This is the third pair of bean boots I've purchased in the last three years. I have two pair of uninsulated which I wear all fall, winter, and spring! I've gotten all my boots in a size 9 and usually wear a 8 1/2 in other shoes, but I get the 9 because I love thick socks. Since I wear these boots so often I decided to get a shearling lined pair for the winter time. These boots are everything I hoped for. The only thing is, unlike the uninsulated bean boots the tongue is not attached all the way to the top of the boot, meaning they are not "100% waterproof" (not that LLBean said they were, but one can dream). The shearling is super warm and does not go all the way to the foot bed which I actually prefer. The shearling stops by the ankle bone, which is nice because then you don't need to worry about the shearling rubbing off in the heal. There is thinsulate in the rest of the foot area. You can always purchase the shearling insoles if you need to! I already have them and will most definitely be adding them during the colder months! Thanks LLBean for another perfect pair of boots.

These are great shoes for the winter but as the description says they do run large. I normally wear a 6.5 and purchased a size 7 since they recommend going up a size if you plan to wear thick socks with them. The 7 was way too big even with thick socks. I returned them for the size 6, which fit much better but are still a little roomie. All in all they keep my feet warm and dry.

This is my second pair of shearling lined bean boots. My first pair is the Shearling Lined Signature Tumbled-Leather L.L.Bean Boots, 16" and the lining is throughout the entire boot. These 8" boots only have the shearling lining on the shaft of the boot, not in the foot bed. For the price and description of these boots, I was really disappointed to not find the lining throughout. The transition from the shearling lining to the cloth lined footbed is at a significant seam right around mid heel. Not impressed that I need to worry about blisters in what should be a ridiculously comfortable boot, or that my foot would really benefit from the warmth in an assumed fully lined boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Apeel Great boot but be careful because they run large
Great boot for the New England winters. I bought a pair last year from a LL Bean store which someone had returned. I am a true size 7 shoe, medium width. I bought a size 7, wide because that's all the store had and I really wanted a pair for the winter. The 7, wide were huge when I tried them on in the store, but I thought I could wear a thick sock with them and be fine. Needless to say I had to wear a thin sock and a thick LL Bean Ragg Camp sock and they were still too big. I finally was able to order a size 6 online which are still roomy but I can now wear with one pair of thick socks and I should be fine. Long story short, these boots run very big so I would recommend sizing down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KevinTheCatsMom Wonderful...but ENORMOUS!
I ordered these online and had them delivered to a store because shoes are tricky and I figured if they didn't fit, I could return or swap them right there. I did not read the reviews until after I'd ordered and that was a mistake. As nearly every other reviewer mentions, these boots are wildly massive. I put them on and felt like I was walking around in scuba flippers. Luckily they had them a full size and a half smaller in the store and I was able to get them. As usual, the customer service in the store was impeccable. From the greeter who got the ordered package for me, to the woman at the register, to the awesome show dept guy. Top itch as usual, LL Bean.

I was so excited to receive my bean boots! I'm typically a size 8.5-9 in flat shoes (usually always a 9) so I ordered a 9 to be on the safe side. That was a mistake, they were huge even with thick socks- my feet were slipping in the shoes as I walked on snow. Luckily, LL Bean has an amazing return policy and even though I wore them once, I was able to return them for a size 8. Now they fit amazingly. I tried them on without socks (I just returned them in the summer and didn't have socks on) and they were a tiny bit loose but I know they will be perfect with socks. My advice for anyone buying these shoes would be to size down! Otherwise, amazing boots and I know I will have these for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mainetrailgirl Great fit, get the shearling insoles
These boots are great! The tumbled leather is soft and has that comfortable, broken in feel. The shearling lining is plush and cozy. But, please note, the shearling lines only the leather portion of the boot. The rubber portion is lined with a quilted type material. Definitely spend the extra money to get the shearling insoles. They make the foot portion of the boot just as cozy as the ankle portion. The fit is perfect. I ordered a 9 in the boot and an 8 in the shearling insoles. I am usually an 8.5-9. They will fit perfectly with light to mid-weight socks. They are so comfortable with the insoles. These will be my go to run around boots for the fall, winter, and spring here in Maine. And, they're cute, too! LL Bean: Please consider offering these boots in an navy/tan option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MeghanB Perfect for New England winters
I just got my first pair of LLBean boots and I could not be more happy. The lining is so soft and keeps your feet warm. Also the fit is perfect for wearing thicker socks. Happy to have a pair of these after the last winter we had.

I ordered these boots in December and they were on backorder. In February, I received a notification from LL Bean about the status of my order. When I clicked on the notification, it said that my order had been completed even though the boots had not shipped. I was charged $0 and after getting clarification from a customer service rep, I realized that my order had been cancelled without my permission and that I needed to place a new order. While it was a slight nuisance to place a new order when I had been willing to wait, I reordered in May, and it worked out because a coupon code gave me a 10% discount that I wouldn't have gotten with my original order. The boots finally arrived in July!
I tried them on and they are the perfect fit--I usually wear size 8 and these still have room for regular socks but would be snug with wool socks. Even without wool socks, the shearling made my feet feel super warm! I would go with the tumbled leather because the boots were not stiff so they didn't need to be broken in. The quality of the boots feels lasting and durable, but I have not tested them out in the snow yet, so I will need to update this review.
I have been on the search for winter boots that are fashionable, waterproof, and warm (while Uggs are warm and cute, they are not waterproof and the rock salt stains are hard to clean). LL Bean fits all the criteria. I think I am prepared for Chicago winters now.
PS Their customer service is exceptional. When trying to figure out my size, a rep helped me and answered all my questions. When needing clarification on my order status, someone readily emailed me back.
I can't say there is a con besides the long wait but it makes sense that so many people are after these boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by kk08 Comfortable and wide.
These shearling-lined boots feel as it they are already broken in, very comfortable! I originally ordered the Gortex-thinsulated boot but sent it back as it was way too big and pretty stiff. As for sizing, I followed the L.L. Bean recommendation. I normally wear a 9.5 and consider my feet to have a wide toe box. I debated on ordering these in a wide but I am glad I choose the standard M width. My toes seem to have plenty of room, no squishing on the sides. I did order the shearling liner to use during the cold winter days as I do a lot of walking outside on a daily basis. I can't wait to start wearing these this Winter!
