Rated 5 out of 5 by NatzO Great Winter Jacket
I just received my Rangeley 3-in-1 jacket and everyone concerned about this jacket being to large are wrong. I ordered a Regular Large and it is just the right fit around my arms for a base layer (Mid) and a normal winter shirt. I talked to customer service and Norma was very helpful in sizing the jacket just right. I am 6ft tall and 210 pounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mosey Everything as advertised and more
Definitely runs large. My husband usually wears a large. We had to send it back & get a medium (no problem). I think this coat will last him the rest of his life, it is SO sturdy! And the coat liner is a GOOD looking coat in itself.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Sharkskin Size Disaster (part 2)
Unlike some others I found this jacket way too tight in the chest and under the arms and too big in the waist and stomach area. I'm 5 foot 9 and weigh 225lbs. and stocky. Also, the lining in the sleeves make it difficult to take on and off. I went up in size only to find the sleeves too long and the shoulders droopy. A real shame since I really wanted this jacket.

This is a fantastic jacket, and I love everything about it - except for the fact that I can't wear it. The size "small" is so enormous that I could wrap it twice around myself. I know that it is described as "relaxed fit," but the size of this thing is ridiculous. Granted, I am slim/scrawny/slender (5'10 and 145 lbs), but I'm tall enough and have decently wide shoulders, and this jacket absolutely swamps me. I will be sending it back. I BEG Bean to make a slim-cut line or at least offer some of its clothing in XS!
PS - I looked in the boys section for a jacket, but sadly none of them have features anything like the 3-1, ventilation, colors, fabric, etc, that make this jacket so great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by PaulBinSC Very disappointing jacket
Was looking for a warm and waterproof jacket for walking my dog and the Rangeley seemed to fill the bill. I will say that it's very well made but, in addition to being heavy and stiff, it felt quite tight in the sleeves even with just a thin shirt under it. I don't have muscular arms, so that was particularly surprising. I've purchased several jackets and sweaters from LL Bean in the past few years and this was the first to disappoint me. In retrospect, I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. At any rate, it's now on it's way back to Maine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Highlander2 Snap problem
I ordered this parka not knowing what to expect from online clothing since I am a risk-averse and would love to try before buy, especially in terms of clothing. I decided to go for it because I enjoyed other LL Bean clothing items bought from stores (where you can try and check for issues). The color is exactly as in the picture. This parka is heavy (underline heavy). It has tones of zippers, snaps, and pockets. It's an open-source of parkas - you can adjust it the way you want. Luckily, the size was the right one for me. I encountered one problem due to low quality control at the assembly line in Thailand: the lower snap (more exactly the male part of the snap) on the left side from the skirt (illustrated in the picture 5 of 6) is defective. It simply pulled-off from its holding part that is fixed inside the shell material. It leaves now a cutting small metal part outside of the shell, which cannot be extracted. I would live without that snap having no problem, taking into account that there is another snap on that side to hold the skirt to the shell, but I will try to figure out a solution how to extract the remaining of the male snap from within the shell, in order not to give it time to tear off the shell material (because it can literally cut). From what I have seen, the male part of the snap was pressed defectively, and because the employee from the assembly line did not pay attention, it simply did not fix well. Lucky me, I had one in a million chance to receive exactly that parka, and I used that "lucky card". Should I spend time and money to send the parka back? What if I am "lucky" again? Probably I will keep it and live with it.
Check well all the zippers and snaps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SPECLED nice coat
I just received my coat today and tried it on. Nice coat. Fits well. I'm 5"10 175lbs 33in arm. Without the liner the sleeves are long but they cuff back or you can use the velcro to hold them up. There are more pockets that I can count! The liner jacket is really nice by itself. Probably keep you warm into the 40's. Hood does zip off which is good because I'm not a hood guy. The only question I have is, if you look at picture 5/6 it shows a zip out in the lower back. Anyone know what it is or why I'd zip that part out?

Rated 5 out of 5 by ARayn Extremely Nice Coat
I like to think of this jacket as the mid-weight version of my Maine Warden Coat. Same great quality, tons of pockets and features galore -- just a tad less bulk. Not rated with same temperature threshold as the Warden, but this will be plenty warm enough during the cold Upstate NY days in the mountains especially with the shearling liner jacket.
My only real "disappointment" is lack of color choice, other than that it's a great choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Illinois1974 Really is 3-in-1
The shell and the liner really do function and look like separate coats for different (late autumn, mild winter) purposes. Put them together, and the result is a heavy and snug coat for deep winter. The combo could almost do with a user's manual. The fastenings of the two are not simple but are well thought out. I have found twelve pockets between the two parts so far. Zippers everywhere. The exception to being well thought out is the hood. (Hence my 4-stars, not 5.) The adjustments are, to my mind, clumsy and hard to do on the run. Also, when the hood is tightened so it doesn't flop over the face, the hood back bunches up with a silly-looking, bunchy result like a badly-made bed. Still, I like the looks otherwise. In function it seems likely to give three kinds of coat comfort for the price of about two ordinary ones.
