Rated 4 out of 5 by JTCSr Bike shorts
The only reason i give these bike shorts 4 stars instead of 5 is they have belt loops. a draw string like on a swim suit would be far more practical/ comfortable. They have an adjustable elastic waistband and button system inside. Not sure how effective it will be long term... but with the 100% satisfaction guarantee how can you go wrong!

Rated 4 out of 5 by GaryGAryGary too big
bought these for my Dad for his birthday. He usually would wear an XL, but these were WAY too big, as are most things at LL Bean. buy one size smaller with them. always.

Received these shorts as a gift from my wife. Nice fabric and trim-fitting. All-around, I like these shorts but the pockets are too small and the zippers do not allow easy access. I wear size 34 pants and the medium size fits well. The padding is removable and has afforded unbinding comfort throughout three rides of over two hours each. I plan to wear these shorts often this coming summer and will be part of my RAGBRAI gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KatyBiker Nice Style and Comfort
I now have two pairs of these biking shorts since I ride multiple times per week up to 100 miles and love the amount of seat padding. The XL shell is a little small and the liner is a little big for my 38" waist and 6'7" ht but love the pair when I bike to work. Have the traditional bike shorts for my group rides but they pale in comparison to the comfort of these. Will take these over the traditional shorts this spring for the MS150 rides and will make that recommendation to everyone I ride with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by boybright Very pleased;agree with size complaints
First pair of bike shorts and I love the features;zippered pockets, removable liner and adjustable sizing tabs. The reviews are correct-the medium I purchased is big. I bought a cool belt and used the tabs. I measured my waist before I ordered and I am a 35". I would get the small next time, unless LL Bean corrects the sizing. Would like to see Bean respond to this. That is my only gripe, otherwise very happy,as usual, with LL Bean products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by 43054Rider Disappointing ! If I could keep them up, . . . .
I own the previous version of these shorts, and they've been durable and useful for almost 10 years. This new version has many nice feature upgrades, but the sizing is so far off base that I can't wear them. I measure about a 31" waist, I ordered your smallest size after reading numerous reviews that the product runs quite big. Your smallest size was still WAY too big on me, even after using the new built-in waist adjusters. I would have needed suspenders to keep these up on mountain bike rides, so regretfully I had to return them.
When/If you get accurate sizing established, I'd love to have a pair that fits me. BTW, the older pair of the original version, that I still have & wear, are size S.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Comfort106 Not just for biking
Bought these for the material and comfort for walking not biking.
The shorts launder excellently.
Look good and are everything I wanted
The fit is a true medium.
Color is also good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lonerider Good deal for biking
These shorts are great. They have multiple pockets, and the zippered ones down along the legs are located just right so they will not be in the way while on the bike. The shorts have several breathable panels and a removable inner short with padding, so you can wear them as regular shorts, or without the inner. You can also use the inner with other shorts if you want, adding versatility.
Nothing beats traditional road shorts for comfort, but compared to other baggy shorts these are pretty good; not too thick, adjustable tabs on the waist, good fit. Plus these have pockets. Around town, or rolling through the woods, these are a great deal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by WashingtonCyclist Nice Shorts, Bizarre Sizing
I had high hopes because mountain-biking style shorts that aren't long and baggy are getting hard to find.
I have a 34" waist, and am at the upper range of what medium cycling shorts generally fit. I saw the reviewers' comments about sizing, but according to the sizing chart I am at the upper limit for a medium so figured that I would be okay.
When I received them I saw that they were a little large, but figured that I'd give them a try. The trouble to return them and pay a restocking fee influenced this decision. That and not wanting to gamble on a size small fitting. And having worn and laundered them, I'm not going to try and return them now.
The shorts are borderline large, but will work, especially if worn with a belt #right, a belt with cycling shorts, but they do have belt loops#.
The liner is huge. It's marked M, but should be L or XL. The liner is going to Goodwill.
I'd have rated them 3 stars, because they're nice shorts. But with the clearly established pattern of being too large, the way-outsized liner, and inconvenience associated with returning them, I knocked it down a point.
