Rated 5 out of 5 by Oonagh Finally--shoes that fit
These are my first pair of Merrells--and they fit right out of the box. I wore them with medium weight socks to take a hike and had no rubbing or need to break them in. The sole grips rock faces and rubble and I felt secure. This style is thankfully plain--no stripes or other gewgaws--and since I often hike where it is dusty I am hoping the waterproofing will reduce dust in my socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bowzersof1 Excellent waterproof shoes; low cut
I purchased these shoes for my Daughter to wear to a very wet Red Sox game followed directly the next day by another wet day at Canobie Lake Park. Her feet were dry, comfortable and without blisters. Fortunately, she did not have any issues with blisters as she did not have time to break them in since they were a last minute purchase at our local LL Bean store. She tried on three models of waterproof shoes and chose this pair for the low cut, waterproofness and comfort of walking in them around the store in regular weight athletic socks. Perfect!!!!! Thank you LL Bean !!!

I bought the mids to replace a pair of Keens I've had for a few years. The Keens were perfectly waterproof, but I found that the heavier tread lug always seemed to make my feet incredibly sore and me more generally tired after hiking several miles. I wanted a mid that functioned like a trail sneaker, and these are spot on! I wore them minimally (commuting to and from the office twice) in Boston before taking them on their first trip-- hiking Tuckerman's Ravine to ski the bowl over Easter weekend. The trail ranged from snow pack, to slush, to snow melt streams and mud, and these did great; perfectly waterproof! Also my feet weren't the least bit sore, nor did I feel the heaviness that I usually did with my Keens.
I typically wear a size 8.5 (average arch and heel, wide forefoot-- bunions) and when I tried these on with a regular street sock an 8 felt right, but I knew I'd always want to hike in mid weight or heavy weight socks depending on the season, so I went with the 8.5 and they are perfect; just enough wiggle room in the toe box to keep things from feeling squished!
This is my first pair of Merrell's so I can't say I know what to expect in terms of longevity. But the comfort and waterproof factors alone has me considering buying a pair of the lows in the same style to double as sneakers for schlepping around Boston (since it seems to always be raining here, regardless of the season).
If you're looking for a new waterproof hiker that isn't a serious tread monster, this is your shoe ladies!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanMyFave Great looking shoe and a perfect fit!
My Merrell Grasshopper Low Sport Shoes arrived today, and they are probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever tried on! My feet are narrow. Many times my heels will ride up and down when I try on a pair of shoes, but not this time.
My ankles bone rests comfortably on the side, where the shoe is cut lower. The tongue is nicely attached to the shoe, so it doesn't slip around and slide to the side, which often happens when I wear sneakers. Even though these shoes fit my narrow feet perfectly, they are so easy to step into when I'm standing, and then I can just bend over to tighten the laces and tie them. My toes have plenty of room and do not feel cramped.
I'm wearing them with low cut, cushiony sport socks. My Grasshopper shoes fit great and look super! I recommend this color - pine. It's a nice shade of spring green.

I was looking for some waterproof tennies for the winter. I love the look of these, and they seem well made, but they are just too narrow for my feet. I sized up half a size and the length was okay but they were too tight. I have found this with other Merrell offerings as well.
If your feet run narrow, these will probably be perfect.
