I wanted to love this pack, but the best I can say about it is that it looks good, the meshy back is fantastic, and it does in fact carry stuff. Otherwise, wow did I expect better.
There are not enough internal/external pockets to organize the things you need for a day-hike. You can't reach the side water bottle pockets without taking the pack off, so what is the point of having them be external. If you don't use a hydration system, good luck finding a spot to put your water bottles other than those side pockets.
The hip belt pockets are offensively useless: they are so small that you miiight be able to stuff in an old, tiny iPhone, but forget about any smart phone made in the last couple years. Not even close. So, you now have to carry a separate digital camera as well, but good luck getting to it in time to catch your dog doing that cool thing or your hiking buddy on the trail at the just-so spot because you will be wrestling with the stupid zippers on these pockets long after that moment has passed. Or you'll find you just have to leave those zippers open, which is unsecure and looks sloppy in photos.
And finally, this may be a personal fluke, but this pack gives me a headache after every hike -- despite messing with the adjustments in every way I can see, it is putting strain on my neck/shoulders that was not an issue with my old pack.
I had much higher expectations for this pack and Deuter in general, but less than a year later am having to look for an alternative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by practicalclothes Great, hard-working pack.
Bought this for the Coast-to-Coast hike in England. Trekked 192 miles in constant varying weather conditions including frequent rain. The rain cover, which tucks away in it's own compartment, kept all my belongings dry, and it is tethered to the pack preventing it from flying off in high wind conditions. But it can be untethered as well to remove for drying purposes. The pack was comfortable, very versatile with numerous zippered sections for food, small equipment, and a large main compartment with a separate interior sleeve for my e-reader - very convenient during air travel. The 2 exterior water bottle sleeves worked well and accommodated fairly large water bottles, but also have adjustable straps to keep smaller bottles from falling out. I was able to easily attach my walking poles to the exterior of the pack. Overall, the pack worked great for our long walk across the country.

Overall a good pack. Enough room for everything. My only complaint or observation was there are not enough tie down spots on the pack to strap on extra gear. The pack road my back comfortably with the weight distributed evenly. I?d buy another one?
