This is my second winter season wearing these boots and I absolutely love them. I bought a shearling insert for them and this makes for perfection! I sometimes wear thick socks and sometimes wear them without socks. They are great for slipping on quickly and people often tell me my boots are adorable. They're a great look with skinny jeans and leggings. LL Bean boots are wonderful and made in the USA! So happy about that!!

These are comfortable warm boots that are easy to slip on and off. I ended up returning them because I have several pairs of slip-on ugg-style boots and these are similar in that they do not secure the foot into the boot bed and therefore slide on my heel like a clog or the LLB moccasin does. I would not recommend these boots for any kind of vigorous activity or hikes but as a slip on and go around town or to walk around the neighborhood, they are great. I would have kept them but I figured closet real estate would be better utilized with something I will wear more often. They are nice boots otherwise.

These boots are perfect in all respects.
Warm enough that I don't have to wear socks on the coldest day, &
My feet stay dry
I love winters again!!!
There's only one problem - they're no longer available - what a shame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by skLAVB Here's a guide for the size-perplexed:
After years of wanting a pair of LL Bean boots, I finally ordered mine so I could be ready to play with my dogs in the mud and snow this winter. I have read so many woeful reviews about the sizing...and this is not one of them. I hope this review will help folks who aren't sure about what size to order: In the interest of keeping my feet warm as well as dry, I plan to wear thick wool Wigwam socks with my boots, so I ordered my normal shoe size. Right out of the box, the arch of my foot found the arch of the footbed, and it was love. I've worn my boots for 2 full days already, and they have been nothing but delicious. These boots fit like none I currently own -- they are truly unique -- so before you send yours back, keep in mind that there should be a thumb's width between the end of the shoe and the top of your toes; this is for airflow (per a card that came with my boots). Your heel is going to slide, and that's ok and normal. You can tighten the strap on the top of the boots, and that will help lock your foot in a little. These are special boots; figure out your socks and order accordingly. If you don't like looseness, order a lace-up pair. Give 'em a chance! They are wonderful, beautifully-made boots, and they're a rarity: how many shoes are still handmade in the US nowadays?

I bought these boots last winter but for some (unknown) reason I never wore them until just recently. I *love* these boots. The slip on quality is fantastic for putting them on quickly when the dogs decide they need a walk ASAP. I live in Boston so these boots have been great for the wet, sloppy conditions outside. Plus, I have noticed they have much better traction than most winter boots I have owned in the past for walking on the slippery bricks. I am SO glad I bought these boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ambahhhhh just perfect
It took me 3 weeks to decide which bean boot I wanted. After reading all the reviews I am soooo happy I decided to order the lounger! My shoes size is anywhere from an 8 to 9. I usually have to order a 9 in boots because of my high arch....so I called the customer service line and asked to talk to a product specialist (highly recommend this) after he got all my concerns, he recommended I order a 8 wide..which would fit the size down they recommend and my high arch! I ordered thesee on a Friday and they were at my house on Wednesday!! They look great and the leather is so soft! The shoe length is perfect and I was able to get my foot in with a heavy sock! The shoe is wide as other reviews state, but I do t mind it cause I am able to wear a thin sock to a heavy sock with no issues...I live in the south so the warmth is a good fit with just the shearling lined top! If you like a boot to fit snug to your foot then thesend are not the boot for you, but if you don't mind a little room then I recommend these boots! The customer service that llbean provides is awesome and they do a great job helping you anyway they can!

I bought these boots years ago at least 27 years ago. I love the boot great for a slip on boot going to the woodpile , quick trip to the store or shoveling a couple inches of snow. I saddle soap the leather ever year . Hear is the draw back - Before you buy them ask LLBEAN if they will replace the Shearling-Liner . I have been chasing them for years and no results. My liner is in disrepair and I was told to go to a local cobbler. Cobbler is a lost art in my town . Or they would replace my boots. I won't give up my boots I want a repair. I would buy another pair in a second but they have to be able to replace the Shearling-Liner . Just got off the phone with ll Bean and still not going to replace and Im willing to pay.

Rated 2 out of 5 by obcorgi Disappointed. Not as described.
Seriously disappointed. Wow. Shearling lined to me means that the entire footbed and shaft should be shearling. That is my understanding of 'lined'. Not the case. The insoles and foot are not lined, only the shaft of the leg. Yeah, that's helpful for warmth. NOT. (Sarc) Really?? Save $50 and buy the other boot and wear a sock. You'll be better off. Will likely return them as they are prohibitively expensive and do not have value as there is not enough warmth in the foot itself, which to me, is the entire point of the upgrade to a shearling lining. They are oversized, but that is what one wants in a winter boot to give room betwen the toe and the weather. That part doesn't bother me, but 'as advertised' they are NOT.

Rated 4 out of 5 by lincolnville heel is too wide
These just arrived today and have to go back. I wear a 9.5 medium in regular shoes, I ordered a 9 in the Bean boot. The length was fine but the heal slips out completely. Otherwise, the support, comfort, the tumbled leather and the ease of a slip on are wonderful. I am kind of heartbroken because I really wanted a shearling slip on. Anyhow, I have now ordered the 8 inch lace up Bean boot which is backordered until early December. Please LL Bean, can we have a zipper or something so you don't have to deal with laces? I love your products but you have discontinued a lot of Bean boots in the past couple of years that had zippers or pull on features and the heel did not slip out. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WinstonsMom Comfort right out of the box
I've been wearing these since I received them and kept asking myself why did you wait so long! Per the instructions I went down a size to a 7 and are a great fit right out of the box. Since they're an easy on/off boot I spend even more time outdoors, which my labs are even happier about! Now that the weather is turning cooler I swapped the insoles that came in the boot for the shearling insoles and I couldn't be happier. Thank you LLBean for these and whatever you do don't discontinue or change a thing!
