Rated 1 out of 5 by svnisus Wanted to Love Them
Read all the reviews and while I really wanted the same boot without the shearing, from everyone's comments plus what LL Bean said, I knew they would be too big. So, I went with the shearing style instead. Unfortunately they are too large also, especially in the heel.
I wanted a pair of boots I could just slip on and run out the door without having to think about what socks I'm wearing or if I'm even wearing socks.
Overall way too large without socks. They fit a bit better with LL Bean cotton socks and almost perfect with LL Bean wool socks, but even with the wool socks my heel still slips. I am a regular size 6 medium width and am surprised as to how large the heel is. I thought about keeping them but am afraid I'll end up with blisters.
I really want a pair of LL Bean boots but this is the second style I've had to return because they are too big. Can you please try making a size 5?

Rated 3 out of 5 by MichiganMom1996 Beautiful but won't stay on
I followed the recommendations from the site and even though I usually wear a size 9.5, I ordered a size 8. The length was surprisingly good and the boot is beautiful. The leather is soft and gorgeous. I wish I could give it 5 stars. The problem is that I could not keep it on my feet. The strap is decorative and I'm not sure if the boot is too wide (I do have narrow feet) in the heel or if the opening my foot goes through is too big. Either way, my foot moves around inside it when I walk. I was thinking of just trying to make it work but I unfortunately decided that might give me blisters so I had to send them back.

by BirdDogAnne So glad this vintage style is back!
As a seller and buyer of quality vintage clothing, I have scoured ebay and Etsy for years looking for this particular style (which was discontinued years ago) in my size. My search has ended.
These arrived exactly on the estimated date, and are beautiful. The uppers are soft and need no breaking in, They do fit a little differently than my original lace ups as they're a little wider in the heel which I expected for a slip-on. As for size, I wear a 7-1/2 B and the 7 fits like a dream with athletic socks.
I was cursing the ground hog for extending our winter in the south but have been happy I have a new pair of boots to sport. I have received numerous compliments and am thrilled with my purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by sard Was So Excited to Receive These Boots...
however, they were a huge disappointment. I ordered the 7 Regular Width (exact same size I have ordered Bean lace-up Boots in the past). The length was fine, but they were so loose in the heel they would not stay on. It was kind of like walking in flip flops. Please note, I do not have narrow feet. I even order wides in some shoes/boots. I doubt the narrow size would work either because the boots were fine across the toes. Bummer! They are really cute, and the leather is so soft, but I had to return them.

I really like these boots, but don't quite love them. I've never been able to wear Bean boots because the stiff leather of the upper hurts and cuts into my ankles etc...
This leather is wonderful! Soft soft soft with no break in needed. LOVE that!
I ordered an 8W for my normally 9.5 somewhat wide foot. I prefer a wide in shoes, but more typically buy a normal width.
Anyway, I have a hard time getting these boots on and off. Is it my high arches? I don't know--but it's a bit of a struggle every time. Once on, they're pretty comfortable. Wish the wide was more of a true wide than the slightly wider than normal Bean boot (I find Bean boots narrow). I bought a pair for my sister who has normal feet, never takes a wide shoe. She wanted the wide after trying mine, and the wide fit her perfectly. Can't imagine the normal width?
I really really wish Bean made a lace up in the tumbled leather, un-lined, and without the tongue being sewn in....

I am a true 8.5 and I got these as a gift in an 8
I finally got these just before Alabama got hit with the crazy Winter Storms! I was so excited, but seriously considered sending them back because of the size. They are VERY large, but I just wear them with 2 pairs of socks (one "running" pair and the L.L. Bean Merino Wool Ragg socks on top). I will be honest, they still slip a bit in the heal, but nothing I can't deal with. I do believe that these are better for warmer (winters in the 30-40s) climates. There is no lining, but with the multiple/thick socks, my feet stay warm and comfortable. One of my favorite things about these boots was that there was no need for a break-in period! I have slightly wide feet, so sometime I have issues with my pinky toe, but that was never the case with these.
I took away one star for the sizing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SNHReviewer Cute booties but loose in heels
These booties looked so cute and perfect online I just had to order them. I wear standard size 7.5, so I ordered 7 in early January. They were as cute in person as online but 7 was way too large in length/width/heels for me. I walked in them like wearing flip-flops. Returned them and reordered next size down, size 6, which was back-ordered. After waiting for almost a month, I finally got size 6. They still were so cute, and length/width were just fine, however heels were still too loose even in two pairs of socks. Sadly I simply can not keep shoes that don't keep my heels in place so I have to return this pair as well.
LLBean really needs to study women's feet better. Also, stop assuming every woman needs an inch thick socks! Please give us true-to-size shoes and we will worry about the rest ourselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Scatney Dry feet at last!
I have been searching for shoes that would keep my feet dry on muddy rainy days. I remember the L.L. Bean duck shoes I had as a kid but didn't want the same style. When I saw these, I loved the slip on style and the buckle made it cute boot. I wear a 9.5 -10 and went to the store to try them on. The 9 flopped around too much and the 8 regular was too tight across the top of my foot. I ended up ordering an 8W. They arrived today which happened to be a rainy day so I put them right on with my thickest pair of socks to see how they fit. They are a bit hard to slip on with thick socks but otherwise fit very well! I went out to run errands and came home with dry happy feet. They weren't super warm so I pulled the sheep skin liner out of another brand of boots and tried them in these. It made a huge difference in the warmth. I will order a pair of Bean liners when they are back in stock and should have a 4 season boot!

Rated 3 out of 5 by sperryville zero insulation
I bought these because they were made in the US, and I needed something w/ good footing. I planned to wear them w/ heavy, double socks and they were still too large and so I had to go down a full size even w/ double/triple socks. I was OK w/ the price and even having to pay the shipping to exchange them, but I wore them w/ two pair of hunter/camping socks and in 25 - 35 F weather and my feet just about froze. These have no insulation at all and actually seem to be pretty conductive. There is no liner available for them. These are pretty impractical unless you are on wet ground in a warm climate and I feel that they are a pretty poor value unless you are just buying them for their appearance.

I've wanted a pair of these for many years, and am so glad Bean's has brought them back.
The tumbled leather is gorgeously soft and lovely--it feels like deerskin, and there is *no* break-in period. I haven't used Sno-Seal on it yet, as I don't want to interfere with the softness of the leather. I might opt for a lighter spray-on product instead.
Sizing was a problem. I've worn Bean Boots for 30 <eek!> years. I wear a W's 11 street shoe, but tend towards heavy socks and I swap out the insoles for insulated or shearling ones, which tend to take up a little more space, and so have always happily worn lace-ups in a Bean Boot W's 11. I ordered the same in these and was walking out of them just in my living room, so it wasn't going to work in snow or Vermont's mud season. I sent them back for a W's 10, and while those were great length-wise, they were too snug across the ball of my foot with a midweight SmartWool sock and a SuperFeet merino insole. I sent those back for a W's 10 WIDE even though I've never worn a wide shoe in anything, and that was the perfect mix.
I did have to punch extra holes in the strap (and would have for any of the sizes) because the design as shipped is kind of goofy--the strap doesn't have enough holes on it to tighten beyond the tightness of the leather on the shaft.
The 7" height is good for slushy days and running errands and popping out to the barn or to walk the dogs. They wouldn't be good for deep snow because snow will get in. They aren't as roomy in the shaft as I remember the old school ones being--or maybe my ankles are a lot larger :-0 --and since they're fairly low I wouldn't try to tuck pants into them.
My only complaint is that the tumbled leather is so soft that you can't step into these without using your hands. The old ones were the typical stiff leather and held their shape so they were easy to kick on and off.
I hope LL Bean keeps these as a regular offering.
