These 1912 Khakis are too wide at the bottom of the legs and they are too long in the crotch. It's unfortunate that llbean discontinued the 1912 chino pants as they fit me perfectly! I should have ordered more!!! These guys are so wide at the bottom, they're close to being bell bottoms.

I was looking for some basic khakis for work for the summer. I noticed these were on sale, so decided to try them out. They are rather unique. The carbon/navy is an attractive color. A couple of points: These are definitely not crisp. Although they do not wrinkle badly, they have a more casual look. The rise is very high and there is really very little pant between the crotch and the waist. For that reason I sent the first pair back and got the next larger waist size, which pretty much solved the problem. However, I have to wonder what age group these are designed for with such a generally tight cut. Also, they are on the thick side. This actually adds to the more casual look as there is no crease and quite a bit of stitching. Ultimately, I decided that, with the correct size, these are a nice change of pace from the standard khaki colored khakis. I would definitely recommend ordering a bit larger in the waist, which greatly increases comfort, especially if you are between sizes.

I bought a pair of these pants a while ago and was quite satisfied with them. However, with my recent purchase, I have found the material to be stiffer and the fit much more baggy through the legs. This resulted in a noticeable "flappy" noise made with every stride. I'm also not wild about the stitching. I had no choice but to return them.

I think these pants are excellent for year-round wear in New England. I bought three pair in my regular size (36 x 30), and they are just right. The thicker weight fabric comes out of the wash ready to wear, and they look good all day. The construction is excellent -- just what I have come to expect from LL Bean over the past 30 years. They should last a lifetime -- but I'm ordering another pair just in case!

As other reviewers have said, these pants have become baggy and very loose fitting through the seat and legs. You cannot walk around without tugging on the low slung fabric that now drapes like a billowing blouse. The front pockets are not as deep as they should be so coins and key drop out of your pockets when you sit down.
Its a shame. LL Bean knows how to make a quality product and knows that I will pay loyally for a good value.
The material is good and heavy and should wear for a long time. The construction of the seams is solid.
I'm not one to wear "skinny pants" however these pants really miss the mark. The saggy, puffy, surplus of fabric around the upper thigh area is embarrassing. I expected more.
Note: I have not tried the corduroy and some have commented that they have a different cut.

I liked the fabric and weight of the pants but I could fit both of my legs in one pant leg. Way too big.

I mistakenly purchased these pants thinking they were the "Men's Bean's 1912 Pants, Twill" - which I already own and like.
I'm not that picky and would have been happy with these; however, despite buying the same size, these pants don't fit anywhere near as well as the "Men's Bean's 1912 Pants, Twill."
In comparison, these pants were long and baggy. On the upside, the materials and construction seemed good, but definitely not enough to make up for the sub-par fit.
I'm returning these. Unfortunately, most sizes and colors of the "Men's Bean's 1912 Pants, Twill" seem to be sold out...so I fear my beloved model of pants is being discontinued :-(.
Uber bad move L. L. Bean - so disappointed.

I ordered a size 35 waist and 29 inseam. The pants were labled as such. The inseam was fine, however the waist measured 37 inches. The pants were also very wide at the hips and legs. I had used the color filter to isolate on the color black and so order the color coal, it being the option presented. The color of the pants received is actually dark gray and is already showing signs of fadding along the seams, at the bottom of the legs and at the hem line, without having been worn. I do like the weight and the feel of the cloth. The pants are going back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jackbean Nice pants, but two watch outs
These pants are very nice overall -- good material, waist and length are spot on for me. That said, I am returning because the rise is to short for comfort. The other item to take note of is the front pocket size -- very small. This on it's own would not prevent me from keeping, but is a bit odd. I really wanted to like these, but wasn't meant to be.

I love the 1912 Corduroys so it seemed like a no-brainer to get these for warmer temps. The material is a little heavy so they are good for early fall/spring. The fit is a little bulky and the pants feel baggy, not at all like the corduroys.
All of that aside, they wear great. I like the hidden front pocket even though I rarely use it. It's great for storing a phone or something you don't want slipping out of your pocket or banging around with other things. It may even stay hidden during a police search, though I have no reason for this feature.
Overall, the pluses and minuses balance out to make them good pants if you are expecting what you get.
