Rated 2 out of 5 by Steph87 I wanted to love these, but couldn't
I wanted to love these winter boots, but they are on their way back to LL Bean as I type this. These boots run big so order at least an entire size down. They are also very wide and clunky. Trying to walk in these throws off your natural gait. I will say that they are very warm and would be perfect for the winter, but they looked like moon boots on me!

I like this boots a lot! I ordered the pewter and looks very stylish with skin tight jeans. Wear it for sledding with medium weight socks and kept my toes warm. It is a little hard to get your foot out of the boots but that was not a deal breaker for me.
Unfortunately, the size is way too big for me. I normally wear a size 6-6/12 and as suggested ordered a size up. But size 7 was just way too big even with heavy weight socks. That's why I'm only giving it a 4*.
I got the Riverton Sneaker boots instead and was a perfect replacement!! More true to my foot size and incredibly warm and comfy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by dlanz not my best bean purchase...
I was VERY skeptical about ordering these boots after reading through every review... Im a size 8 and these boots were just too big and bulky. I felt like I was wearing snowboarding boots. They were extremely stiff and I felt like I had to stand with my legs leaning forward for them to fit comfortably... which was not comfortable at all! I wanted soooo badly to love these boots but I returned them because they weren't the right fit for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CherMA Love my new boots!
I usually wear size 10 but found like they were loose in the heel and when walking felt like I had someone else's boots on. Reordered them in the 9 and the fit is better. As you wear them the felt liner will pack down and the leather becomes softer and then they are perfect. Was looking at the sizing and according to the European sizing an American 10 is 40 which is what I usually take that is equivilant to the size 9 on the LLBean chart and that is why I decided to try the size 9.
Very happy with the size 9. Those who spoke of the fireman boots try downsizing and I'm sure you will love them . I have several LL Bean footwear and it seems that even though I usually wear a 10 in regular shoes, In.the LLBean shoes/boots I have to order their size 9. They always seem to run a size larger.

After reading some reviews saying they fit like firefighter boots, I was a little skeptical but ordered them anyway. They arrived quickly. When I tried them on they were so comfortable on my feet. While they are loose with regular socks, they fit great with my ski socks on. I can't wait to wear them snow tubing in California in a few weeks. I am pleasantly surprised, but I shouldn't be. LL Bean has never disappointed me.

These are wonderful, comfortable, warm, nice height for our snows, flexible enough for walking around. Hubby has lived in similar LLB men's boots for decades and I've not turned to the women's version until now largely because I thought the old chain sole pattern would not keep me stable on snow-pack/ ice, but that design has been updated to an incised surface that I think will do nicely. My old boots (sold through LLB but not their make) had a deep lug sole that I really liked in snow, but after only moderate wear the uppers delaminated (?) from the shoe so it was time for a change. I am grateful to customer service who advised my usual 8 to 8-1/2 should size up to a 9; I was a bit doubtful but that was solid advice, the fit is just loose enough to take a thicker sock and/or a small wad of lambswool in the toes on sub-0 days. I have great expectations that these will serve me long and well. HUGE sigh of relief :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by BKuz Warm, durable, & perfect for winter slow and slush
I purchased these boots just in time for the winter storm that hit us here in the East recently. These boots kept my feet warm and dry through the cold, wet, slushy mess! The quality surpassed my expectations. LL Bean boots are the only boots you should ever shop for when planning for rough winters. I wear a 9.5 shoe size (women's) and had to purchase size 10 as this product only came in whole sizes. Of course, they ran a bit big, but nothing a nice, thick sock couldn't support. Even though the boots are lined, the added room for sturdy socks adds more warmth--my feet can never be too warm!

I bought these boots months ago, back in November. I live in Michigan and winters can be all over the map, especially in recent years. I regularly am outside walking, waiting for buses, shoveling snow, etc. and I knew i needed to get boots that would last for at least a few seasons and would be able to keep my feet warm. They are quite stiff and clunky when fresh out of the box, but after wearing them for 2 weeks they were beautifully broken in and quite pleasant to move around in. I also have no problem driving in them (once they were broken in). They have managed to keep my feet warm so far and we've hit single digits. They lace tight enough that i can wear normal socks, but are roomy enough to wear thick hunting socks comfortably. Easy to put on, easy to lace, wonderful to wear, just make sure to give yourself enough time to break them in =)

Rated 3 out of 5 by Maxandmocha Warm but clunky
I bought these because my feet are always cold. They definitely keep my feet warm while out in the snow. The only thing is, they are quite large and clunky. I normally wear a 9 1/2 Wide so I ordered a size 10. The width is a good fit, but there is lots of extra length in the toe. I'm glad to have the warmth for recess duty and shoveling snow, but they are too stiff and clunky for everyday use such as shopping and running errands. So now I have just ordered snow sneakers for everyday use!
