I wore this jacket this past ski season. SOOOOO "Wicked" warm! Very comfortable, great hood which (comfortably) fits over a ski helmet for extra insulation and warmth. Possibly NOT the most attractive jacket, in the bright bile shade of green, but for sure, I was very easy for my family to spot in the snow, and I kind of like the shade! True to size- I am 5'7", weigh about 125, and was very comfortable in the Small, with multiple layers beneath. Being from the South, I'm not particularly tolerant of very cold, snowy conditions. This very water resistant, down packed, a little longer than customary, hood (albeit thin) included wonder has been a true blessing for me! I can play in the snow for hours. The sac that comes with it is a bonus. Great way to pack this bulky jacket and keep it small and serves as a nice pillow, too! Washes and dries beautifully (you can skip the tennis ball trick- totally unnecessary). Great, excellent, life improving product!!!! Absolutely no reservations about recommending it.

The women's Ascent Windstopper Down Jacket was perfect in the -40 F wind chill of Churchill, Manitoba and in the wind of Winnipeg. It was compressible and easy to pack in its own stuff sack in my carry-on backpack. It was even toasty warm in the dark cold of night when I wore it to watch the Aurora Borealis. With the hood up, I was warm and comfortable even when I was riding on a snow machine or a dog sled.

I was very excited to get my jacket so quickly - ordered on Saturday night after a cold skiing trip and received it today - Tuesday. The size was perfect. I ordered a Large and I am 5'10" 180 lbs with broad shoulders. The length is great - good coverage standing or sitting. I haven't used it on the slopes yet of course (just got it) but so far very happy with it. Very light. I love the fun color too!

I wore this coat to shovel today before the winds really picked up. It was 10 degrees and the winds were probably gusting to 15 mph. Beneath the coat I wore a power fleece shirt. I was toasty warm. I love the hood that covers much of the face when zipped up to help stop frostbite. Believe me, I want warmth when I'm outside and I know the importance of protecting yourself in the elements. I live in Minnesota. Down is my first choice in a coat. This Ascent Windstopper down jacket seems to really meet my needs. Well constructed, and warm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by pickaname Fine except for the hood
I bought this "extra" down jacket specifically for the hood...my other down jackets don't have hoods and I always missed that when I wore them.
But the hood on this otherwise nice jacket is horrible.
When you cinch it at all, the first thing it does is lower down into your face...to your brows. If you're wearing glasses, as I do, or goggles, it will annoy you the entire time you're wearing it. And you have to cinch it a lot before you get any ear protection at all since it seems to want to stick out at the sides of your head....which means it's all the way down to your brows. It has a bit of a visor flap built in that really needs to be flipped up or else it will totally block your vision if it's at all cinched.
This hood will be used by myself only as an uncinched on/off wind blocking #wind from behind# hood over whatever cap I already have on. In other words, practically never.

This jacket was received in record time, even during the Xmas holiday. It is very warm, and it does cut the wind nicely, as advertised. I also like that I can wear a decent layer underneath it. What is the use of a winter jacket if you cannot wear a bulky under layer at times. My minor complaints are this: there are no hand warmers in the sleeve, it zips on the reverse side, and it would be nice to have an external chest pocket. The small extras would be appreciated, considering the high price for the jacket. But overall, very happy with the purchase.

This jacket has been everything I expected and more. I bought it to walk my dog in the winter months now. I know that it has only been 1 month of winter so far, but I am very satisfied with my purchase

by DangerDog Warm, with the right details
My partner is usually cold so it is a challenge to keep her warm. This does the trick. Also, we both appreciate how all of the details are carefully and thoughtfully accomplished with no extra useless flourishes. Parka is very light and well constructed.

I purchased this coat because of the walk into work. It is not very long but there can be high winds and bitter temps. The coat has lived up to it's warmth and blocks the wind well. I am only 5'3" and curvy. I bought a large because that was what my last non-LLBean jacket was. It is a little big in the waist and hips, but I am able to layer without being uncomfortable. I love the adjustable hood, which has great coverage. I can't wait to wear it snowshoeing. I highly recommend this jacket.
