Size large fits like a medium - and it's too fitted to wear open, over a tank or tee. Also, there's too much fabric under the arms (another review also mentioned this), so it sort of balloons out at the underarms.
This shirt doesn't fit the same as my other L.L. Bean shirts. Am returning it & won't order another. Love my other Bean shirts, this is the first one in 20 years with a poor fit.

I bought the Ayrshire tartan ( I live in Ayrshire Scotland & had to have it!) It has lovely purple & green tartan colors. I wear it layered over an LL Bean T shirt in purple or green with some green jeans & it looks great. I don't think this shirt will ever wrinkle & the colors stay fast through washing.
I also bought the blue and strawberry tartan shirt to wear over blue jeans & it looks terrific as well.

I just LOVE this blouse! It looks so fresh and crisp -- I got the aqua colored on (forget what L.L. Bean calls it!), and it's so bright and cheery. The fit is pretty true-to-size, and it fits well with a bit of stretch to the fabric. So perfect for Spring and cooler days of Summer!

I purchased this shirt and was amazed at its fit, fabric and design. You can't beat the quality of this shirt. I'm 5' 4" and 135 lbs. I purchased the Farquharson in size medium. The shirt collar is perfect for those of us who like our collars to stand up. Pair with jeans, khaki's or slacks for any occasion. I'm back to order a second shirt in a different color.

The material is nice and smooth. Stands up to multiple washings without ironing. (Must be removed from dryer immediately and hung for the best effect) I love the coloring and style.

I have the red plaid in this shirt, very nice color and fit. It looks great with jeans or nice slacks. It fits very nicely and the buttons are in the right places! I may order another one in a different color.

Loved the color and fabric of this shirt but the XS fits like a Small, very blousy. Customer Service was great helping me and I learned that a Petite would only have shorter sleeves, not an overall smaller fit. Even with back darts this is not a slightly fitted shirt. So very sad I have to return it. Please LL Bean, thin people want to wear your clothes too!

I recently received this shirt in the floral pattern, and am very pleased with it. The colors are more vibrant than in the catalog or online. At 5'8" 155 lbs., a large fits just right.

You will not be disappointed with this shirt! I bought 2 of them because the fit is so comfortable. They wash very well and truely do not need to be ironed. The colors are rich and exciting.
