Rated 4 out of 5 by dmace LLBean fit chart questionable on this coat
I'am 5-9 185 lbs, with a 42 chest and 38 waist with a 16 1/2 neck. LL Bean fit chart states large.. Played it safe and ordered a X-Large It fits a little snug around the neck and chest while wearing a sweat shirt, lengh and waist are good. Beware when you order, get the next size larger. On the plus side it has side pockets not mentioned in ad.

I'm sad to say that I had to return this parka for reasons of fit. The medium-size parka fit me perfectly through the body and arms (I'm 5' 10", weigh 167 lbs and wear a 40R suit/blazer), but when it was zipped up fully it was uncomfortably tight around my neck. I wore the parka for 3 weeks, but found the fit around my neck and under my chin quite uncomfortable after a few minutes; I've not had this problem with any jacket or parka before. I really wanted to keep the parka as it is exceedingly warm, light weight and windproof. Moreover, it is well made and good value. No one else has reported this particular fit issue, but I hope LL Bean will investigate it further.

Rated 5 out of 5 by freeforall Overall great parka. Wish they had medium tall.
We live in Central Calif. but my husband gets cold really easy. I got this parka somewhat just to see if he'd say he was still cold though the cold rating listed for the jacket is way below the temperatures here. He's very happy with it and for once he's not disappointed. Our only complaint is that the tall sizes start with a large and he needs a medium tall because the arms are slightly short and the body slightly wide. Still very happy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by themajor Pretty good coat
I find the coat very serviceable, but found a couple of things that need revision on the next lot:
1. Move the draw strings from mid chest to waist high.
2. Add draw string/elastic to bottom of coat

This is a lot of parka for the money. Having read some reviews, I took advantage of L.L. Bean's shipping policy and ordered a small and a medium. I am 5'10", 160. I usually wear medium very well in all my clothing. That being said, I kept the small and sent back the medium. The small fits well with enough room for a couple of layers (sweaters/turtleneck) underneath, and enough room for movement. This is the second goose down product I've ordered in my life, and I very happy with the quality and the fleece lining. This is not a jacket, but falls well below the hip; a lot of parka for the money. Thanks L.L. Bean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MattP Warm but not poorly fitted for athletic guys
While this coat was very warm and light, the fit was terrible! Not only was the coat over-sized (although short), but it was shaped for someone very fat.
I am 6'1 170 lbs, and it seems appropriate for 6' and >220 lbs. I do not want to look like a marshmallow, and will be returning this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Gustavus Does not quite fit
On the positive side it is a light jacket, the material feels good, the price was right, and it is warm enough for the coastal Pacific Northwest. However, there are a couple of problems for me. It is a little snug when I wear the coat with a sweater. I may be somewhere between large and extra large. Had I tried it on in a store I would have figured that out. That is one reason I don't mail order very much. This was a gift. The second irritant is that it is impossible to zip the jacket all the way up under my chin and snap it shut. I don't know if anyone could do so unless that has a neck at least six inches longer than mine.

Over the years I have purchased several parka/jackets from L.L.Bean and this purchase was intended to be my cold weather premium parka. The features and quality do not appear to be equal to a L.L. Bean parka with primaloft I purchased a few years back. The limited time it was worn the wind & cold was felt at times. The positives are it is light weight and soft. This parka would probably work fine in most areas of the U.S. But some days in Minnesota it is not adequate for casual outdoor activity. I will be returning it.
