The exterior fabric and the lining seem to be high quality fabric, and the gray color is quite nice. I tried on a pair with the regular waistband and a pair with the special, expandable (not contractible) waistband. In a size 6 regular, the waistline of both styles is much larger than it is in other LL Bean size 6 regular pants, and the rise is lower. The waistband sits below the waistline, not at the waistline as claimed in the product description. The waist is so large that I had to tighten my belt by two notches in order to make the pants with the regular waistband fit reasonably well. The size 6 regular with the special waistband was similarly loose and had the added demerit of thickness at the elastic spots. I sent that pair back. In both pairs, the legs seemed to be longer than the legs are on the other LL Bean size 6 regular pants styles that I usually wear.
Nevertheless, the pants that I kept are attractive, and I wore them out of the box to dinner at a nice restaurant. I had only to mist the packing creases with water and toss the pants into the dryer for a few minutes. They came out looking freshly ironed. I am eager to see how the pants emerge after going through a full washer and dryer cycle.
Note: The exterior fabric does look like wool but is soft, heavy cotton.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ShopperInCinci Well cut, versatile, warm pants
I have several of these pants in the regular waist style and am wearing them often during our sub-zero spate of cold weather. Overall, I find them perfect for dressing up with blazers and heels and dressing down with sweaters and boots. The fit is a bit loose but the cut is such that they don't look big on me. I have a size 4 and, with rather wider hips, a 2 (if available) might not work. So I do need a belt to keep them at my waist. I'm between petite and regular height so I chose regular based on the potential for shrinkage, and they are fine. I have not experienced any issues with washing, but I do wash them on gentle cycle, warm to cool water and dry with low to med heat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by GEMZ Lacks Quality Control
I would not recommend these pants. The fabric quality is not consistent. I bought six pairs over the last two years. Some of these pants still look good. However, in some cases, I washed these pants, following the care instructions, and the lining was longer than the pant legs when they came out of the dryer. Unfortunate, because these are nice pants - tightly woven cotton which could pass for wool, fully lined. Nice design, poor execution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lynn52 LOVE these pants!
I just received these pants the other day, and I can't wait to be able to wear them. They are longer and will need to be hemmed, but I expect that with LLBean pants on me. These are not just for weekend. They actually look a little dressier than the twill pants. They are comfortable and look so nice. I will enjoy these pants, no doubt. How I wish LLBean would make these in other colors-black, brown, navy...they are just wonderful.

These pants are great for work - a little dressy - and very comfortable. They wash well. However, they run very large. I normally wear a size 16 and in these a size 14 is looser than I would like. Would highly recommend overall, though.

I'm 5'9", slender with a 32 1/5 inseam so need Med/Tall. Love these pants, I have two pair; brown herringbone and gray. They are perfect for winter weather as I recently discovered - heavy weight, lined AND soft. They wash well with very slight shrinkage in length. I highly recommend line dry if you do not want these to shrink since they're cotton. I line dried and ironed with no problem. Would scoop up a pair in black too if they weren't sold out.

Nice, lined winter pants. The fit is a little off/ baggy in crotch. Im not sure if I will be keeping them. Otherwise, length is fine, they are comfortable, warm, very nice looking! Great color is easy to pair with just about any color shirt.

I recently bought the charcoal herringbone pants. They are flattering, comfortable and warm. They look like wool even though they feel a bit like flannel. I think they are misnamed "weekend pants" as for me, these will be for work, in lieu of a skirt, suit, dress or wool slacks. I love that they go in the washing machine. I am 5'6.5" tall and weight 145 lbs. I found the size 8 medium tall fit well. I am very pleased with the pants and recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SJLLBeanFan Best warm pants EVER - wtg for black size 10!
I have 2 pairs of the weekend pants (and you should change the name - I wear these to work during the week!): Hidden comfort waist in Black herringbone plaid, and regular waist in Camel. I have unsuccesfully been trying to find lined wool trousers for years. I can stop looking! These pants are warm, comfortable, and stylish. Hard to believe they are not wool! As soon as they become available again in Black size 10, I'll be ordering another pair.
