Rated 5 out of 5 by mtbjane Updated version of a classic!
I purchased two sweatshirts, both in xs regular. One is in charcoal heather and the other in light gray heather. For sizing reference, I am 5'1", 130 lbs and 32D. The xs regular is a relaxed fit for me and a tad bit roomy. I prefer my sweatshirts to fit on the longer side to accommodate any shrinkage. There is some shrinkage to this sweatshirt but not a lot.
This is a lovely update to a classic wardrobe piece. The fabric is very stretchy, soft and medium to light weighted. Feels great against your skin! It is not the type of heavier fleece fabric typically used in traditional gym wear. This fabric will drape a bit, but the relaxed fit keeps it from being clingy.
The charcoal heather is a lovely color. Feels exceptionally soft. I have washed and dried these sweatshirts and they still look great. My only wish is that the neckline is cut just a bit bigger/lower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by qscftyjpo Very nice item
I was so puzzled at the 1-, 2- and 3-star reviews, so I read through them to see what people didn't like.
This is not a typical sweatshirt. It seems people were expecting a regular sweatshirt with that fleecy stuff on the inside. It doesn't have that, but it is a heavier knit than a t-shirt. Some said the sleeves were too short, but they are perfect on me. However, I often have a problem with sleeves being too long, so maybe the sleeves are a little short, not sure.
I always order a small, and this fits me perfectly. The band around the hips is not snug, just hangs down nicely over the hips. The fit is relaxed but not sloppy; it's the way a sweatshirt should be. OK alone or can accommodate a lighter garment underneath. It's about 15" across the back, shoulder seam to shoulder seam. The fabric is soft, has a nice feel.
For people in warmer climates this works well because often a heavy garment isn't needed. Colder climates might be a good inside garment with something under.
Not sure what color I got--pinkish. Very pretty.

I am so glad that I purchased this top! The material is very soft and I love the relaxed fit. I know that this will be a favorite for a long time so have already ordered another in navy blue. I hope L.L.Bean sells this shirt for many years to come, and does not compromise on the quality because it is perfect and I will never look further for a comfortable, long sleeved casual top for the cold weather months. You get what you pay for and this shirt is worth every penny! I highly recommend!

Just received this and have worn it twice already! I love the material (soft) and love that it retains its shape. I ordered a 2x and had to return it for a 1x which fits perfectly. Covers nicely, below the hip. I'm always cold and find that I am very comfortable in this top. If it came in other colors, I would buy another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mcig Wish it came in Misses Regular
I ordered this top and when it came I realized it was a petite- I am sad because I ordered a Large because several reviewers suggested that the sleeves run a bit short. It is just too big and then I realized it is a Petite. I hate to return and not get it in a smaller size. I love the fabric- its like one of those shirts you have broken in forever and love to snuggle into when you need a friend or a cup of cocoa.
So my message to Bean is - get it in Misses sizes! Please?

Not what I thought it was going to be. I thought it would be a warm sweat shirt- but that is not what this is. It is basically a thicker t-shirt type material. The shirt was shorter than I thought it would be. I prefer sweat shirts that are longer than my waist. The material collects lint- which I do not like. I have attached a photo. I do not have pets and do not wash towels or sheets with my clothes. Lint does not collect on my other clothes- only this shirt. I have worn it a few times and it is comfortable but not warm by any means. I won't send it back- but I know I will not be buying another like this. I have noticed some fading. Not my favorite purchase.

I love this shirt and am ordering another one today in a different color before they sell out. It is a nice cross between a sweat shirt (with some stretchiness to it) and a regular shirt, for winter months, and fits beautifully on me being a petite though I ordered a misses size in XS (normally would wear a petite small), so I can understand the remarks about the too short sleeves...

This sweatshirt is totally appropriate to wear out and about. But I love it most at home, when I want something soft and warm and want to relax. It's warmest with a turtleneck underneath since it hangs away from the body. The touch of spandex gives it a unique texture, making it the softest sweatshirt I've ever seen. It's my first choice when I'm looking for a sweatshirt to wear. The only drawback is that the sleeves are a bit too short. I usually wear a medium but bought a large to accommodate layers underneath. Even so, the sleeves are just above my wrists. Still love it, though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ladybug Comfortable!!!
Had to return the first one I purchased because I forgot to order the petite size. I've worn this quite a few times already & it's definitely a favorite. It's not as heavy as sweatshirt fabric, but has the sweatshirt design. Haven't had a shirt this soft & comfortable in a long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KathrynEL Not what I was looking for
This sweatshirt, as mentioned by many other reviewers, is far thinner than what I was looking for (I didn't read the reviews before purchasing, silly me!). Additionally, the sizing is very small. The description describes the shirt as a "relaxed" fit--a more generous cut, but I find this to be a more slim fitting sweatshirt. I would recommend sizing up, if possible. Didn't LL Bean used to offer XXL for women's clothing? If available, I would have exchanged for that size. I have a newborn at home and was looking for some nice, loose-fitting lounge wear. I'd say I'm a true 16-18 in clothing, and the XL is supposed to fit sizes 18-20. I'm keeping it because it is comfortable enough, but beware with sizing.
