Rated 5 out of 5 by Kpswife Can't find a tougher shoe for kids
My son is tough on shoes, he never stops moving. We have run the toes off several pair in under a month. Not these shoes though. These are amazing! Cute, comfy and he can put on all by himself. They stay good looking after multiple washes, trips hunting and biking and hiking and just being a boy. My only issues is that the laces have broken and they are not easily replaced since they are sewn onto the shoe. That is the only con on this shoe. They are awesome!

Just as other purchasers have said, the laces on these shoes aren't good--there is no stretch to them; they broke after only 4 months! There is no way to replace the laces, which are sewn in, so these are going back for an exchange.
All other aspects of this shoe are great.

I bought a pair of these for my daughter and for my son in January 2014 - so they're going on a year old. I read about the problem with the laces, but we haven't had any problems at all. My kids use them primarily when we go hiking or camping - they do not wear them for every day use. We're washed them in the washing machine several times and they clean up nicely. We really haven't had any problems with them at all and I recommend them.

We have had these sneakers for over a year now. Awesome shoe! Durable and well made. My son loves them. I am going to order the exact same one, one size up.

Son can't open the shoe up to put his foot in. We miss the old stretchy lace style!

Rated 2 out of 5 by harmony451 laces are a bust
We are loyal LL Bean customers and will continue to be, but these shoes are a bust. My son loved the way these shoes fit, but within just a couple of months the laces broke. As promised, we were issued a replacement at no charge, but sadly the same thing happened. Since the laces are sewn in, you can't replace them which is such a bummer. We'll have to find a different pair of shoes for our kiddo till LL Bean can get the issue fixed. Hopefully it will be by next school year because the shoes themselves fit really well and my son said they were super comfortable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mamatwoboys 2 mos laces broke!
I read the warnings on the reviews and told my son "DO NOT touch the laces-let me set them to where you want and just slip your foot in" (his were a bit too big on him). Still after 2 mos when he was just straightening one out it snapped. They really should stop selling these shoes until they replace the laces with sturdy thick ones.

I should have heeded the many warnings found in the reviews for this shoe. Like others, we have been buying the LL Bean Mocs for our kids for several years now. The previous generation of Mocs were extremely durable and outlasted anything our two boys could throw at them. The older style used a stretchy bungee-style lace that were quite durable.
Not so the new style non-stretchy laces. The laces broke on one pair of Mocs during the second week of use. No abuse or extra wear - they just snapped during regular use.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Don't buy these until LL Bean has fixed the poor quality lace issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TheBlankspace Great shoes, but please fix the laces!
My son has insisted on wearing only these shoes since I first bought him a pair to start Kindergarten. He is now in the third grade and still loves them, but they barely make it through the school year before the laces break! Please, please, please, fix the problem with the laces. The shoes themselves have held up very well and are reasonably-priced.

I'd purchased these for my then 5 year old son & loved them. When the laces snapped, LL Bean quickly replaced them with the next size up. Unfortunately, the replacement laces snapped as well. He found them comfortable but I just can't see trying again. We'll probably go with the Comfort moc this year instead - no laces to snap although he isn't thrilled with the color selection.
