First, for perspective, I am a very long-term LL Bean customer - nearly 40 years now - and I have found nearly all of the products I have purchased at LL Bean (and that is probably in the 100's at this point) to be very good or excellent and nearly always very reasonably priced. Also, LL Bean's guarantee is the best in the retail world - truly a great business model!
These luggage tags, however, are totally unacceptable (I purchased both the old - mountains - and new - "LL Bean" - versions). Both have all the shortcomings that others have noted: the plastic information cover very easily separates from the plastic shell, the plastic shell itself is not very rugged and would very easily be crushed by baggage handlers, and the lanyard easily separates from its plastic end; all of these would render the tags useless for their purpose - identifying the owner of the bag! In addition, as noted by others, the lanyard is so short that it is very difficult to attach it to the bag handle. I was very surprised that LL Bean had not corrected the deficiencies customers had noted.
I give it one star only because zero stars is not an option. Not recommended!

Unfortunately, the clear face that seals the identity tag in was not properly attached resulting in delamination and loss of the tag. This was either poor design or faulty construction, or both.

This is my second order of LLBean bag tags. Now my wife and I have all our bags tagged by LLBean. They are strong and distinctive.

My set of "Guide Yellow" luggage tags have not been put through the torture test (read "airport carousel") as yet. But they are colorful and seem tough. I think they will help me spot my bags more easily which is why I purchased them. Only time and usage will determine whether or not they are durable.

I like most LL Bean products, but these tags should be an embarrassment to the company. These are difficult to attach to a bag, and if the plastic cover comes off it cannot be re-attached. The one I did attach to my bag came out at the airport baggage claim without the plastic cover and the paper card with my contact information. Therefore, these tags are useless.

I hate To say something is junk but these luggage tags are just that. It's impossible to attach them to your luggage without bending them and as soon as you bend them they break apart. Save your money. These luggage tags do Not work!

I think the price is OK if they are on sale and provided they actually work.
The problem as pointed out by others is that the cord loop isn't long enough
to thread the luggage tag through it.
I'm returning them.
To fix the problem ***make the cord longer and then actually try it out on a few suitcases with different sized attachment points (handles, d-loops, etc) ***.

I agree with several other reviews that the cord attached to the tag is way too short. Had 2 tear trying to attach to luggage. Would be much better with a different cord. Not worth the time to return. I'm keeping and will use a cable tie to attach to my luggage.

It is not possible to correctly attach these tags to our newly purchased Bean luggage. The handles are too wide for the very short cords on the tags. We managed to break two of the tags in our unsuccessful attempts. Their only use is for ID inside the luggage.
