Rated 5 out of 5 by Platty Classic Anorak
I had 2 of these from the early 90s until one recently mysteriously disappeared. I was thrilled when they came back last season, ordered 1 then, and am going to buy another.
They're great windbreakers for bicycling, snowshoeing, or x-country skiing and fold flat for stowing in a backpack or other carrier.
My only complaint is that they are now longer made in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AspiringAdventurer Super comfortable, versatile
I just received this jacket recently, after trying on my mom's, (she actually has the newer version) and I love it already. It works well as a windbreaker, and it is definitely water resistant. It is so comfortable, I can wear it all the time, and it's so easy to throw on as an extra layer. There is a elastic around the waist, the hip/hem, and the hood, for cinching. The pockets are super handy too. I am usually a medium in shirts, so I ordered a medium in this jacket and it's the perfect amount of roominess. I will be able to layer it with other shirts or sweatshirts when I want to. The French Blue color is great, and just a tad bit more on the purple side than it appears, which is perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by hillwalker2014 A classic revived but sizes are way larger
I loved this anorak so much I've saved one for years planning to take it apart and use it as a pattern to make a new one because the old one's fabric had rotted. I'm very glad to have a wind jacket that fits easily over layers, packs small, and has such useful pockets. It seems as well made as the old version, too. I can't find fitted garments that layer well, and usually the "fitted" part is way off my body shape anyway. However, it is considerably oversized from what the dimensions were 20 years ago- 4" greater circumference in the chest although the arms are the same length (even a bit shorter). I bought the new one, and will keep it even though it really is enormous on me, but I guess I'm going to hang on to the old one a bit longer because it looks like I either learn to make my own clothes or be forced to wear things that are way too large. LL Bean, you need to make smaller sizes for adult women!!

Ordered this thinking it would be the same as one I got years ago at LL Bean... It was like wearing a box, no shape....poor materials. First time I have ever been disappointed in an LL Bean product.

Rated 5 out of 5 A New Old-Favorite!
My new Elderberry Mountain Classic Anorak just arrived, love it!
I have worn my original purple L.L.Bean anorak since I bought it in Maine in 1990!!! It's the perfect jacket and has been around the world so many times! I've worn my old one skiing, beaching, hiking, and at so many sport events that I've lost count! It's still in great condition, just a little faded under the hood and perhaps not as water-resistant as it once was, but it's still a favorite. I wasn't sure on the sizing because the size tag in mine is long gone.
Ordered the XL, it's big and roomy, can pop over a sweatshirt/hoodie (I'm 5'6" & a busty size 14). Long enough to cover tush if you're wearing leggings. I'm sure I'll be enjoying THIS one for years to come!--oh, wish you offered it in black also!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LondonDupree Yay for classics!
I still have my brother's jacket from the early '90s and I love it. I've always wondered if these would ever come back. The similar ones that fold away are always so crinkly and sound like I'm wearing a paper bag. Imagine my excitement when, before Christmas, seeing the old school back packs coming back (please please please bring back the gray!) I had to check and I was so glad to see these. I got one for me and one for my husband who also missed them. They're perfect, nice soft material, low enough to cover my butt, roomy enough to wear over a sweater, and just how I remembered them. I LOVE the elderberry. Thanks so much for bringing back the classics!

Rated 5 out of 5 by activeoutdoorsylady great light top layer
This anorak is a perfect outer layer for hiking and outdoor activities. The fit is right on, is comfortable, quiet and sheds a light rain. Another great LL Bean product.

This is the perfect addition to wear in rainy weather when it is too warm for coat. It runs large allowing to wear over layered clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Briannamom Good fit and great look
I bought this for walking the dogs on rainy spring and fall days.
Love the style, and it's roomy enough to layer a turtleneck and a hoodie underneath.
Thanks LL Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by hospitalnurse Eternal jacket
This jacket lasts forever. I believe I have one of the original
lined jackets from 1984. I still wear it because I love it. I just wish
LL Bean would bring back the thinsulate lined version of this
jacket, so I could get a different color. Then I would be a happy woman.
