Rated 4 out of 5 by Qmis Stylish and Functional Bag
This bag is exactly the size I wanted. It is large enough to hold what I need yet small enough to be comfortable to carry for long periods. It has several compartments to keep items organized and separated along with a protective slot for an iPad or tablet. I especially like the attached key holder in the front area.
The strap is adjustable and has a sliding, padded piece for the shoulder, which is comfortable. The material is durable and the zippers are good quality as are the zipper tags. The color and front design are really pretty and feminine.
The only oddities are the clip and velcro closure for the front and the lack of a zipper on the largest compartment. I like that there are two mechanisms to keep the bag closed for better security but the velcro can stick to your sleeve if you are not careful and can be loud to open-impossible to be discreet if you are in a lecture or quiet place.
I would prefer a zipper on the largest compartment for security as I can reach through the bag while clipped and velcroed closed and pull items out of this compartment from the sides. Some may find this convenient but I think small items could fall out and other hands could get into it.
Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and have been using it consistently. It is great for everyday use and traveling. I would recommend it as a tote bag or purse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Reets1 Osprey FlapJack mini shoulder bag
Once I received bag in the mail it appeared less "feminine" than in the catalog. A very heavy shoulder strap and adjustable "buckle". Seemed too heavy for what might be carried in the bag. For its size it did not seem as roomy as one might think. For me it was not what I expected and therefore not useable. My suggestion would be to put a lighter weight strap on it, but strong; and use either Velcro OR a clasp closure on the flap....but not both. Too much work to get inside. Might be great for someone with high security concerns.

Rated 4 out of 5 by moewmoew fit is good, holds my needs, great pockets
I love the color, it fit well over my shoulder. I have enough room to carry paper, kindle, phone, wallet and everyday items. I bought it for my vacation but use it everyday now.

I have been using this bag for over a month and love how it carries a lot of stuff. It is also a nice color and the material is strong.

Rated 4 out of 5 by dcshops Much better color than picture shows
Love this bag, the color is much more of a deep lilac, (think the dark purple lilac flower that leans a little towards magenta) towards purple than picture shows-check out ospreys website for truer picture. It is bigger than the term "mini" would suggest though, my iPad has 3-4 inches to spare in the width department. The bag is not too deep like some vertical tablet bags though and has nice pockets. Some complain that there is no exterior water bottle pocket, the bottle can fit inside with all the other stuff I mention! Would give this bag 5 stars if it were just big enough for my iPad, cosmetic bag, crayons and had a change/cash pocket on the flap like my sherpani bag. Very well built, velcro patch on flap very secure. Hopefully they will come out with a "micro" bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by jennww2ns Darker than pictured
I ordered the teal color and found it to be darker / duller than pictured but actually like it better - it's feminine without being so young / flashy.
It's a really good size for what I need (lunch, purse, keys, umbrella and/or gloves/toque) and feels solidly constructed.
The strap is long enough that I can wear it across my body over top of a heavy winter coat (and I am a 2x).

This is a great bag! Not too big and not too small. The inside easily fits camera, books, wallet, travel maps, etc. Has separate zipper area in front for small items. Shoulder strap is very comfortable. Just the right size bad when you don't want the larger duffle bag or backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LESCommuter A keeper for a newcomer to messenger bags
I've been bike commuting for over 4 years now. Had been using backpacks and imperceptibly developed some serious shoulder issues for the pullback effect. I've since been using fanny and waist packs which I like a lot but they don't fit much and can interfere with the bicycle seat.
I like this bag once i got used to the whole messenger bag feel. I knew it was on the small side and as i don't have a laptop it's fine but that said it doesn't fit a lot. The compartments are what make me reach for it; great organizational options. I'm thinking of getting the full size one as well for when I want to port more than this allows but I'm giving this more use before I conclude I need more. I got the plum color which is nice and as appears.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ChicagoBeanJunkie Not what I expected
This isn't necessarily what I would call a negative review so read on.... I ordered this messenger bag for my 8 yr old daughter for back to school as she didn't want a backpack this year. The color is not as pictured online.... It's not a pretty bright turquoise/teal color - it's a much darker drab shade of teal. I also didn't pay attention to the dimensions - my fault - it is a small bag - it's not big enough to hold books, folders & a lunch bag, which is what we need. The model that is pictured holding this bag must be really tiny as the bag looks decent sized on her. With that said, the quality of the bag is excellent which is why I love L.L. Bean & for quality, I would give it five stars. This bag just didn't work for us so we will be returning it. I would recommend it to others as the quality is really good - just be aware the color is much darker than pictured & pay attention to the dimensions.
L.L. Bean - I did also order the large L.L. Bean messenger bag with the blue polka dot print - Love it!! Keep leaning towards these brighter cheery colors for women please! Especially with outerwear & clothes - I would shop with you more if your color pallet for women were more enticing. The dark teals, mauves, purple, & green shades you typically have are so drab! Many times they look really bad after washing as well. Just my two cents...
