I bought this for a trip to Alaska. It wasn't bulky to pack, yet it was warm and waterproof. I wear it a lot at home during this onset of winter and am grateful to LLBean for their quality products. It ran true to size - I am a medium and can wear sweaters, etc. under it no problem. Very comfortable and nice looking. I just ordered one like it for men as a gift for my husband!

Rated 4 out of 5 by kdsinohio Nice jacket but temp rating is off
The fit of the jacket is fine but I would say they are off on their temperature rating. It's barely gotten below freezing yet and the body of the jacket need some insulation! The fleece lining just isn't warm enough. The sleeves seem warmer than the body of the jacket. If the body had the same amount of insulation as the sleeves, I think it would meet the temp. rating and be a true winter jacket. Overall, I like the jacket, just wish it met the lower temp rating it claims.

Snow and cold weather has come to the Great Lakes region, and thank goodness I have this jacket!
My first impression when I pulled it out of the package was it was too lightweight to be warm. I was so very wrong! It is very comfortable for driving. Doesn't ride up around my neck like some jackets.
The zipper is easy to use. The snaps are secure but easy to undo. No detail has been missed on this jacket. (Inside zipped pocket! Yay!) The fuzzy lining is soft as a baby teddy bear, but they wisely lined the sleeves with a soft nylon so the jacket is easy to put on and remove.
I would compare the quality of this jacket to many of the ski jackets I wore years ago when I was a ski instructor, except those jackets were at least 3 times more expensive.
If you are looking for a good, practical jacket for everyday use, look no further. Great jacket at a great price.

Got my new jacket today and I love it. The fit is perfect, the color (Lava Red) is great, and the style is just what I wanted (hooded). The quality is top notch.

Very warm coat. Very well made. It is cut a little on the larger side. If you are between sizes I would go down to the smaller size.

Rated 5 out of 5 lightweight, warm and weatherproof
I bought this jacket to wear during those cold and rainy days we get here in Northeast Ohio. I ordered it in an XL and teal color. The fit is perfect and love the color! This jacket performs...does what the product summary says it'll do. The zipper seemed a little awkward for me at first (reversed for ladies....more a man's zip up) but have gotten used to it. Well made and comfortable. Would recommend and certainly would buy it again.

I bought this jacket last winter with high hopes. Of course, I bought it before I knew I would be living through the coldest winter of my life but it did not keep me warm, I repeat it did not keep me warm. I am a California girl that has lived in the midwest for a decade, currently in Wisconsin. Also, as my title suggests the fabric on the outside of the coat is noisy, I am a big walker and I cannot go on my long walks in this coat simply because the noise drives me bonkers, yes bonkers. The raspberry color is lovely but the fit is odd, and when I first put it on I thought- oh perfect- and did not think of returning it. It is not until you try and go about your day in the coat, picking up toddlers, getting in and out of the car and such that you realize it does not move with you, I am always having to adjust it after moving around. So sadly it has been a disappointment. I love llbean but I am not impressed with this jacket. One more thing, when I try to zip the coat all the way up when it is quite cold, I feel like the collar is trying to smother me. Just not a comfortable item and the two things I expect from a good winter jacket are that it is warm and comfortable.......and quiet!

Rated 4 out of 5 by kayandallie sleeves too short
I really like the looks and feel of the fabric for this jacket; I really wish it fit right. I ordered an XL. The upper back and sleeves are too small, though. It fits fine so long as I don't raise my arms. I tried on my ancient LLBean jacket in a L and that fits much better across my back and doesn't pull when I raise my arms. I hate to return it but know it will drive me crazy when driving.

It isn't as warm as a down a parka, but it is warmer than my regular fall jacket. It is just right for windy, damp, raw weather in the late fall season. It would not be enough for the frigid weather in a Minnesota winter, but it is perfect for a blustery day when you need protection from the wind or a light drizzle, but a parka would be too heavy, it would make you sweat. This jacket is breathable, it is pretty good looking, the shell seems fairly water resistant, it blocks the wind very well, and the high loft fleece is cozy. The hood is also lined with the high loft fleece, so it keeps your head nice and warm. It would have been better if there were a draw string around the waist or the hem, so you could have a way to keep cold air from coming up around the bottom edge. The pockets also seem a little shallow. I felt like I wanted to keep my hands on my keys just to make sure I didn't lose them. The pockets do have zippers though, but then I could not have put my hands in them, so I elected not to zip the pockets and keep my hands on the keys. However the hood is exceptional, and overall I am very pleased. As it gets colder I may wear it with a warm vest. The size runs a bit large. I usually wear XL but that size was very loose and blousy in front, so I got the L and it worked fine. I think lots of LLBean jackets are generous in size which is nice actually for layering. As an afterthought, I wish it came in navy or purple.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AlaskaLover Just okay
I was disappointed in this jacket. They advertise it as good to -25 degrees. I wore it one evening when it was in the forties and I was cold. I had on a silk long underwear top and a pima cotton turtleneck. I was sure that should have been adequate for a 40 degree night. However, it was not.
I do not like the lining in the hood. Just lining it in matching fabric would be adequate and make it look a little dressier. I want this coat to be a three season coat, but the fur look will be totally out of place in spring and fall. If they wanted to line the hood with the fur look, then they should have made the hood removable. The teal is a pretty color. I normally wear a M, and although it fit with a light weight top, it was snug when I added a thick sweater. The L is roomier and feels better, but is almost too big. Still deciding if I will keep either size.
