Rated 5 out of 5 by A2WV Fits perfectly, well-made, and very comfortable.
This is really a great pair of shoes. They fit my 7.5 wide foot perfectly, were stable, and provided good support in the instep. The soles were sturdy and comfortably supportive, with just the right amount of cushion. Great tread too. And the lacing eyes and keepers were very well-thought-out. The top lace keeper is set a little to one side, which really makes the laces and tongue stay where you put them.
I almost rated these with 4 stars instead of 5 because of the the "trail" part. I can see these being used on groomed, firmly-packed trails, such as a well-worn path in the woods or a park, and for that they would be perfect. And I'm thinking that these shoes would serve equally well tromping around outlet malls all day. Ladies, that cement hiking can be brutally painful! But I need protection from rocks, sticks, and other hazards one encounters in areas that are not well-groomed.
These shoes don't have any leather, or some other type of thick material, protecting the area where the baby toes come in contact with the outside of the shoe. On these shoes, there is only nylon material at that location. I would expect a trail shoe to have some sort of thick material to come up from the sole, go over the baby toe area, then up to where the laces are located. This would provide both protection and additional stability.
These shoes were so good though, that they made my feet stop hurting and got rid of the aches in my lower legs. So, just because they didn't suit the kinds of "trails" that I traverse was not reason to rate them anything less than perfect. They really earned the 5-star rating.
I would highly recommend these shoes, if you don't need quite the protection required on a rough trail. They really are excellent and I hated to send them back, but they just didn't fit my needs.
