Bought a 12 EE but it was uncomfortable; need a EEE. I hhought the lacing configuration would allow the EE to fit but it didnt. Shoe is well made and attractive.

The shoes fit great out of the box. However, after using for several days I realized they aren't water proof and if you use them for boating activities you will need to water proof them or may be you enjoy wet feet. The grip on wet decks is good and they leave no marks.

With the soft lining, these are the most comfortable boat shoes
I have ever worn.. They are well made, great fit and feel like
you are wearing slippers.. I know with decent care, these will
last me 6-10 years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MarkAnthonyII Nice shoe but not for me
Very nice shoe but they weren't quite comfortable. I have 'mortin's neuroma' and have to be careful with my shoes. I returned them with no problem. LL Bean is ALWAYS easy to work with.

The test for any casual shoe is can I wear it immediately, without socks? If I have to wear shoes around the house for weeks with socks to break them in, that's not good.
Fortunately these Lakeside boat shoes hit the mark. They were comfortable right from the first wearing, and are quickly becoming my go-to shoes. The shoes are well made -- very nice leather uppers, a well-padded inner sole, and they contour around my foot well. The price is competitive, actually a bit less than competitors' shoes, a bargain for shoes of this quality. And they look great. Some shoes look good in smaller sizes, but not at bigger sizes. These look really nice even in 11 1/2.
For me they ran a bit small. I opted to send my original pair back and get a half-size larger, and of course LLBean's AMAZING customer service made that exchange as easy as could be.
I chose the darker brown color, and already I'm thinking about getting the medium brown also. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by BigHummers Poor Design for relacing
The comfort of the shoe is fine. The shoe laces used are very poor. Bought a pair about 2 months prior to traveling traveling in Europe. After about 2 weeks of wear, the lace broke in one shoe. I tried to install new leather laces to no avail. Called LLBean and they shipped a new pair and I returned the first pair. The first time I attempted to wear them, one of the laces broke again. Took them to local shoe repair because they said they could install new laces.
I learned from the shoe repair that the new laces used are dry leather which are typically more prone to breaking. The shoe repair said oiled laces should be used because they are much more durable. The shoe repair said the only way to re-lace the shoes was to remove all stitching in order to access the area where the laces pass around the top of the shoe. They mentioned, for an LLBean shoe, it was a poor design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WCR3 Aaahhhh. Comfortable boat shoes.
Nicely cushioned for comfort. I have wide feet. The wide size works nicely for me. I especially like the full length inner liner that makes the shoes very comfortable with or without socks. I'd better buy another pair before they change things or stop offering them altogether.
