new pants and will highly recommend them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by nospecialcharacters Wide Waist, Tight Legs
Waist runs 1.5-2" larger than Carhartt or Wrangler pants. I normally wear a 33 or 34" waist depending on season. The 34 felt like a 36. Thought maybe it was a fluke and ordered a pair in 33 but felt like they were in the 34 to 35 range. Length seemed accurate (34" inseam).
Only has five belt loops instead of the seven that a rugged set of pants needs to function well with a belt.
FInally, the legs felt constricting and slightly tight, despite an attempt at incorporating articulated knees into the design. I wouldn't want to go for a hike in these; the tight legs would drive me up the wall. I wound up purchasing a pair from a different company that had articulated knees that did function well to help make their pants feel exceptionally comfortable.
I wanted to like them, but must recommend that LL Bean go back to the drawing board with this model.

Perfect pant for an active man. Made for a mans body. not skinny shapeless men. Big legs, big seat narrow waist. Perfect pair of pants thanks LLBean. Ones more you filled a gap left by current trends.

This is the second pair I've purchased. Love the fit, the pockets, and the material, which a bit lighter than denim and cooler in the summer.

Love these pants. The leg pockets are perfect for phones and other valuables. Velcro rear pockets certainly retain a wallet! Need more color choices. I bought both colors available and will buy more. Greta looking casual work pant. I wish the shorts version had the same pockets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greatpants123 These pants are GREAT
I bought these because I have the winter version, which I also really like.
These are very comfortable, versatile and fit really well. I like them so much I bought them in two colors
They are stylish enough to wear to work and go out but still rugged if you want to hang out or go for a walk.
All around great pants.
Put out more stuff like this LL Bean!

My husband was so disappointed in these pants. He tried them on in the store and they fit just fine. Got them home, washed on cold dried on high and they shrank to the point of being unwearable. The waist is so tight he cannot close the button. I am going to try moving the button so he can get some use out of them.

I work in the green industry. (Think landscape and tree care). These are the perfect pants for work. Look good enough to meet with clients and administrators, but are functional enough to be with the crew on the job site. Material is tough but compliant. Fit great. Love the look.

These pants are a cotton/nylon blend (30-some% nylon) so they are more rugged than straight cotton, and they are not as subject to wrinkles. They might be preferable to regular wrinkle-resistant Khakis because they are not as baggy and more informal. So they might make for good travel pants. The only reason I docked them a star is because they are rather warm for summer outdoor activities. I see them rather as a good outdoor or travel pants for fall, winter, spring.
