Rated 1 out of 5 by peterkc Poor design, too long
Liner has elastic waist, outer shorts require a belt. Clumsy snap tabs attach liner to outer shorts
Black shorts make no sense for a sunny summer day, especially when they are too long for good ventilation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Leash Nice Quality, poor fit for me
I like these cycling shorts except that they do not fit me very well at all. I am a 33 waist and ordered the medium, but both the liners and the shorts are very loose. I found them to get hung up on the seat. I am going to return, but am seriously thinking about exchanging for the smalls. The quality seems good, but being loose does not help.
Would recommend if they fit the individual.

Rated 3 out of 5 by cyclebum Good construction, but too too big.
My husband wears a 30 waist, so we ordered the small. They fit like a medium. We had to send them back. The construction seemed good however. One thing I would like to point out is that the exterior shorts and the interior padded shorts can be worn separately from each other. The shorts were not lightweight like I thought they might be -- fairly heavy material. And the inseam was longer than I thought it would be. My husband is 5'7 and these came down to the top of his knees.

Nice to wear all together or just take the insert out and use with our bikes rides. Wash well, both pieces.

The style of these shorts is just what I wanted; a cycling shorts liner under regular shorts. The medium size I bought fits fine now. But it feels like the elastic waist band may stretch out over time, we'll see. While the pockets are a little small, the reality is I don't need to carry that much in them; credit cards, license, & cash. So they are fine for my purposes. All in all, I'm satisfied with these shorts and look forward to many comfortable rides.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jbs1 Sizing still not right
While LL Bean says they fixed the sizing, their Medium still isn't right. I normally wear a 32-33. The Medium is supposed to be 32-34. But it's way too big. Feels more like 34-36.
And as others have noted, the pockets are too small to be of much use, hard to even get your hand into the zippered ones.

The only reason i give these bike shorts 4 stars instead of 5 is they have belt loops. a draw string like on a swim suit would be far more practical/ comfortable. They have an adjustable elastic waistband and button system inside. Not sure how effective it will be long term... but with the 100% satisfaction guarantee how can you go wrong!

Rated 4 out of 5 by GaryGAryGary too big
bought these for my Dad for his birthday. He usually would wear an XL, but these were WAY too big, as are most things at LL Bean. buy one size smaller with them. always.

Received these shorts as a gift from my wife. Nice fabric and trim-fitting. All-around, I like these shorts but the pockets are too small and the zippers do not allow easy access. I wear size 34 pants and the medium size fits well. The padding is removable and has afforded unbinding comfort throughout three rides of over two hours each. I plan to wear these shorts often this coming summer and will be part of my RAGBRAI gear.
