Rated 4 out of 5 by scopes too firm for my neck
So the pillow seemed very high quality but I had tried to order using the website's suggestions for firmness
It was way too firm for me, my neck hurt so I exchanged for a softer version - I haven't received them yet!

A major investment but sleep is important. You will be pleased with the high rise pillow only be sure how much support you want. Medium is just right for back and side sleepers but will take a little time to get used to. For those that don't like loft, the 600 or 625 fill is better. Nothing like white goose down, nothing like the guarantee of L.L.Bean who provides it.

I bought this pillow for my wife. I wasn't sure if I should get a medium or soft. I purchased the medium and it is a little too full for her. However, I will use it instead and purchase another in soft. She loves it.

This is the pillow for me! It is very full which is why they say firm. Do not let that confuse you with hard. It just means it will support your head softly. Other down pillows, when you put your head on it, they sink down with no support. This is perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by marigoldcottage The BEST pillow!
I was needing new down pillows and took the plunge and ordered two of these, even though I have never spent this much on pillows for myself before. From the moment I put my head on one of them, I could hardly believe my good fortune at finding such a wonderful pillow. I ordered the medium fill and it is perfect for me. I sleep mainly on my side but occasionally sleep on my back due to chronic back pain and having had two spinal surgeries. My neck felt fully supported and the pillow was neither too soft nor too firm....just perfect! I woke up feeling better than I have in a long time and am so grateful to have found the right pillows for myself right away instead of having to try several and being dissatisfied. I am glad I went with my gut feeling and ordered my down pillows from LLBean, because I knew if they were not right I could return them and try another one. The quality is wonderful. If I could say only one negative thing it is that for such an expensive pillow, it seems that pillow protectors would be part of the package.
Some would consider these pillows a luxury item but in fact, a decent pillow is a necessity and I would without a doubt recommend these to anyone wanting a good night's sleep. My old down pillows (not from LLBean) were getting old and I was starting to get a numb arm from sleeping on my side and a sore neck. I have slept on down pillows since I was a child and I can say that these are the best I have ever had. So glad to have bought mine!! Yes they are expensive but I consider them to be an investment and are well worth the cost. I recommend getting standard size pillows as they are much nicer to sleep on than oversized king sized ones, you can adjust them to your head much easier.
Thank you LLBean, for offering such a high quality pillow!

Both the regular size soft and the queen size medium are excellent pillows. I have both on my bed. I have not had any problems with either one. They are very comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by PWCLover Great pillow - wish I had the right pillowcase
I read the reviews associated with this pillow. Quite a few reviewers indicated the soft was firm enough for their tastes so I decided to try the soft even though my preference is for a firmer pillow. I did not like it. While I feel the soft wasn?t a bad option as far as support, I felt it was too flat. There just wasn?t enough fill in it. So I ordered a medium and was much happier with it. It has more fill yet I didn?t feel it was too hard or stuffed. I am a petite person yet my head can make a nice indent in the pillow. But what I do like is that it is plumper.
I ordered the queen size and, like many of the other reviewers, do have a similar complaint of LL Bean: that they do not offer an appropriate sized pillowcase to hold their queen-sized pillows. I found that the pillow protector was fine. The zipper across the length instead of the width made it much easier to use. However the standard pillowcase is really not the right size. I was able to get the pillow into my sateen pillowcase but it was a tighter squeeze than I had with my previous queen-sized pillows. I don?t think it adversely affected the pillow, though. In other words, the tightness of the pillowcase did not compress the feathers and cause the pillow to become hard and un-fluffy.
The dimensions of the queen pillow are supposedly 20? x 30? ? yet the 2 inch gusset results in this pillow being bigger in the middle than the traditional ones. The standard pillowcases are 21? x 31?. These dimensions are not adequate for this queen-sized pillow. More width is needed; the length is definitely too short. If LL Bean wants to use one case for both standard and queen, they should extend the dimensions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Creellady Best pillow ever used!
I have purchased many pillows from LLBean. Some less expensive and not the quality/cost of the Sateen White Goose Down. I bought this pillow as a gift for my son. He is a large guy and needs something substantial. I actually tested all the pillows at the Freeport store before making my purchase online. My son likes a soft pillow but not too soft. He said, "It's the best pillow he ever used." Worth every penny to make a son happy!
