My fiancee wanted something of manageable size (her lower back gives her trouble) that can be squished small into a suitcase when not needed. This is comfortable, the right size and meets the squishability standard!

I bought this backpack to use when hiking, kayaking, boating and traveling. I love the deep side pockets to hold water bottles, sunscreen, etc. My camera and some gear fit perfectly. The pack is sleek and has a strap that buckles around your waist. When boating, I hang it over the seat and buckle it around the front. Water beads right off it, keeping everything inside protected.
Very satisfied with this backpack. It's holding up well- I've had it almost 2 years and it still looks brand new.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Winnigins Stowaway Day Pack
I bought this day pack for my upcoming trip to Ireland with my sister. Even though we will be traveling lightly, I wanted to have a lightweight pack for day touring. This bag was just what I was looking for. It feels pretty sturdy without being rigid. I will be able to roll it up and stow away in my backpack until I need it. It feels comfortable on my 5'5" frame and I like that the straps are lightly padded. The side pockets are deep enough to hold a water bottle without it being wobbly and I like that I can carry my umbrella on the other side for easy access. The inside of the bag is roomy but I would loved to have had at least one zippered pocket to hold my wallet/passport. One tiny disappointment was that LL Bean was not able to monogram my initials onto the bag which I have on my LL Bean ruck sack (which I love by the way). I like that there can never be any question of who the bag belongs to then. I will probably sew the monogram on myself. This bag will also work great when the weather is warm enough to get back on my bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Teadrinkingmama Perfect for a day hike
Bought this for hubby, who requested light weight backpack to carry bare essentials for a day hike. Bonus feature includes straps that extend, so bag comfortably fits his 6'6" frame. Nice side pockets fit water bottle. Small pack fits extra pair of socks, lunch, map, light weight jacket/ hat. Bright color makes him easy to spot when walking with a group. Excellent quality as LL Bean is known to provide.

Excellent back pack. My wife uses it daily to carry her work to and from home. Very well made and very functional. The normal high quality we have come to expect from llbean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AKah good but not what I need...
This day pack would make an excellent addition for vacation travel. It is a very durable and handy item for your everyday needs and as a shopping tote.
I will be returning it, because I would like a few more interior pockets and some rigidity for an everyday back pack. I like the size, it just needs more stability and organization.

This is a little gem. Light weight. Good pockets for stowing variably sized items. Easy access to the pockets. Built in key holder. Perfect for running errands especially if you are on foot. Comfortable to the shoulders. This was a replacement for a long cherished and overused Columbia pack...it equals and surpasses that pack. Way to go L.L. Bean.
