Nice looking shoe and very comfortable until you start walking. Rubbed the back of heel on the achilles so badly that it bled. Returned to LLB and will search for something else.

I bought these back when they first came out they offered 3 colors I chose the kelp green the 1st time i wore them they got wet and I could feel something hard rubbing on the back of my heels . It looked like whatever the material was inbetwen the canvas in the back of the sneaker was all crunched or broken up . I emailed LLbean about exchanging them and then due to unforseen circumstances I I was both away and tied up to the point I never mailed the sneakers in , I tried wearing them again & it was just to uncomfortable . more then 6 months passed and finally i mailed the sneakers to LL Bean , they quickly mailed back another pair and that pair is great they are very comfortable , lightweight , I ordered a wide & thats exactly what they r , they fit great , and unlike most other boat or deck shoes these sneakers not only are lightweight they have support for standing longperiods of time. These are my favorite shoes. Thanks LL bean for making the exchange so easy and quick , theres nothing better then a company that stands by what they sell.

I am torn on how to rate this sneaker. My husband LOVES the style, the look and padding in the shoe - 5+ stars for design. He couldn't wait to wear them. He normally wears a 10.5, but we bought a 11 based on other reviewer recommendations. Unfortunately, after 20 minutes of walking, he experienced tremendous rubbing at the achillis region of the foot; enough to draw blood. But like a kid, my husband begged me to see if I could fix them somehow. After reading other reviews, it was apparent that many others had experienced similar rubbing issues. Recommendations said to use a hammer on the back of the shoe to soften the heel. As crazy as I felt hammering a shoe, it appears to work and so far no additional blood has been shed. Bottom line is that my husband now loves the look AND fit of the shoes. These are now great shoes and we will be keeping them. Perhaps a redesign of the back of the shoe would make these a perfect shoe without any user requirements.

Love this shoe. Looks great. Has good arch support (that was a nice surprise that I wasn't expecting). I don't understand what some people were referring to with the seam in the back near the heel? The seam isn't large, it doesn't stick out and it doesn't rub your skin. I have pretty wide feet and was worried if the EE was going to be wide enough. It is perfect. I liked it so much I waited 2 weeks to see how it went, then I ordered a second pair in the other color.

The part of the shoe that surrounds the ankle chafes the Achilles tendon area of my ankles. This caused sore areas to develop on the back of my ankles after I took only two steps. I had ordered one pair in each color, and they both fit the same unpleasant way, so this is a design flaw, not a defective example. I recommend that the design be modified to replace the single narrow strip at the ankle with a pad at the back of the ankle, in the manner of walking shoes.
Otherwise the fit was very good, and I have wide feet.
As for the squeaking problem pointed out by others, I don't know how a deck shoe with good gripping characteristics (like this product) could be made without having the side effect of squeaking.
Obviously, since so many others rated this shoe with 5 stars, the ankle chafing is not a problem for many people. Whether that is due to a change in design or to variations in individual sensitivities, I cannot say.

These are my second pair of these canvas deck shoes from LLB.
My original interest in these was the lack of sewn on lightning bolts and other such nonsense.
After wearing the first pair for a full summer, my hammer toes slumber happily inside without making their presence known.
Also, last but not least, my grandson's comment: "Papa, cool shoes!"
