Rated 5 out of 5 by ABCD Great for Cross Country Skiing
I bought these for my daughter, and although she has other pants she wears in the winter, these immediately became her favorite. She mainly wears them for cross country skiing, but has also been wearing them to walk around college campus in central Wisconsin. They are warm and provide great ease of movement. They do run small so I went up one size and that fit her perfectly. Very nice performance pant.

I am a rower and I have been looking long and hard for a tight that is suitable for those early morning training sessions when the temperatures dip below freezing and staying warm and dry in a water sport is almost impossible. When I saw these tights I was a little dubious, but am so glad I tried them. They are fantastic - well made, very comfortable, allow unrestricted movement and leg compression that rowing requires, don't ride up at the ankle or waist and don't fall down at the waist either thanks to the handy drawstring. This winter they have been my favourite bit of kit to train in - the nicest feature is that they are quite water resistant, even when freezing water splashes in the boat, I hardly notice and my legs stayed nice and warm when I was waiting at the top of the river for over an hour in wind, rain, temperature just above freezing...waiting for a race to start!!
Ultimately, are they up to "sub-zero" standard in Fahrenheit? No, definitely not. I think they would be great for any mid-heavy cardiovascular work (eg nordic skiing, running) in temps down to 20F - if it was really windy you'd want something wind resistant on top. If you're just doing light cardio (eg snowshoeing on flat terrain) you'd definitely want another layer if you were much below 30F. Overall though, a great tight and I'd highly recommend them but make sure you get the right size based on other reviews.
I didn't have any of the sizing issues that others have had. My waist size is 31", I ordered a large based on the size chart and was very happy with the fit. For reference, I'm 5' 8", 160lbs and athletic but a bit "bottom heavy".

Holy girdle Batgirl! I ordered a medium based on measurements. While I could get them on, it was so not comfortable. LLBean customer service was beyond awesome in exchanging them for a large for me. Took them for a 4 mile run this morn. It was about 24 degrees and windy. I put a pair of thermal running pants over them, and grateful I did! Subzero these are not.. They are very comfortable in the larger size tho kinda big at the waist, and very well made. I was just hoping there truly was a tight out there that could handle the job solo. These do not block the wind. For sizing reference, I am 5'7" 145lbs with an athletic build. I wear a 6/8 in pants.

I found the size medium to be too long for me. I was disappointed. Nevertheless, they are warmer than expected.

Just purchased the Sugoi subzero tights for outdoor sports when my ski pants are too heavy and they work very well for temperatures that hover around the 20's and 30's. They are a snug true to size fit. I purchased a medium (5'5" 128lbs.). They have a warm light fleece like backing lining them for warmth. You may want to layer them for extra warmth, but with the snug fit you would have to go up a size. I am sticking to use them for warmer days without an added layer as that is more comfortable. They fit like a biking tight with a heavier weight. They are good for those days when you know you can get away without bulking up, but you still want to get out for a winter hike, run, cross country ski, skate, or other activity. I love them.

The name Subzero is extremely misleading. Upon arrival I put these on and went to stand on my balcony to see if I was warm enough in my outfit to go for a run (I live in the DC area). I was FREEZING and the temp was only in the high 30s/low 40s. These are way too thin and there's hardly any layer of fleece so do not bother buying these if you are using them for winter. They are being returned ASAP.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sazzia Warm but fit is snug
I'm 5'6" 135 lbs and after double-checking with the Sugoi website, ordered a size Medium. Glad I did, because the fit is definitely snug if you have an athletic or curvy lower half. My measurements are technically smaller than what both this site and Sugoi's list, but after reading comments I sized up, and am glad I did. I could probably even go with a Large (and normally I am a 4/6 in standard pants). That being said, these are great in cold weather. Straight out the door you feel a bit of the wind and chill (as expected) but once you get going and get warmed up, your legs do not go numb! If you're leisurely walking your dogs you'll want something heavier-duty, but if you're out there for cardio, you'll be fine. Recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Artyogi Comfortable, warm, but just a hair snug!
These are a wonderful buy! Very warm and soft inside, and fit tight to stay in place. Can be layered to fit under pants, which is handy. Great for indoor/outdoor activities such as yoga, hiking, yard work, also looks nice with a high or low boot. The only thing I would say is maybe order a size up if you want them a little more comfortable, because the waist band can be tight around the belly region. Can't wait to try them this winter skiing!

Rated 2 out of 5 by SLNewYork Comfortable not warm
I wrote a review yesterday, this is an update. Over the last few years, LL Bean products have stopped matching their description (I've had to return or exchange more than I've kept) and this is another one of them. The one positive is these leggings are very comfortable. I am 5' 5", 138lbs and normally wear a size 8. I bought a large in case I needed to put a layer underneath in very cold weather. They fit fine since they are stretchy. I wore them alone for the first time in 40 degrees figuring that a product called "Sub Zero" would be warm enough. Not even close. I was freezing cold. I tried them again the next day in 30 degree weather, this time with a layer of long underwear. I was so painfully cold I had to turn around halfway through my five mile walk to go home and change into something else. I put on my 20-year-old LL Bean leggings, which are worn and have stirrups that I don't like and I was both warm and comfortable. LL Bean: You need to do something about your products' quality and reliability. These are going back.
