Rated 3 out of 5 by gwamma too large, needs better zipper
Just got this jacket in the mail. Quick delivery! I am a size 10 on top but 12/14 on bottom. I usually find jackets too tight around hips, ordered a Large Petite and jacket is too big, plenty of room at the hips. Also a better quality zipper would be better, did not zip easily. Will be returning!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kailynn Finally no excuses! :-(
I'm trying to increase my cardio stamina so I've taken to walking every day. In the past I haven't been able to stay motivated because it's either: too cold or too windy or raining [or 10,000 other excuses]. I just never seem to have the right gear for all the different conditions. Well - I do now! This jacket eliminates any excuse I can ever come up with [the dumb thing!!]! It's warm without being bulky, waterproof without being too "plastic" sounding, wind-proof [hood up or hood down] - you name it! Love the inside pocket, love the zippered side pockets, love the flexible hood [I can make it tighter is the conditions are nasty]. I could just go on and on - I LOVE it! Insulated Rain Jacket - where have you been all my life?!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by pghgolfgirl Perfect for a November Ireland Trip
I bought this rain jacket for a November trip to Ireland. I knew that I needed a jacket with some insulation, waterproof and windproof, and I wanted a hood. This fit the bill exactly! I ordered my usual size and it was roomy enough to fit sweaters underneath without feeling constricted. My only complaint - and it's more of a suggestion, really - is that the jacket be made a couple inches longer for better coverage. I bought black because the thought the other colors were too trendy, so I would appreciate this coming in more "neutral" colors, such as navy, wine and dark olive green. I also really liked the inside zip pocket (perfect for cell phone) and the inside "net pocket", although I would have preferred it being zippered rather than an open top. This is a very good jacket for traveling and I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by flash37 Just what I needed.
This jacket is the best between seasons jacket I've ever had. First of all, it fits someone who is no longer sporting a svelt figure. I ordered a size large, my usual and I can put a fleece or down vest under it. The hood is adjustable so if I want it to stay up in wind, it will. Best of all, it's rain proof and covers the back porch if ya know what I mean. What an improvement over the "fitted" short jackets sold everywhere. Cold trumps style when you get to my age. Also, since it is smooth, no fleece, your arms slide right in and don't catch on a rug like texture.
You will notice it's sold out in two colors. LL, how about more colors for next year. Black is just OK. Would love to have a mushroom or stone color. Some of us are a little past BRIGHT! Thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LinusLucyOscar Good jacket but too lightweight for what I wanted
I am reluctantly returning this jacket. It is a good jacket but is not what I was looking for. I should have read the description more carefully. When it says "lightly insulated" it truly is lightly insulated. For some time I have been looking to replace the best jacket ever, which was made by LLBean 12 or so years ago. It is a Gore-Tex insulated jacket but the insulation is medium-weight Prima down. This jacket is exactly the same design as the old one, , which is probably what made me think it would be heavier insulation. But the "insulation" is only a thin layer of polyester. That's fine if that's what you're after but I was looking for something warmer while also waterproof as the effectiveness of the gore text on the current jacket is starting to fade.
Please LLBean - consider bringing back a waterproof down-insulated jacket!

Rated 3 out of 5 by 49er Very nice jacket, but...
Fits great with thin layer (tee shirt), but will not take layers if you plan to wear in cold blustery weather. Pulls slightly across the upper back, sleeves a bit narrow, but not as bad as previous stylings. I'm an active person and being able to move in jackets is necessary. Very well-constructed, waterproof zipper, hood not too big nor too small. Tiny-waffle weave. It is a beautifully made outdoor jacket.
WIsh I could keep it, but unfortunately will need to return. I'm a standard size 14, but having to order a size larger just to accommodate layers, is getting tiring, and the thought of a size XL-18 is off-putting.

Like a previous reviewer, I have been searching for a long while for the perfect everyday fall and winter jacket. Something not too heavy, so that I don't bake in heated stores while doing errands, but with enough insulation that it can handle the cold. I have many fleece jackets that could satisfy those requirements, but I also wanted a waterproof jacket. And it had to have pockets!!
I previously had a black women's Warm Up jacket. It was quick on and off, relatively water and wind resistant, but the wrists were too tight (no stretch) and it just wasn't warm in temps lower than 40 degrees.
I ordered the Insulated Rain Jacket during a sale in the teal and the black. After reading the reviews, I decided to size up from my usual true XS to a S, which turned out to be a perfect idea to allow for light to moderate layering. The jacket seemed so light and thin, that at first I didn't expect it to be very warm. When I stepped outside into a windy below 30 degree day, I realized just how warm and comfortable this jacket was. The line of the jacket is longer and lean, but allows for female curves. I have had waterproof zippers before and know that they are thin and flat, but this one works smoothly if it is treated just a bit gently. The 2 zip hand warmer pockets are a generous size and perfect location. There is an internal zip pocket at chest level that is great for mobile phones. The hem and hood both have easily adjustable toggles.
This jacket is just what I have been looking for. I was going to decide to keep either the black or teal, but will keep both as this jacket is superlight, waterproof, and very warm. Great combo of features, even though the original price seemed a bit high to me.
They are on sale now, and if you have been looking for the perfect everyday outerwear, then you should try this jacket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MelbaToasty Worst zipper construction ever, jacket lasted 3hrs
Can't believe how awful this jacket is. I just bought it online, it lasted about 3 hours in completely normal conditions and a single on/off session before the zipper broke off in my hand. The way the zipper is constructed is the flimsiest I've ever seen. Pretty disappointed to have to return it but I'd never buy this jacket again unless it was a new model with a completely different zip construction. Also, the hood is on the small side.

Perfect true to fit size; gorgeous raspberry color; just the right amount of insulation for a damp day in Europe. Sleeves are the correct length as is the body of the jacket. As usual, a great product from a great company...and fast delivery!

I can go on writing but to summarize in one sentence - If you can only have ONE jacket, get this one period
I have been looking for this kind of jacket for many many years. This one satisfies all my quirky requirements.
- Waterproof yet not plasticy or rubbery.
- Has hood that is not huge. Actually fits an avarage human head.
- Light insulation NO bulk.
- Exceptionally windproof.
Overall... just right!! Thanks LLB.
