Rated 5 out of 5 by AbbycatMom what I was looking for!
I purchased these for additional layering under other activewear, and they are just what I was looking for. Lightweight material, and a perfect fit in waist, hips, and "rise". Material is comfortable, smoothly hugs the skin while stretches well with movement. The only drawback is they are not quite as "quick-dry" (esp in the waistband), during heavier activity, as I'd expected, but ths is minor, and I look forward to many hours of comfortable warmth!

Rated 2 out of 5 by TravelingOnandOn no comparison to SmartWool
Looked all over the LLBean store for SmartWool, which they don't carry, for some reason. Found these instead. No comparison. They lack the stretch recovery, some of the stitching came unraveled immediately (non-essential) and are not a smooth as a SmartWool garment. These points along with the blue stitching on a black garment would cause me to not purchase these or any other Cresta wool products again. Oh, and they are not cheaper than SmartWool either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SpinnerWeaver Best Ever Purchase!
I ordered these wool base layer pants in the lightweight, in one size down according to recommendations in other reviews. Although I'm often bothered by tight waistbands because of surgery scars, the fit was comfortable. I'm now waiting for the mid weight pants to add to my winter wardrobe. I've washed and hung to dry the lightweight pair and they still look new. The fabric is so soft and non itchy. The only thing I would change is to use black thread for the hems instead of blue. The weight will be just right for fall, and then I'll switch to the mid weight. I consider this to be one of my best ever purchases from LL Bean and it was competing against literally hundreds of purchases over decades of ordering. I'm now hoping for the same experience with the wool tops.

These fit nicely, but the material was too scratchy for my sensitive skin.

So soft, comfortable and warm!
Great for outdoors, the office or for evening. Not bulky, you forget they are there. But you will notice, they offer a wonderful extra layer against the cold. I want to wear them everyday!

Love my new wool long underwear -- it is thin but very warm and very comfortable. Wish I'd bought the top! It washed great and dried quickly too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by alicej44 My mistake I suppose
I guess I should have ordered these one size smaller so that they would be skin tight. Didn't know that so I find that they're not really warm on me, and therefore not worth the price.

A warm, soft, just right thickness, comfortable layer, but it has a few issues: the waist is very high (and I'm longwaisted so I never have that problem) and the waist band twists. The high waist means that the underwear may appear above the waist band of your pants or jeans (especially as so many pants/jeans are lower cut these days). Twisting waist band is annoying. They are warm and soft enough that I wear them anyway (much better than synthetic long underwear...I've sampled many types).
