These totes are amazingly handy. Even more amazing is they actually fold back up as easy as they come out. You know all those great jackets that fold into their pocket and to make it happen again is a miracle? These things really do make life easier. I keep at least one in my purse and carry several with me to the Farmer's Market. Great for urban shopping where carts are not part of the equation. I love that they don't add extra weight to the items already being carried and slip easily over the shoulder when full. I like too that they help out the mom and pop stores by reducing the need for disposable bags. Do be aware they have no structure of their own and do not function like a canvas tote...more like a plastic grocery bag without the need to double bag!

I purchased this for my daughter in college and let me say, it has been heavily packed full. I then bought one for myself. It works out well to tuck in your purse or backpack so when you have multiple little purchases, you can more easily hold them all in one bag.

This bag is good for keeping in your purse until you need it. Small bag in pouch fits nicely in pocket of purse without bulk. Used on a trip for carting purchases while shopping. Could be deeper to hold items inside better, or a zipper across the top, otherwise very handy.
Handle could be a couple of inches longer to fit over bulky winter coats.

As some of the other reviewers have noted, the fabric is a thin weight nylon which makes it difficult to keep it from collapsing when putting stuff in it. Having said that, if it were made with heavier fabric, it would not pack down so compactly. It would be nicer if it were tall and narrow instead of its current dimensions, but it did work great for my quilt batting when I used it for the first time. I love how it fits in my purse so I have it when I need it. I love avoiding the waste of using store bags.

This is the perfect size to just whip out of your purse and grab your groceries, or goodies and go!! It weighs almost nothing and it is small enough to fit in a small purse.

Returned it to LLBean because it didn't seem sturdy enough for grocery shopping. It comes out of its own little pouch, but is difficult to repack. If needed only for light weight shopping, it would be fine.

I live in a city where you have to bring your own bag everywhere or must pay for each bag the store provides (grocery stories, department stores, pharmacies, etc.). While this tote shape works really well in canvas, this bag is the wrong shape for nylon. The small items you put in it pull the bottom down in the center and the rest of the bottom now becomes a flappy side. For this bag to be functional, you can only carry items the same shape as the bag. It would be great if LLBean could also offer a nylon bag that is narrow and tall, shaped more like a grocery bag.

This tote takes up very little space when not in use and offers ample room when opened up. I use it to throw items like my towel, sunscreen, book, and other small items when going to the beach.
I may be buying one or two more just to have in my car for a trip to the grocery store or when an impromptu day trip pops up.

This tote is almost weightless. I keep it in my handbag to use when grocery shopping, and whip it out to fascinate the cashiers and baggers. It's hard to believe that such a large and sturdy bag can be easily stuffed back into an ultra-small sack. I've given these pocket totes as gifts and everyone agrees with me that they're a favorite.
