Thrilled with these. Cold feet no longer cut my winter walks short. They do take up a lot of room in the boot, so best to use with a roomy shoe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tiggersmommy no more frozen toes
I purchased a new pair of size 11 (I normally wear a 9) zipper boots hoping that with the extra room I could wear double socks and keep my toes from freezing while out shoveling snow. The extra socks didn't work so I decided to try the Thermacell heated insoles. Based on the size chart I ordered the XL which when trimmed down barely fit in my boots and were very difficult to insert and remove. The second time I used them I actually pulled off one of the tabs that are supposed to facilitate removing them from your boots. LL Bean immediately replaced them and since the XL were such a tight fit I decided to try the Large instead which was a perfect fit in my size 11's. So my suggestion would be to try one size down from the manufacturers suggestion and see if they fit before going up a size. You also need to have a boot that zips or has laces that you can loosen because the insoles are very stiff and thick and would be nearly impossible to put in and take out of boots that don't open up. I also think that the tab on the back is a very poor design and would suggest a loop to make it easier to get hold of it to pull the insoles out. That being said I found that wearing these insoles for 2 hours while out in 9 degree weather with a negative wind chill my toes never got cold so to me they are worth the hassle. You do need to charge them up before using them and if you leave them in your boots all day even on the no heat setting you will need to charge them again before using them. One of the reviews said they couldn't tell if they were on or not. Before putting them in my boots I always check to make sure that the light is blinking and then use the remote to set the heat level and check to make sure that the blinking has increased so that I know they are on. The directions say that they work best with light to mid-weight socks and due to the thickness of the insoles I can only wear lightweight wool socks even with my oversized boots but my feet are very comfortable with just the light socks. I wish I had found these sooner. I would have given this item 5 stars if it weren't for what I consider a design flaw with the flimsy pull tab on the heel.

Heated Insoles just did not do the job! Never warmed my feet. Returned them after 1 use. Width and length were fine, no cutting necessary, my boot size is 9M. Hopefully the new Heated Insole that has just come out will do the job.

I returned them. My plan was to use disposable warmers, and when they died down, use the battery warmth. It was a great plan however one flaw. The inserts are slightly thick enough that you would purchase a different boot size to accommodate. I already own to many boots, don't want to purchase new ones to make these work, well at least not this year. I might in the future. Purchased and played around with in my home. Placed in different boots, wore around the house for the evening. I can tell they provide enough warmth to make a difference when hunting. These are just slightly thicker then you would want to put up with. It makes the boot just tight enough that it hinders toe wiggle and cuts circulation. Things that hinder warmth in cold weather. They are a little hard to fit into a tall boot, especially in the field, but would be fine at camp or at home. Next time I purchase a boot I will keep this in mind, and my repurchase them...well assuming boots don't have built in warmers by then. Gut check, great product. PS - There is a slight math issue with the price. You can purchase a lot of disposable warmers for the cost. Then again multiple options to warm make more sense the colder your feet are at that moment. Thank you LL bean warranty for giving me the courage to try them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by skier100 Thermacell heated innersoles
I bought these for my wife for skiing.
She has used them twice and is very happy with them and her toasty warm feet. You can control warmth by turning thermacell on or off as needed with the remote.
I took the liners out of her ski boot and removed the footpad that came with the ski boot.
I then inserted the thermacell heated innersoles into the liner, and they worked perfectly.
After a day skiing, you do need to pull the liner from the ski boot in order to remove the thermacell for charging.
My wife says they are very comfortable.
She wears a womens size 8. I ordered a medium and did not have to trim.
I'm happy that we can now ski, and my wife is not complaining about her cold feet anymore!!!

These heated insoles work exactly as promised; they warm my feet without getting hot and without making my feet sweaty. They kept my feet warm snow throwing, snow shoeing, and sitting in a very cold office.
Only two minor negatives. One is that you really cannot tell when they are one and the other is that they are difficult to fit in certain shoes/boots. The insoles have very little flexibility, making them difficult to insert into tall boots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Luvchocolate Kept my feet comfortable
These heated insoles kept my feet warm in 11 degree weather for 4 hours! Of that 4 hours, I spent about 2 1/2 to 3 hours sitting on a chair with my feet in the snow. As the insert says, they are designed to keep your feet comfortable and around normal body temperature. They are not designed to get hot like disposable foot warming pads so your feet will not sweat. I was very nervous as to whether or not these would prevent my feet from getting cold as my feet are very sensitive to the cold and will go numb very quickly when exposed to the slightest cold weather. But these were fantastic and I would highly recommend this product. On the down side, they are thick and do not bend at all so I was not able to even get them into my pull on Sketcher boot. I had to wear my daughter's pull on Ugg boots which are wider at the ankle and in-step and are flat. There is no way you can wear this with a healed boot, a boot that fits snugly already, or one that slightly narrows around the ankle. I also tried it with the LL Bean classic lace up boot and thought it was too tight with the insole. It kept my feet warm but I had a hard time finding a boot that would accommodate the insole.

Rated 4 out of 5 Slightly Warm
I wore these insoles inside my winter boots for the first time today. The outside temperature was -22 celsius (-7F). The kept my feet from freezing, but I wouldn't call them "warm". I was outdoors for about two hours and my feet were not what I consider cold or unconfortable. However, I have my doubts that they would be warm enough if the temperature was down to -30 C or F.
The fit was fine inside my size 8 boots. I purchased the "large" size. They are quite stiff though making it hard to get them into these 8" high boots. I hope they will soften up with use. They would be unsuitable for dress boots but are fine for snow boots.
