I would not recommend these trousers for one simple reason. It is the WORST hemming job I have ever seen on a pair of trousers. I've ordered trousers from a variety of sources for years and always need them to be hemmed. Whoever hemmed this pair of trousers managed to "pucker" the fabric and it appears to be permanent. I'm retired and have little reason to wear dress slacks now but needed a new pair. Because of my years of dealing with LL Bean, which continues, I trusted that these trousers would do the trick. Material is ok, they wash up ok, but when they arrived the hem was very thick, like it had been doubled, and puckered as mentioned above. Thought the puckering would go away, but alas, after a year it still looks ridiculous, making me not want to wear them unless desperate. As a result, I have only worn them twice. Went to a local Men's Wearhouse earlier this week and purchased 2 pairs of dress slacks. At least I will know what I have when the tailoring is done. Should have sent these back to LLB but at the time, I mistakenly waited to the last minute of need and was in a pinch. Big mistake.

I was surprised to find the waistband closure is just a single simple button, without the extra buttoned inner tab that most quality dress pants have. The fabric seemed both flimsy and scratchy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JARinSeattle Great Pants but the hemming work quality was not
I love the pants and is planning to purchase another pair in a different color. BUT I requested to have my pant hemmed. The pants were hemmed at right length but They didn't iron the hem so the bottom of the pants looked like I just rolled the legs up to shorten them. The hemmed pants in the past (I have ordered many) had always been ironed flat at the bottom so I could just pull the brand new pants out of their shipping bags and put them and head out to door to work or out to town. But not these. Not sure if this is a trend? If so I will just have to be prepared to iron my pants when I receive them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RatingTheQuality I love these pants!
Material is smooth to the touch
Sufficient belt loops
Unexposed expansion tabs
Wrinkle free from the dryer so long as you pay attention
Looks good with sport coat, shirt and tie or a casual shirt
Gosh I miss my dry cleaner
Minor Negative Aspects (more to do with L.L. Bean than with the product)
I have never been able to order a black pair
Presently there are only 3 colors advertised
All the colors in all the sizes never seem to be in stock
Why not black, light gray, charcoal gray, dark brown, tan, khaki, taupe, blue, dark green, navy
On the good side L.L. Bean did finally start selling waist sizes less then 34 inches
I will write again after the pants have been washed another 50 times to tell you how they stand up to the washer, the dryer, and general wear and tear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DCBikeCommuter (Almost as) comfortable as my jeans
I have always reluctantly conformed to office dress code largely because I could never find trousers that were both appropriate and more importantly comfortable. Then I discovered these; solid material, great fit, straightforward design. I have rather solid thighs and calves which have often strained previous pants with an appropriate waist size. These fit extremely confortably with no binding around the thighs while sitting, drape well and, for me, have the preferred simplicity of a single button rather than the hook and button set up of many dress pants. I generally dry clean them but in extremis while traveling have machine washed them. They pack well, keep a crease, and iron easily when needed. All in all they have helped dramatically lessen my antipathy to the office dress code.

The pants fit great and look good; however the material feels slightly scratchy. As a result I returned the pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ellipsis Really Nice Product, Only.....
I wear Levi's 550 jeans with a 34W and 36" Inseam - that translates here to a 36"W and a 34-1/2" Inseam with these pants (no hassles from LLBean on making the returns, however). The fit otherwise is very nice through the hips and legs, etc. Just be aware that the numbers won't be what you expect.
I have these pants in every color and generally wear each 3-4 times per month (not quite once per week) and after a year they've all been holding up just fine (I did have to have one pair re-hemmed in the leg when the stitching loosened). More often than not, I'll have them dry-cleaned just because it looks much better, but I've also machine-washed (gentle cycle) a number of times and they hold up well except you have to iron them carefully.
Overall, I'm quite happy with this product...!

Rated 1 out of 5 by OleMissfan Alteration misfire
Had the pant length altered, and when the pants arrived, there was a two inch cut on the back. It appeared to have been made by a razor blade. I had a local tailor sew it, and because my belt hides the cut they are wearable. LL Bean offered to ship me a new pair of pants or pay for the repair if I sent in the receipt.
