Rated 3 out of 5 Great Shoe - Can't Replace Laces
Bought these for my three year old. He wore them every day at school from August to March but then the lace broke. Since the shoe is still (surprisingly) in great shape, I went to replace the laces. They are tacked down and you have to cut them and sort of rig something up. LL Bean did stand by the product, however, and offered to replace them. I just wish the laces held up or were easily replaceable so a perfectly good pair of shoes didn't have to go in the trash.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SWSunshine Great shoe... made worthless by poor bungee laces
This is a redundant review as we, unfortunately, are experiencing what everyone else has... I ordered two pair of shoes for my boys. The shoes have been fabulous in years past. But, two months later I have two worthless pairs of shoes because their laces are broken. I wouldn't recommend buying until they overhaul these shoes and go back to their original lace provider or design.

I have been buying these shoes since my children started school. They are now in 3rd and 5th grade and I continue to buy these shoes. They are durable, comfortable, and easy to wash. I was a little disappointed this time, to find the toes of the shoe with less trend covering toes. My son is rough on his shoes. He had them only a week and I noticed the trend on the front of the shoe was already worn. In the past it seems as if the trend covering the toes were thicker. Will continue to buy this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SD814 LOVE the shoe - but lace is TERRIBLE
I know this seems odd to give it a 1 and then say that I love the shoe, but it's true. This sneaker is great - but I just packed up three pairs to send back to the return department because I've been exchanging these mocs over and over for over a year because the lace breaks within weeks of wearing. Bean's customer service has always been great in sending out a new pair, but I'm pretty sure this would be our 6th or 7th swap out because of the laces. The rest of the shoe has a lot of life left in them, but they become un-wearable once that lace goes. I've tried tying them into knots just so my kids could keep wearing them, but that gets in the way of that little button type slide clip (not sure what the official name of that is!# So as much as I dislike giving anything from LL Bean such a low rating - it's a defective part that needs to be addressed asap. I'm not sure why it has not been reworked after I'm seeing that we are not the only ones with the lace problem. I'm asking for a refund rather than an exchange this time because it's just like we are going in circles. New shoe, broken lace. Repeat. :-#

Rated 3 out of 5 by MyKidsDad18 Good Shoe, Bad Laces (2014)
This is basically a great shoe. Fit my son well. Comfortable. He likes it. Good tread. Seems durable. Would have given it 4 or 5 stars, BUT - very bad laces (which are sewn in and can't be easily replaced). I read the reviews and would not have ordered the shoe, but the product description said that it had been redesigned to be more durable based on customer reviews - that was enough for me, so I ordered it (in February 2014). The laces broke after about 6 weeks of my son wearing the shoes. So I bought a new pair of laces because that seemed to be the easiest thing to do. Turns out the laces are sewn in and you can't just take the old ones out and put new ones in. All that said, LL Bean customer service was great, as usual, and they are replacing the shoes at no charge. Hopefully the next pair will actually be redesigned!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jeeden Yes, Lace problems this year
As mentioned below, there seems to be a lace problem this year. I have ordered these for my kids year after year and the shoes are great. This year, the laces aren't true "shock cord" that stretches. The cords also seem to be thinner. The old pair that was 16 months old finally had the laces wear and they outgrew them...no problem. The new pair both my 4 and 6 year old wore for 3 weeks and then the laces both broke in the same location near the top eye. Of course Bean exchanged them without question at their Tyson's store. Associate there said they had complaints about the lack of stretch laces. We had the new pair for a day, two wearings and then my boy's lace popped in the same location near the top eye. I called bean and they are exchanging again and promised to escalate the issue. I think they may have gotten a bad/cheap/other set of laces this year. I hate to think the product would get a bad rep because of it because they are so much better than cheap stuff you will find in the mall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RiRi81 Great in every way!
I purchased these for my 8 year old son because he has autism and his shoes were always coming untied. We have owned them for 8 months and they still look brand new! He loves them because they are comfy and easy to put on and take off. They have great traction as well. I would highly recommend to any mom!

Rated 1 out of 5 by TheTornadoBrothers Lace Problems
The shoes fit perfectly and were extremely easy to get on and off.
Unfortunately, the laces lasted only a month and could not be replaced. You were wonderful about replacing the shoes entirely, but The Tornado Brothers are already giving the new laces a workout. The rest of the shoe held up and is holding up extremely well. If there were just some way to replace the laces, they would be perfect shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 59Beaner Great durability
This is the 3rd time I've ordered this sneaker for my Grandson. He loves them and they have lasted till he has grown out of them. The only thing he was upset about is instead of green lacing there is blue. He is still wearing the size 13. He hasn't put on the size 1's I ordered just yet. I really hope these last as well as the last 2 pairs. He wears them every day at school. They have been an excellent choice.
