Rated 2 out of 5 by Sherman89 Disappointed
As the title says, I was disappointed with this product. This is because after my first trip with these newly acquired pullmans, they did not make it home in "normal" conditions." It's no secret that the people loading luggage onto a plain aren't gentle when it comes to doing their job. This usually causes luggage to receive minor scratches and dings. However, in my case, one of the wheels came back to me broken. Not exactly the wheel itself, but the arm that it was attached to. This prevented the pullman from balancing nicely on all four wheels. I attribute this to the long arms with which the wheels are attached to, ultimately showing a flaw in the design of this product. For this reason, I returned them.

First of all, the colors are striking. Beautiful! We bought one for each of our girls to take on trips and so far it's passed the test. I read about the zipper issue but for me it's not a problem. They wheel them around the airport without any trouble so the wheels don't seem to be an issue either. Wish it had a mesh insert on one of the insides for dirty clothes but other than that, we are satisfied.
We can easily pull off a long weekend worth of clothes and we are going to attempt a weeks worth soon but it's to Florida so summer clothes might be okay. Would not attempt a weeks vacation with winter clothes though...don't think there is enough room.

I thought the sale price looked great, so I bought the red suitcase, despite warnings from some previous reviewers about wheels and zippers. I love the color and the handle extends to a comfortable length for a tall person. Unfortunately the zipper is quite difficult to open and, especially, to close, due to the stiff plastic flanges/gaskets alongside--and I have tried multiple strategies. I envision a battle each time I use the suitcase until it is "broken in," and I can't imagine remaining calm while having to wrestle it open if asked by a TSA agent. I'm puzzled by the inconsistent quality of this product, given Bean's reputation for product testing, and I now understand why it is on sale. Disappointed, I'm returning it.

I loved the style and.color of the luggage, I had just purchased a similar Samsonite piece and planned to return it when I seen the LL Bean line. Upon delivery, I compared them side by side. The end result was that if the wheels weren't so stiff causing the luggage to tip, I would have kept it. The Samsonite spun around with virtually no effort at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Emelie Perfect carry-on bag
I've been looking for a small rolling suitcase for a while, and so far I've been really impressed by this bag. It's tough enough to stand up to being bounced over cobblestones and banged into subway turnstiles. It fits easily in an overhead bin and even under the seat in a pinch (overbooked flights are the worst). The handle telescopes into the base easily for storage or for lugging the bag up and down stairs.
It's also a great size. I've had no trouble fitting several days' worth of clothes, plus toiletries, umbrella, shoes, and books into it. The longest trip I've done with just this bag was 10 days, and it worked out great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Soup Very mobile but not sold on durability yet
Was initially in love with this piece of luggage. For other reviews that say they can barely pack for one overnight with it, they must be heavier packers than me. I can pack for 4 days in this thing. Love the mobility and design. The telescoping handle is set nicely into the frame however it jammed on me in the airport after very little use. Couldn't get the thing to fully collapse which means it wouldn't fit in an overhead. After fighting with it I finally unpacked the thing, unzipped the inner cover, and manually released the button to make it collapse. Extended and collapsed it a few times and it worked until it jammed on the third try. I'm really liking this piece of luggage for everything it offers except for the jammed telescoping handle. Sending this lemon back for a replacement and give it another try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JessicaS Love this Piece!!
I purchased the lime color. Great color that stands out from all the other luggage on the baggage claim. It does qualify for carry-on but I chose to check it in anyways. Very durable and the 4 way wheels work fantastic. Very easy to manuver through the airport. However, I would LOVE for it to come in larger sizes!!!!! I really feel that the inside is too tiny and not pratical for a female packer. Please make in larger size options!!!!

I purchase a lot from LL Bean and this is the first time writing a review. I bought this suitcase and had a terrible time w/ the zipper. I had to fight with it to open/close even when it was empty, so I know it wasn't overpacked. It wasn't the high quality I was used to from LL Bean

Rated 5 out of 5 by hifromNYC The new ballistic
I've spent endless money on expensive luggage from fancy department stores, but all the parts are cheap and flimsy compared to LL Bean products. I bought this to replace a $600 suitcase from another maker, and I have to tell you the wheels on this are tougher and roll much better. The zipper is rugged and zips easily. The handle is secure and not wobbly, great for pulling this suitcase through bumpy and erratic streets.
I've also been a fan of LL Bean's ballistic luggage, though I'm not sure if they're still making it (I had to leave that beloved rolling pullman in India when I had a bedbug scare!).
I'm going to continue buying LL Bean luggage for all my needs, they've proven to me they are the best.

Great product, great price...made to high standards. It is small...but qualifies for the international carry on. Just wish that there was a grey/sand/beige color instead of the real bright colors as the black alternatives. Unfortunately, I returned the suitcase since I couldn't live with the orange color and didn't want another black suitcase.
