It is next to impossible to find a flannel shirt without a button-down collar, with a patch pocket (no button, no flap). This meets that criteria, and I have searched everywhere, so the high price is worth it. However, it is not true flannel. The shirt is 20 percent silk, but it looks and feels like lightweight flannel. It's nice looking, comfortable, and fits well. It's cut a bit small, so if you're on the cusp order the larger size (you can shrink it in the wash, if necessary). If you don't want to shrink it, follow the washing instructions carefully, especially the first time, and throw in a couple of Shout Color Catcher sheets, because it will bleed. Also, be aware of the removable collar stays and remove them before washing. This shirt is not quite as warm as I had hoped, but it's so comfortable and nice looking that I may order another one. And it does NOT have a button-down collar!!

Very very fancy shirt (for me). Perfect fit and absolutely fantastic feel to it. Colors are more vibrant than picture here. Fabric is not thick like other Bean flannel shirt but feels very high quality.

I've been in love with this shirt since opening the package; the multicolored pattern is just perfect and the material is soft and comfortable to wear. I purchased this shirt with another L.L. Bean shirt and have just placed a second order so that I have two of each. They both fit my lifestyle and wearing either one makes me feel great.

This shirt is a bit wonky. Flannel feels ok, but not really sure about the silkiness of it. I hope it stops feeling like Madonna's bed-sheets after a few washings. Also why does a causal shirt have removable collar stays? The collar is too stingy to wear with a tie anyhow...

Rated 5 out of 5 by davesf229 a great shirt
This is the best flannel I've found. Soft and warm. Fit is great - I'm 5' 8", 130 and the small fits well. Wish they had this material in real scotch plaids - royal stuart, scott, black watch. But that's a suggestion.
If you like flannel, you'll love this shirt.

This Belfast shirt is very well made. Also, unlike most other LLB shirts, this one is fitted and not baggy around the waist. At 5'9" and 155lbs, the small regular fits me best. With other LLB shirts such as the oxfords, I had to take them to the seamstress to take the waists in. Good for LLB to make shirts that fit slimmer men like me who don't have a belly. Another bonus with this shirt is that it doesn't attract lint or pet hair. I recently bought a moleskin (loden) shirt and it attracted lint and pet hair like a magnet - quite a problem as I have a dog and 2 cats. At the marked down price, this shirt is a great buy. Thank you LLB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Alex443 The feel of the fabric is fantastic.
Got this shirt yesterday and was surprised how great the fabric feels. It's much more exquisite than the average flannel. And the fit is perfect. I'm 6'4", 280 lbs, athletic, and some of the XXL shirts in a more traditional cuts give me much more space for the paunch than I really need. The items in Signature line are well-suited for a guys with V-shaped torso, I'm happy with all the things that I've bought from this section of the LLBean site.

I bought this for myself in a small, I'm 5'4, 125lbs. It fit a bit large, which is what I wanted, and covered my bum completely. I've now had this magnificent shirt a couple months and still am in love with it. It washes fantastic, and if you want it to shrink a smidge then put it in the dryer...I did, and it still fits great. I just now saw the red and slate color on sale, and purchased it too...bought the blue and cream full price and didn't care, that's how great this shirt is!

I wasn't too sure about the color of this shirt when I first saw it. Now that I have it in my possession, I am glad that I got it. The fit of the Signature line, for me (athletic frame), is much nicer than the traditional line. This looks and feels like a flannel that would normally be twice the price. Also, the weave is very tight and the material is very soft.

As the title says, this shirt is great for both dressing up and dressing down. The shirt has a buttonless collar that is slightly reminiscent of a spread collar, but is not one.
I got the blue and the colors (while not exactly what you see online) are very flattering and very well designed. They are handsome and compliment most things and work with most everything, considering it's both light and dark, it can be worn with nearly any color pant or jacket.
I only gave the shirt four stars for two reasons. It's overly expensive and because of the fit. As someone else said, the shirt fits well around the chest and arms and is flattering. However, for some reason that I don't understand, L. L. Bean designed the shirt with more room in the belly than usual. Most Signature stuff is slim fitting and designed for trim men. However, this is item is and is not. This extra room in the belly isn't a tremendous problem, as the shirt still looks fine both tucked and untucked, but it should be fixed.
