Exceptionally comfortable and warm. Generous fit without being bulky. Ordered a new one today, existing one is almost 10 years old and remains in excellent condition.
The pockets contain an inner Velcro closure to secure any items from falling out, great feature. The hood lays down, does not have that pointy look while being generous enough to allow the wearing of a knit hat or baseball style cap underneath.
Extremely comfortable to wear while sailboat racing during windy days of late Autumn and early Spring. Great for hiking, yard work, bicycle rides and snow shoveling. Very durable, you will not be disappointed.

Finally, a high-quality, heavy-duty, non-skinnined, tough-as-nails-and-warm-as-toast, good looking, good fitting, complete package of goodness in the form of a sherpa-lined sweatshirt. GAWD I love this thing! Hat's off, Bean...you've realy done it with this Katahdin Iron Works product. Love, love, love me this sweatshirt!
Now PLEEEEEEZE don't go change it. Just make more of them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RidersDad Great item
This is my "go to" work sweatshirt during the winter. I have a number of these - with and without hoods. They are very warm - wear very well - are easy to clean. These do have some "heft" and are much more substantial than a normal weight sweatshirt. External patch pockets are not particularly warm. This item would be vastly improved simply by adding an inside breast pocket for cell phones/wallet/keys, etc.

I'd like to buy a gray one, but the color is wrong. It should be a light gray, like traditional athletic sweats. There would still be enough contrast with the fleece.
It would look way cooler.
I've been waiting a long time and it doesn't look like LLB is going to make a light gray one. But they didn't always have the present char gray one either. It came in a couple of years ago, so there is hope.
My present dark blue one is the best sweatshirt I've owned. It's true that the sleeves aren't as warm as the rest of it, but with a shell over it, it will stand up to January in North Dakota.

Rated 3 out of 5 by GREGMON Not exactly what I wanted
Very thick, seems well constructed, and the hood has two parallel seams so it avoids the pointy head look and drapes well over the neck. Unfortunately, the sleeves are not fuzzy and thick, but polyester lined. With a t-shirt, it doesn't feel like "aaaah". I seldom return things, but used LL Bean's generous policy on this one.

I am on my 3rd sweatshirt. I returned the other two because of holes in the fabric after washing. At first I thought it was our washing machine. When the second sweatshirt needed washing I took it took a laundromat for washing and the same thing happen. So I returned the items. One thing about L L Bean they do have a great warranty and gave me a refund. At some point it does get old having to return items. I hope the 3rd one works because the sweatshirt is WARM.

Rated 4 out of 5 by OtterSpace Great sweatshirt but lousy cuffs
My high school-age son lives in this sweatshirt! It's a great product and warm and cozy, but the cuffs started to fall apart less than a year after he started wearing it. We've mended them twice, but they need it again. The rest of the sweatshirt is incredibly durable and has held up well to wear and washing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lucky007 Awesome, Rugged, Comfortable
This sweat shirt is so well built, it made my "sweat" pants feel like my oxford cloth pajamas. Does KIW have a matching Sweat Pants?? Please?? Same color??? Fit was perfect, zipper was smooth and rugged, and it has not shrunk one millimeter after two wash/dry cycles. The fleece is very comfortable. What more can I say. I will probably get KIW's zippered turtleneck sweat shirt to complete my fitness wardrobe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RRDR Great Sweatshirt if you are small
This sweat shirt is a good heavy weight product, extra warm, sleeves are lined so easy on and off. however it runs small so I suggest that if you ware a large order a X Large if you are a 2XL you will be out of luck it feels like a XL.

Rated 4 out of 5 by YouMayCallMeMrBean Excellent Quality But Not Workwear
Overall the sweatshirt is great quality. These are the key aspects that I found enjoyable:
- The velcro on the pockets is a nice touch so that you don't lose your keys when you are working in the yard
- The sweatshirt is double stitched in many areas for durability
- I found the fleece lining to be comfortable and not itchy at all (I'm not sure why I thought it would be)
-The cloth is very thick and can keep you warm working out in your garage on those cold New England type days and the item will last you a long time
-The hood is large at least enough for a 6'-3" tall male, which is nice for those windy or snowy days
The one area I didn't like was the polyester sleeves which resulted in the 4 star not 5 star rating. I pictured this as a rugged workwear item. I thought this would be more like other workwear with fleece lining or cotton lining through the sleeves. The polyester doesn't breath and when you are working in it your sweat makes the sleeves stick to you uncomfortably. The sleeves just seem really out of place as it is like wearing fancy suit sleeves inside a sweatshirt. That is the best way to describe it: like a suit liner inside the sleeves of a sweatshirt. I hate suits.
Overall this is great for doing light tasks in your garage or out in the yard. I've put bolts and other hardware when I'm working in the velcro pockets which never drop them. It is more ideal though to wear it for around the house or out to dinner. Overall I find this very comfortable, and I have unintentionally fallen asleep on my couch several times wearing it.
