I received this sweater last week and have worn it everyday since. It's absolutely perfect. After reading the other reviews, I ordered up one size and it fits perfectly. It is so nice and warm yet it's not heavy. Here in upstate NY with this winter weather that won't stop, it's kept me warm and toasty. I love the fact that the sleeves aren't super long or the length. I'm short and it comes to the exact length I like. Not much for those long sweaters that you have to flip up before you can sit so you don't sit on it. It's super soft and of good quality. My only problem? Which other color am I going to get next?

I've had 2 of these about 5 years, and loved them to death. I've washed them in the machine so many times that now they're too pilled even for casual Maine!
I bought 2 new ones, and they're more stylish--bigger buttons and ribbing at the shoulder look good--but thinner. The fabric content is the same, though. I'm not sure they'll be quite as warm, but I like them so much I'll keep them! I would wash them by hand to keep them looking good longer.

Just tried on this sweater in dark brown, which came today. I'll be wearing it over a denim shirt, just as the model is in the photo. Some of the reviews said it runs small, which I find it does. I ordered it one size larger, in an XL, and it fits perfectly buttoned up over the denim shirt. I'm 5'8", 155 lbs. I'll likely buy another one. The fabric is cozy and might be itchy if worn in contact with the skin, so I recommend wearing it with a collared shirt.

But scratchy unfortunately, so will return. Really nice looking sweater though--especially like the shawl collar.

I really like this sweater, but it runs small. I returned it for a larger size. It's especially great because the top turns down to make an attractive collar.

Very nice sweater. It is form fitting, and I found it to run on the small size. I had to order up to an XL (and I am a medium) in order to get it big enough so I could fit a turtleneck or T-shirt underneath. I probably could have gotten away with a large, but I don't like wearing clothes that are too form fitting/tight. Overall a great sweater that seems to be holding up nicely so far.

This sweater was a gift to my mom last Christmas. She loves it, wears it everywhere she goes, and receives compliments on it often. In fact, I ordered her one in another color for this Christmas and she was thrilled!

So happy this sweater is available again! My favorite. I still have my old one but it was time for a new one. A 20 something girl at the store the other day recognized it as her favorite sweater too. She said she loved hers and a friend borrowed it years ago and she never saw it again. A must have.

I wore my swift river sweater for the first time the other day and love it. It's comfortable, good fitting and can be dressed up or down depending on your style. This is the fourth swift river in my collection and I know I'll be purchasing another one. A few years back LL Bean had a green one. I was slow in ordering and by the time I did they were out of my size. I hope they consider bringing it back next season.

The big improvement consists in making the sweater smaller; namely, shorter, with a smaller collar. Last year's was something out of history, cape or smock-like, and unappealing after a few wears. One thing they might have kept is some semblance of the cable pattern, which they dispensed with completely. The colors this year are darker and earthier, which is ok for a winter sweater. All in all a keeper, warm and light.
