Rated 3 out of 5 by Texann2 Wrong Size?
I really liked this color and material of this shirt and I got it just in time for a trip that I'm taking next week. Unfortunately, the sizing was way off. I ordered my normal size (L), which should have been fine for a slightly fitted shirt, but I needed at least three more inches of fabric to be able to button the shirt. None of the other reviews mention the shirt fitting small, and the photos make it look somewhat loose fitting so I wonder if it was just labelled wrong. It doesn't really matter now because the red color is no longer in stock so I can't exchange it. I can't recommend this for others unless you can try it on in the store to make sure the sizing is right.

I bought this and the solid blue for a trip to Costa Rica this month(August) I had to buy regular large because they do not come in petite. Comfortable fit. Sun screen worked as well as my llbean sun screen shirts. It was very hot and very humid in the rain forests and there was no detectable cooling effect. I will see how they wash in machine before I decide to keep them. They washed well by hand with ordinary soap and did dry faster than most of the items I hand washed. I will probably return the red plaid that my husband used for the same reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TravlinGirl3 Perfect for the Amazon
I wore this shirt on a riverboat cruise on the Amazon River in Peru last month (July). The blue plaid was an attractive color without being too 'loud.' The fabric was wonderful. Because it was puckered, it did not rest on my skin which allowed perspiration to be wicked away quickly. The fabric kept its shape and did not wilt or look sloppy. We were in the skiffs on the open water 3-5 hours a day so we were in the intense humidity quite a lot. We also walked under the canopy in the rainforest which subjected us to very concentrated humidity. The shirt was a success in each situation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by TravlinGirl3 Limp on the Amazon
I wore this shirt on a riverboat cruise on the Amazon River in Peru last month (July). While I loved the blue color, the fabric was not successful. It didn't 'breathe' very well. Because the dampness from the excessive humidity was not wicked away, the shirt was limp and clung to my skin. I looked sloppy whenever I wore it and was uncomfortable. It did, however, drip dry overnight as promised.
There is a plaid version of this shirt whose fabric is puckered like seersucker. That shirt was VERY successful.

I really like the color of blue/gray/brown. It is so light and breezy, not see through. It comes out of the dryer wrinkly because of the seersucker fabric.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OnlineTchr Poor selection
Please note that this is not a dress shirt. If wrinkles bother you, you won't like it. Even if I iron this shirt, it will show mild wrinkles all the time. However, I love it. Size and shape is perfect. That's why I'm disappointed in the really poor selection Beans is offering to women. I would be ordering more and would wear these every day when I garden and in my volunteer work, but the colors are so boring and you run out of Large quickly. I wish Beans did not eliminate products so quickly. It is late spring now; I wish you had a lot of these shirts in good solid colors (you just have blue and black now) and sizes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AmandaFlorida Great shirt for warm temps
Very comfortable. Long sleeves fit well. I am 6' tall ~145 pounds - the medium fits great. I work outdoors in Florida and these are my new favorite shirts!

Rated 5 out of 5 by jessicamac09 Functional and cute
I have tested this shirt in a hot, humid, Central American rainforest, and it performs well. I'm normally a small petite (or XS in some LL Bean items, which I think is due to "vanity sizing"), and the small fits well -- loose like a breathable, quick-dry shirt ought to be. I have not noticed the tightness in the shoulders others mentioned, but maybe other people are choosing their sizes for figure-flattery rather than comfort. The lapis color (purple and light blue plaid) is very pretty.

I like the built-in cooling feature of the jade powder. The Peak Blue is a lovely color. Just back from a sailing trip and the lightweight nylon fabric did wick moisture well. Found the roll-tab sleeves cumbersome; prefer a simple tab and button without needing to thread through a loop. Loved the extended roll collar which shielded the sun and wind. Would be hesitant to recommend or buy another because it is not wash and wear for travel... it is NOT a wrinkle-free (or even wrinkle-resistant) material and it looks unkempt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BeansRegular Great new Outdoor Shirt
After reading the reviews, I purchased up one size from my usual XS (which can still fit somewhat generously on me) to an S. The S is too large all over, except for the shoulders, but I have large shoulders from years of weight-trainng and rock climbing. I will keep that one because it is in the coral color that has since sold out, but I have ordered the other 2 colors in size XS. I do not forsee any problems with tightness across the back as this one had quite a bit of material in the back.
As for the technical features, I did find the shirt to feel soft and very much like a well-washed and well-worn seersucker shirt. The style is very outdoor-casual anyway, so the crinkly textured, but very soft, material does not look inappropriate. I would not wear this shirt under a crewneck sweater, as the look would not work well. The polyester nylon fabric did breathe well for me--tested in the recent 90+ weather we have had in PA, and also feels soft to the touch (and there are many fabrics that annoy my skin enough that I cannot wear them). It did stay just away from my skin, and never felt sticky or heavy. I rarely can wear a long sleeve shirt (even with vents) on hot days, but I can wear this one with comfort and without completely wilting, so there must be something to this jade fabric and its cooling factor.
The other great features like the fold up sun collar, the large back vent and the hidden right seam back pocket (below pack straps) all add more to the versatility and practicality of this shirt. I love the quick access to the generous right seam pocket for things that I always carry like keys, chap stick, and tissues.
I do prefer snaps to buttons on outdoor shirts, as they are easier to do up when hands get a bit grimy, but these buttons do work well. The princess seams in front give the shirt a more feminine look, especially since 2 of the colors are the same as in the men's version of this shirt.
All in all, I do feel like the features and fabric of this shirt make it very useful for an outdoor person like myself. I did notice that there was no added SPF, but I can wash that in with the simple products they have available in some stores. I would like to see that added to future models of the shirt. I would also like to possibly have two side seam back pockets (one on each side), as I never seem to have enough pockets. A small zipper chest pocket in addition would be useful, since tucking in this shirt removes access to the bottom pocket. A slightly more generous shoulder width, without making the whole body of the shirt wider, would also be very helpful as noted by several of the other reviewers. I would also like to see other plaids in more earthy outdoor colors, not the same as the tropicwear pastels though.
I am overall very happy with this shirt, but would find the above mentioned tweaks worthy of that last star. I still went ahead and purchased the other 2 colors, so none of these issues are real deal breakers.
