Great bag with plenty of room and compartments. Only wish it had a bit more reinforcements built in. It sort of sags too much in carrying. But still a winner.

This is a perfect bag, like one of the reviews before states it's not a good briefcase. I bought it for grad school and it's functioned everyday well. I carry a laptop, Kindle, power cord, a couple books, pens and such and an Apple Macbook Air every day. Works great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hewbacca Good light-use laptop bag
I bought this as a laptop bag to move my 13" Macbook Pro around for school and travel. I like LL Bean and particularly the unusual canvas and flannel of this one.
I am very happy with the bag. It has good padding for the laptop (although I still use a separate sleeve as well), and a few pockets. Many of the accessory pockets are not zippered, and there are not a lot of them, which is why I say this should be a "light-use" bag. For example, I would not want to use this as a carry-on at an airline, for fear that being put in an overhead compartment or under the seat in front of me would cause things to fall out of their pockets, and maybe fall out of the bag entirely.
For my purposes it is great though. It is much softer and more comfortable to carry than the Tumi it replaced. Also, the small LL Bean patch on the front, which appears hideous in the pictures, is a completely different brown leather patch on mine which looks quite nice.
I got mine monogrammed in "Olive;" this perfectly matches the color of the straps on the Saddle bag. I recommend that over the default color choice if you select monogramming and get the Saddle-colored bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ziek Great bag! Only one minor issue.
Got this bag for grad school to carry around a laptop and other materials. Great quality and love the interior. I'm a tall guy(6' 3") and the straps are a good length. The only bummer is that the bag did not come with that sweet, old school LL Bean patch on it. Instead just the lettering of LL Bean was stitched in. I really like that aspect of the bag, as it looks less fashiony with the patch on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RestonRetiree Well-made but expensive
This bag is made of durable materials and it has many handy pockets and sections. I think it is very handsome. However, $100 is as bit much to spend on this item. I know I spent that but you may find a satisfactory bag for less money.

Tough. Sturdy. Bought as a gift for HS grad on his way to college. Its sturdy canvas and reinforced stitching reflects a solid construction and I hope it withstands the next 4 years!! Item arrived promptly. Gift wrap reflects L.L. Bean's no-nonsense marketing. Brown L.L. Bean box secured by green tartan elastic band. Simple. Understated. Masculine.

Rated 4 out of 5 Does the job
I wanted a relatively lightweight bag that could hold my 15" laptop, a file and my calculator. I have only used this bag once and I am happy to say it did the job. If I could tweak the design, I would suggest 1) it had a zipper inside pocket to hold a flash drive, etc. and 2) the handle isn't centered properly to carry the weight of the lap top if you do not want to use the straps. Otherwise, the bag feels rugged and I have no regrets with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GTPintheNJ Nice school bag
My son asked for a school bag to carry over the shoulder, not a backpack, for college. I knew what he meant and knew just where to look for one. Arrived quickly and looks sturdy. Just wish it were a little larger to accommodate more school books.
