Rated 4 out of 5 by MNAnnie Sturdy outdoor play shoe
Bought the gray and pink color for my 6 year old. She likes them, even though she is often picky about how shoes fit. They are sturdy and I think they will wear well. She's been wearing them only a few weeks, though. My one concern is the laces, which are less stretchy than other similar styles I've seen. My daughter likes to pull them very tight, which I worry will break them. There is not an obvious or convenient way to repair them, and of course the shoe would be useless without the laces.

Last year I bought one (the pruple one: periwinkle) for my girl, size 1 and very happy about my purchase. When I look for shoes, I look for the one that have support base, dont have to tight (I dont want the kids running around with the untight shoes), and have a cover at the part around the toes (I dont know about other kids, but mine, she always run with the toe come down so this part of the shoe always go bad first just after a few weeks). This shoes got all the things I want, and my girl loves this, she said inside this so soft and comfortable. She wore that all the late fall and winter last year, everyday to school, and this year I've just order a bigger one for her. The lace from the old one did broken, right at the time we need to replace a new one so I think that's find, otherwise the shoes still in good condition. I dont know about the string and the lace of the new one yet, but right now, she's happy with the new one!

My daughter loves these shoes. She has not worn them outside because she wants to wear them all of the time in the house. The fit is perfect, the colors are cute and she finds them very comfortable. I am guessing when the snow thaws she will be wearing them to school everyday.

Rated 3 out of 5 by tacimat1 great shoes; bad laces
The shoes fit great and are durable but the laces fray and snap at the top. This is the 3rd pair I have purchased and I always have to return them and have them replaced. I just don't want to go through the hassle anymore. Too bad. I was hoping the problem would have been resolved because I see that I am not the only customer with this issue. It happened with the same model that I bought for my son too.

These are great shoes. Very comfortable, true to size. Easy on and off.
Note: The pink is slightly darker in person than the color in pictures.

I bought a purple pair for my 9 years old daughter in early September. It is really pretty, but unfortunately it already has two wholes near toe area. My daughter only wears it two or three times a week. I wish that it made last longer. Usually LLBbean products last pretty long.

Love these shoes for my 5 year old daughter. Bought them last fall and the fit and style was great but within 3 weeks one of the laces broke. LLBean was great and sent another pair and I sent back the old ones. After wearing the new ones for a short time a lace broke again. I didn't want to bother with sending them back again so tied the broken lace which lasted for awhile and now the lace on the other shoe just broke! I love LLBean and these shoes, but can you please do something about the laces? I'd order another pair if I knew they would hold up.

Have been buying these shoes for my daughter for 5 years- they were great once, now the laces break and cannot be easily replaced. She has had 3 pairs that have broken after very little use. Despite all of the things that are great about these shoes- water resistant, comfortable, a little wide, I will not bother with them again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Menion1998 Shoestrings break - makes shoes unwearable
Ok, you would think "just replace the shoestring" right? No, the shoestrings in these shoes are sewn in. You can't just replace them. I bought a pair a while back and LL Bean replaced them when the first shoe string broke. The same thing happened with the second pair. The strings broke. My kid has worn these shoes for less then 3 weeks to school. I have tried replacing these with little luck. The eyelet is too small for regular strings. My husband took a drill to them to enlarge the eyelet JUST SO I CAN PUT REGULAR STRINGS IN THEM. This should NOT be necessary. The shoe itself is just fine. The method of shoelace is the killer.
