Rated 5 out of 5 by Pachelbel9 Love these boots!
I eyed these boots all last fall/winter. I was waiting for them to go on sale, and by the time they did, they were out of my size for the season. I was so bummed! So, when this year's boots came out, I knew I had to buy some immediately. I tried on the 2013 version, but It was obvious something changed this year, and I just didn't love them as much. Thankfully, one day I saw the 2012 version in stock on the website, so I jumped on them. I've worn them every day for a week, and I love them. So much so that I ordered a backup pair for the day these boots die (which I suspect will be a while from now).
A note about sizing - when I tries these on in the store last year, they were so narrow I decided I needed a 8.5 wide. Since only the M was available this year, I took a chance with those. Oddly, they fit fine. I don't know if they modified the cut mid-year or not, but if so it's for the better. The reviews for these boots last year all lamented the narrow cut.

I searched for a long time before deciding to order this boot. The boots I tried from a department store looked similar, but did not have the same quality these do at a similar price. These are made with substantial leather, good padding in the footbed, and a thicker sole. I have a 14" calf and ordered the size 8 1/2 medium. The buckle at the top is adjustable, so I am able to change it to wear with jeans or bare leg with the same comfort. I wore them around the house for two days to make sure....decided I really love wearing them.

The ultimate reviews came from my kids. From my 11 y/o daughter, "Oh my gosh, those are so cool! I love your outfit!" They even caused my 14 y/o son to look twice and say, "Wow. Boots." If that isn't a glowing review, I don't know what is.
These boots are the perfect blend of casual #wearing with jeans or cords# and dressy #wearing with a dress or skirt# without being trendy and out of style in two days. A sturdy sole and heel means rain or slush won't be a problem. I've worn them to work and to the stables and they work great at both places.
I wear 8 1/2 and that is the size I purchased in the Dark Sienna; ample space for thicker socks and the buckles on the tops of the boots allow for accomodation of either thicker pants or thinner tights. Not too long to cause slipping when I walk. They seem only slightly bunchy at the ankles. The zipper glides with ease.
I love them. LL Bean, please provide these in black. Please. Please. Please.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TerryinWA Quality boot. Med width runs narrow. True to size
I purchased these boots last winter and returned them because the stitching on the zipper was coming undone. I am so sorry I did because my size was sold out! I want them back and would gladly pay to have them re-stitched! Sad, sad shopper. Tried this year's style and was not impressed with the styling. Please make this boot available again!!
I rated them a 4 because they were so narrow in width. I really look for evaluators to comment on your normal size and the adjustments you had to make in your exchanges to get the correct size. It allows me to make the best choice the FIRST time I order!

Rated 5 out of 5 by surfcitygal2 Most comfortable boot I own!
These boots are the most comfortable boots I own. Went on 2 trips to Europe this year & took them both times (it was worth the space they took in my suitcase!)
I wore them all over Italy in March. It was a bit rainy on that trip, but the boots kept me cozy & dry.
In May I packed them a gain for a trip to Scotland. Again, they came thru! They were my 'go to' foot wear for the entire trip.
Just purchased a second pair in brown.
They will be one of the first things I pack on my next adventure.

I SO desperately wanted to love these boots. I have wanted a pair of tall leather boots for quite some time and these seemed perfect by the description.
I am a big woman: about 5' 10" and around 190 lbs, though pretty well proportioned. A lot of the boots I've tried on are snug around my calves. I generally wear a 10 Wide shoe. These boots were crafted for someone much larger than I am. The footbed seemed just about perfect for me across the instep, but my heel area had a good inch of room. The most bizarre thing was that the ankle area actually bagged and wrinkled around my leg. I had at least an inch of room around the calf with my jeans tucked inside the boots and when I tried them on under a skirt, they felt like they might fall off. The overall effect was sloppy and ill-fitting.
They were also shorter than I would like - the top of the boot came to about 5" below my knee. With the wrinkling ankle area, they slid down even further when I walked around the house.
I kept the boots for several days, trying them on again and again, trying to convince myself that they would work. Eventually I packed them back into the box they came in and noticed that in many places there were scratch marks and it looked like the dye was coming off the leather. I can't imagine how they would do under actual conditions of normal wear.
So, back to the store they go. I am so very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NativeNewYorker5 Finally a pair of tall boots that fit!
I am a medium tall woman, 5'9" , and through out the years I have had a terrible time finding tall boots that fit. Most regular calf boot's don't zip up. And most wide calf boots have wide ankles that dig into my leg. These fit both my athletic calves ,16 1/2, and my rather normal sized ankles and are the first pair of tall boots I have ever owned.
I really like these boots. I purchased them in the dark brown color. They were a little tight at the ball of the foot at first but with a few wearings they relaxed. I wear regular trouser socks with them, not thick sports socks. They look great with my dresses, skirts and slim fit pants. I wish they came in Black I would buy another pair.

by jodidesign2 They fit my (big) calves!
I have large calves (17 3/4") and was hesitant about these boots, but was pleasantly surprised when I got them because I had no problem zipping them up... Granted, they are not high boots and fall just below the largest part of the calf, but still - they fit like a glove... I wear an 8.5 and ordered an 8.5 wide - perfect fit... Can't wait to wear them! :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by ClassicNYer Just OK.
I purchased these boots is my usual size, 6.5, medium width and they fit fine. My right foot is slightly wider, so that felt a little snug, but overall, the fit is true to size. However, for the price, I do not think that the leather is premium. The upper part, joined from the ankles up is of a different quality from the lower portion (foot area) and the upper leather is not densly dyed because it scratches easily and to lighter shades. The pair that I received had many scratches of lighter hues. The sole is well made and overall it is ok. I have a 12.5 inch calf, so I had to adjust the upper buckle to the first hole, but having that feature makes no sense because the lower part of the boot is cut pretty wide, hence for persons with overall thick legs. Overall, not a smart design, why provide calf adjustability when the rest of the boot is cut wide. The lower part of my leg is swimming in it even with my pant tucked in and I have slim legs, but not chicken legs. Overall, just ok, but contemplating return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanOnMe Thoughts about dark sienna side-zip tall boots
I like what I got. Would like to share my thoughts: Yes, I found them to be a bit longer at the toe box. Yes, they are a bit narrow at the ball and a tiny bit loose at the heel. I have neither narrow nor wide feet. I am a consistent 7. I got a pair size 7 in regular (B) width. I do consider them to be a good fit for my feet. Calves and boot shafts: they are not tight on my calves but they do create a narrow silhouette which means it won't look great zipping them up over jeans on me. The Dark Sienna is darker than the bright cooper/saddle pictured (It is, however, a nice brown with slight hue of yellow/orange to it). Personally, I wish the shafts were a bit wider and that there won't be a seam on the boot shaft in the front middle, but I can live with it. And to conclude my thoughts - I am very happy to own them and will use them with great joy.
